Who thinks it’s time for an Easter Gloves GIVEAWAY?

Okay… who has been thinking, “When is she EVER going to have another GIVEAWAY?” I know….it’s been forever hasn’t it? I checked and the last one was in August! I had no idea it had been that long! SO…in honor of Easter coming quicker than I thought…I’m giving away a pair of white fingerless gloves in a Giveaway today! They fit the American Girl dolls and are decorated with a couple of pearls. A bit dressy, they make most outfits a little fancier! :o)

Now here are the rules for the GIVEAWAY…

I could just ask you to make a comment, like which doll will get to wear the gloves if you are the winner, but I thought we could have a little more fun with it than that.
So I’ll ask a question and when you comment on it, you’ll be registered for the drawing of the gloves. You can either comment below my blog post or hit the “Contact Me” tab under my header at the top and email me your comment. You’ll have until 12:00 midnight tonight, Illinois, (Central time) to leave your comment. I’ll draw out a winner and let you know who won in tomorrow’s post.

Now here’s my question…

If you could get any kind of candy in your Easter Basket, what kind would you like BEST?

Well, that’s it for today… Short and Sweet!

See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

  1. Candy. Hmmm. I once gave my sister a See’s chocolate egg that weighed nearly a pound. This is good for people who like to share. In our family, See’s is a tradition, beginning at least during WWII, when my mom used to stand in line to get rationed chocolates at the See’s store in Santa Monica, where my dad was stationed, for my dad. I have to recommend their jelly beans as well, and the bordeaux eggs. If you feel really extravagant, their toffee is good.
If there’s a nearby Harry and David’s, their chocolate Easter bunnies, called Ears, are very funny. I have never tried one, but I do enjoy the pictures.
If you want something less traditional, Jeanne makes wonderful buttery sugared pecans — did you ever share that recipe? I suppose we’d have to find nice metal or plastic eggs to fill with the pecans, but it would be worth the effort.
Of course, a lovely Faberge egg would be pretty much as good as it gets, and they are so low in calories.
I would definitely settle for the egg shaped charm on the necklace that Rebecca is currently wearing.

    1. HI Marilyn,
      I have a cookbook with See’s chocolate in it… I think it’s See’s Fudge…but I’ll have to check… and maybe even make some…if it’s as good as you say!
You gave quite a variety of candy ideas and it’s making me want something sweet…
As far as my candied pecans…those are a secret… sorry…
Thanks for all your yummy ideas!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  2. Short and sweet, indeed! My absolute favorite Easter candy is Russell Stover marshmallow eggs! They are individually wrapped and come in a cute egg carton. I cannot get enough of them, and thank heavens I only see them at the grocery store around this time of the year! I bought a couple of cartons of them, mostly for the grandchildren, but you know, Jeanne, grandma has to “taste” one to see if they are alright!!
    Maybe two!!!!!

    1. HI LInda,
I’m going to have to look for the Marshmallow Eggs you mention. I’m not sure I’ve ever seen them, but I love things in little egg cartons… :o)
Oh, but of course, grandma has to taste them first… to make sure they aren’t poisoned or something, right? I get it! :o)
      Blessings, Jeanne

  3. The gloves indeed are a beautiful accessory that would fancy up any outfit. Whoever receives them will be very lucky.
Today’s question is easy for me. My favorite Easter candy is definitely Reese’s Peanut Butter Eggs.
Thank you for the giveaway. Good luck, everyone!
    Take care.

    1. Oh Charlotte,
I’m with you…. Reese’s Peanut Butter Eggs… I MAY or MAY NOT have had one of those 2 weeks ago… I LOVE them… Okay, I had one! :o) just one though…
      Blessings, Jeanne

  4. Malted milk ball eggs! I LOVE those! 😉 I guess they call ’em Robins Eggs, now…. now, you did it to me… I’m gonna have to go FIND some of those at the store! LOL!! sigh.
As usual, your Easter gloves are beautiful. 🙂

    1. HI Mary,
Oh, I love those little colored Robin’s Eggs too.. I love to eat them until you’re sick of them.. I can’t stop when I open the bag of them… I think they come in a little milk carton sometimes don’t they? Yummy!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  5. Marilyn’s treatise on chocolate eggs is great! For me the original Cadbury Chocolate Eggs were the best. Hershey’s has changed the formula in America now (sacrilege). We lived in England for two years during my last two years of high school and only the real thing will do. Not as fancy as See’s but a nice childhood memory.

    The gloves are sooo cute!

