Would you like to see some of my handmade Christmas ornaments?

Well, everyone, I did it… I got my Christmas tree up this evening! It isn’t decorated yet, but I have made some headway sorting out the things I want to use and the things that “just need to be taken to the thrift shop.” You know, all those ornaments that you don’t like or put back in the box for another year…all those Christmas mugs, and cookie plates, and knicky knacky things you’ve collected over the years that you know you won’t be using…E-V-E-R probably. Some things I’ll keep, but other things just need to go!

As I was looking through my many tubs of decorations, I ran across a “soft ornaments” box and thought I’d share a few of my handmade ornaments with you. I’ve made many many ornaments over the years, but I always give them away, so I don’t have very many for myself. However, I did find a few and thought you might like to see them or even try to make them yourself… some are very simple.

These first two snowmen were made using Warm and Natural Batting…

I’m hoping to get my living room decorated tomorrow and then maybe I’ll show you some more things I’ve gotten done…
Thanks for stopping by.

See you tomorrow,
Blessings and Merry Christmas, Jeanne

  1. Going to keep this and maybe try to make some of your ornaments in my spare time
to use up some of my fabric.

    1. HI Sylvia,
I’m so glad I inspired you to make some of your own ornaments. You can find lots of simple designs from coloring books… just trace the main part and then all the other pieces that need to be cut out separately… then fuse them with wonder under and stack the ornament in the order it needs to be… Hope you have fun…
Blessings and Merry Christmas to you,
      ~Jeanne

  2. Awww, so cute, Jeanne. Thanks for sharing some of your hand made ornaments.

I love opening the boxes of ornaments each year. I think each and every one of them has a story to go along with it. We have so many too. Our tree is crammed full. It’s hard to find a bare branch anywhere.

Hope you have a holly jolly weekend. Christmas is so close now.

    1. HI Cindy,
I should have waited and gone over to my moms to photograph some of the ornaments I have made her. She probably has the most from me…
I am trying my best to get my living room finished and looking all Christmasy today. I still have a long way to go, but I’m making progress.
I do plan on having a good weekend…
Blessings and Merry Christmas to you Cindy,
      ~ Jeanne

  3. Jeanne, those are simply adorable! Did you think them all up yourself? I don’t know about you, but I only have 24 hours a day and can’t figure out how you do all that you do! I did make ornaments from kits–remember those ones from Lee Ward’s that you had to push pins into? I still have lots of mine, although I am putting them in the back of the tree! They aren’t in the best of shape now, but I thought they were just beautiful when I made them and I can’t bear to throw them away, since they bring back such happy memories, and that’s one of the things that Christmas is all about!

On another note, I saw Eunice Farmer’s obituary in the St. Louis paper today. Surely you remember her, don’t you? I used to read her columns all the time.

OK, you can get back to your tree and decorations!

    1. Hi Linda,
Thanks for the compliments on the ornaments… I have all the ones like you have too…only I left mine in the box. I’m like you, I can’t throw them away, but I didn’t put them on my tree today. I’ve been working all day and have most of my living and dining room done. Since we are remodeling our house (on the 10 year or more plan….) it is still a little to be desired, but I wanted to make it look as cozy as possible, even with no flooring and no trim around my living room windows.
I do remember reading her column back when I was in high school especially. In fact we did something with her columns in one of my sewing classes, but I can’t remember exactly what it was. Oh yes, I think I remember now… I think we had to read one of the questions someone asked and write our own editorial for it… I think it was someone asking about what to wear to a summer wedding if I remember correctly…

My tree is done but it’s too dark to take pictures, so maybe I’ll share it on Monday’s post…
Now I’ve got a bunch of “leftover stuff” that I need to pack up and get my floors swept.
      Thank you Linda,
      Blessings, Jeanne
