Wellie Wishers Willa Wears green Wonderfully!

I found some time today to work on Willa’s new dress…and yes, this will be my first Christmas dress of the season. Those hazel green eyes of hers just said Christmas to me…so we went with a pretty green and gold outlined print. Before I could do anything, I had to draft a pattern that would work…at least for this first dress. There’s always tweaking when making something for a new doll.

I just made a simple little girl dress with puffed sleeves and a full two-tiered skirt. The back will close with snaps and small buttons and I’m sure there’ll be more to add. Willa is a good model and behaves very nicely!

Of course, a little touch of red makes it more Christmas-y…

I’m not finished, but got a pretty good headstart on her dress today. There’ll be more to come… stay tuned!

The last comment from yesterday was from Joy. She was asking me how the Wellie Wishers dolls compared with the Heart for Heart dolls. She has a H4H doll, so she sent me their measurements. The Wellie Wishers are just slightly bigger than the Heart for Heart dolls… I’m pretty sure they could swap clothes with the Wellie Wishers. She got my interest up, so I googled Heart for Heart dolls and looked at them. I had no idea there were so many of them. I always just saw Lillian…the little blue eyed blonde doll. They are pretty cute and after I looked at the images of them on the internet… I looked at them on Ebay. Oh my, lots of them on there too…

How many of you have the Heart for Heart dolls? Just wondering…

I guess I’ll see you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

  1. Willa looks adorable in that dress, Jeanne! I love the flouncy ruffle and the touch of lace around the waistband with the red threading! You aren’t finished? I’m trying to decide what you would do or add to it, but I’m coming up blank! A sweet petticoat? She needs red ribbons in her hair around her cute pigtails, and some shoes, for sure! Maybe red ones?
I do not have H4H dolls, but have seen them at Target a long time ago, but I don’t think they have them anymore. They really are cute little dolls, but they were very small, more like 10 inches tall, if I remember right. They must have different sizes, because the ones I saw were nowhere near WW size.

    1. HI Linda,
Thanks so much for your compliments on Willa’s dress. Have you shown pictures of Willa to your sister? That must be fun to have a doll with your name…
I am just about finished with Willa’s set… now to some shoes… oh boy! Here we go again… but at least they aren’t 1″ long… :o)
I got some information from Joy and the measurements of the Hearts for Hearts dolls and they are 14″ tall… in fact, they are up for presale on Amazon right now… they’re making a come back I guess. I haven’t looked at them on Amazon yet, but I’m sure I will…
The H4H dolls remind me of the Bratz dolls just a little bit…
      Thanks Linda,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  2. What a nice idea the Hearts for Hearts dolls are — they are international, encouraging their owners to learn more about the countries and states they are from. Heart for Heart works, but if you add the S to Heart, you do better.

Willa’s dress is perfectly charming. I like the two tiered skirt a lot. The tie-in to nature works especially well for these dolls. Thinking back to the lists of favorites from Jeanne, the leaf and flower prints we’ve been seeing will make using a garden theme easy. Red bows for her hair? Green? White? A petticoat? A leaf shaped purse? If you can make shoes for Ten Ping, you can make shoes for Willa. You talk about needing to tweak new patterns, but this one seems to fit just right.

    1. HI Marilyn,
I just discovered adding the “S” to heart and came up with many more pictures of the dolls.
They are pretty cute, I have to admit… I’m surprised I never noticed them before…
      Now, it’s onto her shoes… I hope I get it the first time… :o)

    1. Thanks for the link Kath…I’ve seen a few but not this one ….yet. ..thanks…
Which dolls do you have? I can’t decide which ones I like best…
      Blessings, Jeanne

    1. HI Becky,
I was doing a little “surfing” last night and saw that exact same post that you linked to. It was pretty informative. I also found a few more with the H4H dolls featured. I learned a lot!
Congrats on getting Emerson… I had a hard time deciding but she was right up there in my “likes” list! I got a $10 Kohl’s bucks coupon, so I could go back and get one for $50 now… :o) Too bad I only need one!
Did you get Emerson JUST FOR YOURSELF? If so, you are the first lady I’ve met who got one for themselves and not for their daughter or granddaughter.
      Thanks Becky,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  3. Isn’t little Willa a sweetie? Love her dress.
I went to the Hearts 4 Hearts facebook page and it says presale available on amazon and coming in November. So they should be back in time for the holiday season.
Here is the A Girl For All Times site.

I have Amelia. Great stories go along with all of the dolls. They have jointed elbows and knees and are 16″
The Mini Maru dolls are available for preorder at the Maru site. They are the Dianna Effner sculpt, coming soon and are 13″ just like the Little Darlings.
Lots of good choices out there for us dolly people.

    1. Oh Joy,
There are too many dolls out there… too many to choose from… As soon as I leave your comment, I’m going to Amazon…JUST TO LOOK…
      Thanks for all your help… I think… :o/

  4. Your first draft dress for Willa is charming, Jeanne, and doesn’t look like it needs any future tweaking at all! The green is beautiful with her eyes, and the skirt with its deep flounce stands out nicely. (Are you hiding one of your adorable slips underneath?! 😉 ) How exciting, too, that Willa’s first Jeanne Marie Original is your first Christmas dress of the season! I love everything Christmas and will look forward to all your Christmas 2016 creations. I think red ribbons for Willa’s curly pigtails would be a festive touch, and perhaps Rebecca could find time to make a special red and green necklace to complement the dress. Congratulations on a wonderful beginning in your new adventures with Willa, Jeanne. I hope all your other girls have welcomed her like a sister! 😉

    1. Hi Anne,
Thank you for your kind words about Willa’s new dress. It always is fun to introduce a new girl into the mix…yes, Willa has been welcomed.
I’m going to try my hand at some shoes for her now…gotta go!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  5. Late again due to a busy day outside. So much to do before the cool weather comes.
I love the alliteration in your title. Willa DOES look very sweet in the green fabric.
It looks like you were able to tweak a Little Darling pattern to fit her. I love the deep flounced hem of her dress. It reminds me of the prairie skirts which had multiple tiers.
I like Linda’s suggestion of red shoes and red ribbons for her ponytails. Have the other girls shown her the Dolly Toybox yet? She’ll need a Christmas surprise.
I assume you’ve seen on PT that Felicity is returning next year. I saw the leaked picture of her stays, shift and bumroll. Since I didn’t care for any of Samantha’s beforeverizing I’m cautiously optimistic. I really don’t think AG can top her original PC collection. I didn’t care for the things Mattel gave her so the Town Fair and windmill was my last purchase. I do think it will be fun though to see her in the catalog once again.

    1. HI Laura,
Actually it was a tweak from my 14″ Wren Kish doll, that got me started in the right direction. It was an ” almost” fit… so it wasn’t too hard. I need to make her sleeve cap fuller on top… and deeper on the bottom. I’ll do that next time.

I did see the news about Felicity coming back on PT.. good move on their part… they should have known better than to let Felicity go for good. It will be interesting to see what they give her this time around.
Thanks for the compliments on Willa’s set, Laura.
      Blessings, Jeanne