    1. HI Susette,
Now you’re talking like George… He LOVES the Cadbury chocolate eggs… I usually buy him one of those cartons of them… I need to get him some…thanks for the reminder…
      Blessings, Jeanne

  6. I stumbled onto your blog just this past March and am thoroughly enjoying your posts. Your doll outfits are absolutely adorable and your sewing skills are impeccable. But most importantly, we share the same faith in Jesus and I know from your posts that you love serving others.
I am in my late sixties, so my Easter candy memories are 50-60 years old. We lived in the small town of Van Wert, Ohio. At around 8:30 on the Saturday evening before Easter, my Father would go to our A&P grocery store where the manager would be drastically marking down prices on the Easter candy. He would buy jelly beans, pastel candy coated malted milk balls, and Peeps. But my favorite were the trays of Brach’s foil-wrapped chocolate eggs with assorted centers. Some of the fillings were vanilla, coconut, maraschino cherry, maple nut, and fruit-nut. By the time my own children came along, I could no longer find those trays of assorted chocolates by Brach’s. 🙁
I now live in a small town near Ft. Wayne, Indiana which is home to a chocolate maker called DeBrand’s. I would settle for a box of their truffles since Brach’s are no longer available. However, my poor husband would be paying over 100 times the price for those truffles compared to what my Father paid for my Brach’s eggs.
Have a very Blessed Easter, Jeanne and family.

    1. HI Beth,
First of all, let me say a big welcome to you for joining in on my blog! I’m glad you are enjoying yourself and I hope you’ll join in on the conversations we have around here. The ladies in this group are the absolute nicest you’ll find anywhere.
Someone gave me some of the DeBrand’s chocolates 2 years ago and in a matter of minutes Rebecca and I ate WAY too much.. I went out of the room and Rebecca hid the candy from me until the next day… so I KNOW for a fact how good this candy is!
I liked your story of your father “bargain shopping” for Easter candy the night before… a man after my own heart! :o)
      Blessings, Jeanne

  7. My favorite Easter candy would have to be PEEPS!!! Why you might ask, they are low in
calorie! Still wishing and hoping that you would make the lace thigh highs for my American Girl Doll so that I could purchase a pair in your Etsy Shop. I simply MUST have a pair!
Should I be so BLESSED to be the winner of these lovely gloves, I will rejoice and thank
    God for making it possible.

    1. HI Laureen,
I have made a note about the thigh highs for your American Girl doll…
Peeps…it’s funny…..nobody has picked the same candy. Isn’t it wonderful to have so many choices?
      Thanks so much,
      Blessings, Jeanne

    1. HI Madelon,
You are the first person to duplicate a candy… Peeps no less! and a coconut egg. Boy, could I go for one of those now!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  8. Every fashion amazes me! The gloves are so dress!
My favorite…fresh dark chocolate covered marshmallows

    1. HI T Marie,
Yum.. chocolate covered marshmallows… I wonder how many of you all have gone out today in search of your favorite candy?
      Thanks so much,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  9. Not much of a candy fan here, but I occasionally may have a Brach’s gumdrop. They’re good.
Hope you had a nice weekend and perhaps picked up something fun during your shopping trips.

    1. HI Joy,
Gumdrops huh? No chocolate? I need to come live with you and detox! :o)
      I may have found a few things…that I can share…
      Thanks Joy,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  10. Malted Milk ball eggs for me too! I’ve always loved the taste of the malt with chocolate! The gloves are lovely, any girl would be thrilled to have them. 🙂 Happy Easter week, everyone! 🙂

    1. HI Melody,
I love to put the malted milk balls in my mouth and see if I can just suck on them instead of crunching them…it’s hard to do! They were made to be chomped on! :o)
      Thanks Melody,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  11. The gloves will be for my new 18″My Meadow “Saffi” Who has the same size feet and hands as the AGs. I have some white with blsck toe Samantha boots and these gloves woul be perfect for s child’s Victorian dress.

My favorite Easter candy is See’s milk chocolate covered cocoanut cream Egg.. OMGoodness .. so good. !

    1. HI Shara,
Okay, you are with Marilyn on the See’s chocolate…I’m going to get out my recipe and give it a try! Congrats on your new My Meadow doll, Saffi… send me a picture of her so I can share her with the group, if you’d like…
      Blessings, Jeanne

  12. My favorite Easter candy is marshmallow eggs covered with a color sugar covering . I also love anything with Reese’s chocolate on o it.

