What do you buy every time you go grocery shopping?

It seems like there might be a glitch in the timing of my blog posts since they have been scheduled… some posts aren’t going through until the next day and some not at all… I’m SO sorry. If you are missing posts… you can always find me this way…
Google…

I Dream of Jeanne Marie Blog…hopefully you can find me somehow…

Here is another question for you to ponder… I’m doing a series of questions as I’m not quite able to keep up my regular sewing or home posts. Your answers to the questions will be the fun part of the post…

Today’s question is “What do you buy every time you go grocery shopping?” This should prove quite interesting and I’m looking forward to seeing the varied answers!

My hubby will be having his bladder, his prostrate and the lymph nodes close by removed on Thursday morning at 8:00a.m… Then his “plumbing” will be reconstructed and he will have a bag on his side. It’s a major surgery and we would covet your prayers all day long as it’s an 8 hour surgery. Thanks to all of you have been so kind to us during this difficult time.

See you when I can,
Blessings, Jeanne

  1. Dear Jeanne, your blog posts have been coming in regularly at 6pm (our time) 1am yours. And then a second one 8 hours later.
I feel very greedy to get two posts when lots of people don’t receive one.
Every time I go grocery shopping I buy fresh fish. Not cheap but beautifully fresh. A sustainable white ocean fish named Gurnard. Also salmon, farmed We feel very thankful to be able to purchase an abundance of fresh food.
I join with all your other blog people to offer support tomorrow and especially Thursday.
    Warm hugs and prayers.
Woops, looks like I have to fill the requested fields before I can post too.

  2. I wish I could come up with something more “in” than this, but I feel so ordinary when I think of what I buy every single time at the grocery store! It’s milk and TP!!! I go once a week, and just once a week, if we run out of things, I just plain wait till the next time I go. We have a large and varied grocery store, and just walking through it takes plenty of time, not to mention actually looking at things and comparing. But always I have to buy milk and TP, because we run out!!
I have this “route” in my store, and I am so used to it, and have gone that way years and years, so if I miss or decide not to go up an aisle that I usually do, it messes up my so called “route”, and I find myself going up the “down” aisle, and missing things I usually find. I know its crazy, but that’s why I still go down the pet food aisle, even though our kitty was put to sleep 5 years ago.
Michael and I have cereal most every morning, so we need the milk, he gets 2% and I get skim for me. As far as getting those mega rolls of TP, not me! Too embarrassing I guess!
I’ll be waiting to hear if you get settled in St. Louis, and hoping to meet up sometime.
Prayers for you and George, always! Safe travels, Jeanne!

  3. Hi Jeanne
Fresh produce every time. Like Linda, I try very hard to only grocery shop once a week otherwise I spend too much money and time. My husband and I both love salads and we also like to add some veggies with meat. We eat meatless once a week so that is usually some kind of stir fry veggies with pasta or rice.
Prayers and blessings for George and you and the family. Stay strong, God is with you.

  4. No post again today. Getting used to just typing in idreamofjeannemarie.com
As to the dreaded grocery store, I fortunately, do not have to attend regularly. Other person does that for things like bread and radishes which Trader Joe’s here does not carry or fresh chicken etc. We pick up milk only at a small local store that carries our favorite brand, Clover, on Tuesday, senior discount day. We usually shop at Trader Joe’s about once a week and Costco as well. At Trader Joe’s, I always buy their Greek yogurt and a box of oatmeal with individual packets. For Linda, Costco keeps us supplied with giant packages of toilet paper so we don’t have to pick that up anywhere else.
Know you’re headed out for St Louis today. Be with you in spirit tomorrow. Please let us know when you can that all is well.

