Wait till you see Lian’s dress and straw hat!!!

It was a good Friday! I got a few things done and was very happy with what I got accomplished….

First, I had just a little bit of crust left from yesterday’s apple pie for DV… HERE is that post! (my hubby just sat the pie on DV’s kitchen counter, but he wasn’t home.. so I don’t know what he thought of it.)
Anyway, I decided there were 2 apples left and with that dab of pie dough, I decided to make us a little dessert for dinner…our very own apple pies for each of us…

They were so cute and very tasty! My little custard cups were probably about the size of what a regular slice of apple pie would be…

The next thing I worked on was Lian’s outfit… I added the skirt to her dress after I stitched up the side seams. Lian looks very pretty in this lavender color, don’t you agree?

I decided to decorate her hat first and had fun doing it. It’s sort of like an art project when I do something like this. I used paper roses, some tiny white paper flowers and then I cut out some tiny leaves from some big leaves I already had. I tied a bow in the back from some lavender trim I had. It looks so sweet sitting on Lian’s black hair.

I wasn’t sure what I was going to do with the lace in the middle of her dress, so I sewed the pearls on first and then decided to try my hand at some bullion roses in a color of thread that’s almost an absolute match to her dress fabric. I then added some greenery to pick up the leaves in her hat. (I only managed to get halfway done with the bullions…)

I’m not finished yet, but it was after midnight, so I decided to call it a night… I can’t wait to see what it will all look like when I’m finished…I think Lian might be a little flower girl.. what do you think?

See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

I Agree! Lian looks lovely in this colour. The hat is just perfect for her too.

    1. Thank you Dorothy,
Lian looks beautiful in just about every color I’ve ever put on her, but this lavender just pops on her, I think.
I’m glad you like her hat too…It was fun to decorate.
      Blessings, Jeanne

  2. What an adorable dress and hat this turned out to be, Jeanne! Yes, a little jr. bridesmaid or flower girl would be the perfect occasion for her to wear it! Oh my, that hat—–perfection!

You ARE going to do the rest of the roses around the lace bodice, aren’t you? That is certainly what makes you creations stand out above the crowd, those special touches! Now what for her to hold, a small basket of flowers or a bouquet?

    1. Hi Linda,
Thank you for your sweet comments Linda, and yes, I am going to finish the roses around the front of the dress. I was just too tired to finish them last night. There’s a slip to be made and probably a new pair of thigh highs and then snaps to sew on and an accessory to pick…so I still have plenty to do…
      Thanks Linda,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  3. What a fine example of your many talents! Love everything about this little dress and hat. Makes me wish even more that I had a Lian doll. The little pies are so cute and a great idea. Love hearing about your daily adventures as well as the sewing.

    1. Thank you Susette,
Oh, my goodness, if you could ever find a Little Darling doll on Ebay, you would be in heaven… They are such a fun size to sew for and are such pretty little dolls.
I have family on my hubby’s side coming in tonight, so I’ve got to get busy on this dress set if I intend to get it finished…
      Blessings, Jeanne

  4. Lian looks so pretty in her purple/lilac/lavender dress and hat. Love all the floral embellishments!

    1. Thank you Karen,
I hope I can get it finished soon… I want to see it all completed too!
Thanks so much for your kind comments…
      Blessings, Jeanne

    1. Thank you Christine,
Those pies were delicious…too delicious I might add!
Lian is a little sweetie even naked… I just love her!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  5. Perfect for a garden party. Maybe a tea table with decorated cakes too. Lovely outfit. Has everything going for it.
Your pie photo with the blue and white, looks to be Danish, patterned dish and vintage fork is so inviting staged on the blue. Could be a cover photo.

    1. Thank you Joy,
Ooooo… I forgot about a tea party… I was sent a tea set that would be perfect for her… maybe Lian will go to a tea party after the wedding…hmmm… thanks for the reminder!

Oh brother, I don’t think my photo’s could never be a cover photo… I just used a blue cutting board this time instead of my crummy countertops showing. But thanks anyway… they were delicious.
      Thanks Joy,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  6. The little apple pies are so cute. I’ve read a few things lately on making desserts etc in 8 oz mason jars. I think that would be a great way to transport them to a picnic.
Love Lian’s dress. The little bird fabric is super sweet as is the hat. I agree that Lian look as if she is ready to have a tea party. I’m sure you could find multiple stuffed animals in your Dolly Toy Box to attend.

    1. Hi Laura,
I just bought a thick magazine the other day from America’s Test Kitchen…called Baking for Two. It looks fabulous and I can’t wait to try something from it. Everything is scaled down so you don’t end up making a whole cake…(and eating it!!!) I like the mason jar idea! Sounds fun and pretty at the same time.
I think a tea party might be in order… and yes, I do have plenty of animals for a tea party celebration!
      Thanks so much Laura,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  7. I think of your little apple “pies” as date pies…so special.

Lian’s dress is wonderful! Those bullion roses are just superb. You make each of your dresses so very special, Jeanne.

    Take care.

    1. HI Becky,
Yes, I guess those were our “date” pies… one for him and one for me. I liked doing it this way instead of making a whole pie…which would have been hard to resist.
Well, I don’t know about my bullions as superb… but I’m trying to get better….now Cindy Rice makes superb bullions!
      Thanks so much Becky,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  8. The dress is lovely. What kind of buttons do you have for the back? The hat is charming — I love the scallops around the brim. You and everyone else are right — your details make everything pretty and special.
I’m so glad you had enough left over ingredients for pies of your own. Now you know for sure the big pie was as good as it looked. Think of coming home to find that pie.

    1. HI Marilyn,
I just got Lian’s dress finished so it won’t go on Ebay until tomorrow evening. I tried with all my might to get it finished so I could have it go on tonight, but that didn’t happen.
The back has tiny white buttons… I thought about using little lavender hearts but they blended in too much.
I’m glad I got the try to pies for myself too. I’ll see DV in the morning so I’ll find out what he thought of the pie. I hope it was as good as any he’s had here in the U.S.
      Thanks Marilyn,
I’ve got to get my post written for tomorrow and then get to bed. We had company coming tomorrow…
      Blessings, Jeanne