    1. Oh another marshmallow fan… and a Reese’s chocolate fan… 2 great candies! I’m hungry for candy now!
      Thanks Diana,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  13. P.S. to my Peep post. The Peep Website (Just Born) has the cleverest Peep dioramas! The Denver Post used to have diorama contest every year. I don’t know if they still do it.

    1. Hi Debi,
I was just looking on Pinterest last night and saw the cutest Peep things ever. There was a grouping of them driving cars made from twinkles with marshmallow wheels!
      Thanks Debi,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  14. Favorite Easter candy? Niederegger marzipan eggs, followed by marshmallow or coconut cream eggs and black jelly beans. I also remember hummingbird eggs ( I think they were egg shaped, but tasted like candy corn does).
If the egg isn’t candy, a German Erzebirge paper egg. I have an antique turn of the century German paper egg that belonged to my great aunt, so sweet with painted eggs, ribbons and chicks on it.
The gloves are so sweet. My Caroline or Marie-Grace would love them.

    1. Hi Laura,
Not only do the marzipan eggs sound yummy, they sound beautiful too! So do the coconut ones…I’ve got a sweet tooth and nothing sweet in my house! Waaaaahhh!!
      Thanks Laura,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  15. Cheryl Handelman

What I would like to find in my basket???! A “Candi” doll, by Helena Hamilton! Seriously, though, I would LOVE a basket full of “Cadbury Mini Eggs”, ESPECIALLY the DARK CHOCOLATE ones!

The candy shell coating would prevent these chocolates from staining your LOVELY gloves!

Happy dolling! A “Zissen Pesach” and a “Happy Easter”! ~

    Cheryl in NJ

    1. Thank you Cheryl,
It sounds like there’s a whole lot of sugar being thought about today! I hope you get your dream doll sometime!!!
      Thank you so much…
      Blessings, Jeanne

  16. My ideal basket would be filled with black jelly beans, malted milk balls and a Dark Chocolate Easter bunny with really long ears! Yummmm

  17. There is no doubt about what kind of candy I would choose….Reeses Peanut Butter eggs.
My total favorite candy is combining peanut butter and chocolate.

Happy Easter, Jeanne. I ‘ve been reading your blog everyday before I go to work. Now, having just retired 2 weeks ago, I read it in the morning when I walk on the treadmill, around 5:30 AM.
    Love to read your blog.
    Karen

    1. HI Karen,
Oh goody, another Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup lover! Aren’t they the best?

It’s nice to have you reading my blog posts on the treadmill… 2 good things to get your day started! :o)
      Blessings, Jeanne

  18. Hi Jeanne! No entry for me, please, for your charming little gloves, but I am a Cadbury Cream Egg girl, too! I won’t turn ANY chocolate away–See’s, Malley’s, DeBrand’s, Heggy’s–but Cadbury is my favorite. I hope everyone gets some of their favorite candy in their Easter Baskets! Easter Blessings to you and your many readers, Jeanne!

    1. Thank you Anne,
A woman who loves Cadbury Eggs just like my hubby. After all this candy talk today I bet we’ve all had a sweet tooth. I didn’t succumb to any…just had grapes! That’s no fun!
I hope everyone gets a piece of their favorite candy this week too!
Wouldn’t it be fun if we could “grow” chocolate in little miniature terra cotta pots and see it grow just like little flowers??? :o)
      Thanks so much!
      Blessings, Jeanne

It’s too late for an entry for the gloves, and that’s okay, but I had to respond!

Every year there are two things I HAVE to buy for Ron’s and my baskets (yes, I fill baskets for us!): Peeps (of course!) and M&M Peanuts in the pastel Easter colors. Love them both. Then I usually add something else–the Reese’s p.b. eggs, or perhaps chocolate/marshmallow eggs….whatever looks good.

However, my FAVORITE candy (which requires an airplane ride and renting a car! LOL) is almost anything milk chocolate from Sayklly’s Confectionary (http://saykllys.com/ ) in Escanaba, Michigan! It’s about 43 miles from where I grew up in the Upper Peninsula, and has the BEST chocolate, bar none!

    1. Hi Charlotte,
Thanks for adding your favorite candies to the list…
That chocolate MUST be good if you have to travel to Michigan to get it. Maybe somebody who reads my blog and lives nearby will try it out…if they haven’t already. It must be some recipe to be that good!
      Thanks Charlotte,
      Blessings, Jeanne

      1. Charlotte Trayer

        Hi, Jeanne,

Well, you can order online!! LOL I’ve been thinking maybe I should order some milk cashew snappies (like Turtles, but with cashews), and some milk chocolate/coconut, and maybe some with raspberry filling…. They are SO good!!