      1. We were just at Costco today. Sale on sunglasses for other person. $99.00 for his prescription. I’ll be sure to pick up some TP for you when we are there again. 🙂

  5. Prayers for both of you for the surgery tomorrow!

    Most purchased grocery store items..hmmm:
Cat food, milk, creamer, grapefruit juice ( for my “mock tails “) and TP..cant be without a back stock of TP:)

Like Joy, I type in idreamofjeannemarie.com except that when I type in the i, the computer spells out the rest, so it’s really no trouble. If I’m up, I can reach the blog by 12:01 am MST and that’s why I’m often the first person to write. Last time I commented, I had to fill in my name and email, which is usually filled in for me. That was new, and I don’t know the significance of it.

As for yesterday’s column, I always love to see Ten Ping, and I like both versions of her face. I especially like the picture with glasses, in which she looks like a stereotypical English teacher, like me, though I don’t look like her. I’m taller and my coloring is different.
Remember that a compliment is just a way that someone tells you you’ve done something right.
I once designed an AIDS quilt panel for a young friend. It was quite simple, with borders in the colors of the Taiwanese, West German, and Italian flags. His mother was Taiwanese, his father German-American, and he loved anything Italian. Other than that, the panel showed a hand making the I Love You sign (Chris was deaf), with a shirt cuff attached to the hand (he loved clothes and had 223 shirts), and his name in the letters I often drew (the puffy 70s sort). The woman in charge of the project looked at my panel design and said, “What do you do for a living?” She thought I was an artist! It’s one of my favorite compliments.
A compliment doesn’t have to be life changing, just something nice that made you feel good.

More prayers for you both. It’s going to be a long week, and not fun, but productive and, now that I think of it, probably not harder than the kitchen, with about as many people working on it. Keep us up on the news and keep remembering that we are thinking of you both and praying for you.

Oh, Marilyn, your comment about someone thinking you were an artist reminded me of something similar. I was participating in a “round robin” quilt, and we were each displaying our center blocks before they went into their brown paper bags to be passed to someone for a border. I had done a pieced and appliqued block that showed shepherds on the hillside, with angels fussy-cut from print fabric and appliqued in the sky. As I looked at everyone else’s beautifully pieced blocks, I started thinking, maybe I should have done something different….and then it was my turn to reveal my block. I told about my idea, how I started with a rough sketch, etc., and then I pulled mine out. There were several collectively drawn breaths and “oh, Charlotte!”s heard….which I took as a great compliment, and thought maybe I Was a little artistic after all!

  7. Now that I’m a widow, frozen dinners. But when I had five teenagers at home, I got milk every day on the way home from work.

I get my milk in bottles from the milkman, so I don’t have to worry about recycling — they re-use the bottles. Besides, the milk is fresh and the cows are decently cared for. I checked.
The main item I get from the grocery store is produce, though I also buy at the Farmer’s Market, which is open May – October. They have lots of good bread as well as exotic things to eat. The store is only about 4 blocks away, as is a flower/plant store. I’m really lucky.

  9. Some sort of produce, I rarely used canned vegetables or fruit, if so, then mainly tomatoes for cooking.
God bless you and yours, Jeanne, you are in my prayers.

  10. Hi everyone,
We are just a little ways from St. Louis so I thought I’d chime in here for a minute. It looks like milk and toilet paper are the two hot commodities at the grocery store…
I think the thing we buy just about every time we go to the grocery store is lettuce….we have salads just about every meal…
I’ve enjoyed reading your comments and hope you are too.
I feel so bad that Marilyn’s “guest” post didn’t get to be seen by everyone, as there seemed to be a scheduling glitch with it, even though I posted it just like I do every other one of my posts when I’m at home. If you missed it I hope you’ll go back and read it and tell about your favorite compliment.

Well, I’ve got to go…sign patrol for me…we aren’t used to driving in St.Louis even though we’ve been up here many times…

    Thanks everyone…
    Blessings, Jeanne

I usually buy at least some kind of fresh produce–even if it’s only an onion! This time of year, though, I do buy more, as we love eating raw veggies and salads!

And, yes, Jeanne, there is definitely some kind of glitch, because not only am I not getting all the posts, but when I got to write a comment, I now have to fill in my name and email addres every time, which I never had to do before. Sounds like it’s a wordpress issue.
