“V” is for Velvet…Velvet dresses that is…

My hubby wasn’t feeling great today from the cold that he’s had, but he did bring in our Christmas containers from the garage and they are stacked in the corner, just waiting for “someone” to unload them… it won’t be me for a few days as I have a big Married Couple’s Christmas Party that I am in charge of this Thursday evening. Nothing is getting done except “party stuff” for now..

Except, I do have to keep up with my blog posts
I have been going through my pictures and I have a few more “velvet” Christmas dresses to show you. I believe I showed one or two of them before, but I hope you don’t mind seeing some different shots of the dresses. They are mostly of Nyssa…all the same doll, but just in different eyes and wigs. She is such a versatile doll! I guess I should have done a completely “velvet” post… but I won’t show the American Girl doll dresses again…I did them a few posts back.

I do have one dress that my Little Darling, Isabelle is wearing. It is an embossed dark red velvet and it is wonderful as a little dress. It tied for 3rd place when I entered it in a contest on the Little Darlings doll forum one Christmas.
I’ll do Isabelle’s pictures first and then the rest will be of Nyssa.

It has been very cold here and sleeting off and on most of the day. I hope you’re staying warm wherever you are…

See you tomorrow,

I am enthralled with these dresses ! They remind me of what my mother would create before a special day. She created enchanted dresses for her girls and for herself. Putting everything else aside that happened to her in her life, the dresses she was able to sew gave her incredible joy. That is what I see when I look at these beautiful velvet creations. Thank you for showing us these delights.

    1. Hi Jeannie,
Thanks so much… My mom always kids me and tells me “I” taught “her” how to sew… I guess I just had the knack for learning how to sew…it came so easy to me…AND I’ve been doing it F-O-R-E-V-E-R!!! That helps!
I’m glad you enjoyed looking at my “velvet” creations… and glad they made you think of your mom! That’s a nice thing! I have a whole tub of crushed velvet and wish I had started sooner on Christmas dresses… I guess I’ll try harder next year.
      Blessings, Jeanne

  2. Such regal and festive dresses in velvet that you’ve made. I love velvet, but do not like sewing with it. You have mastered it. Thank you for sharing them.
Hope you can get back to your sewing soon.

    1. HI Cindy and thank you for your kind comments.
I am in the middle of making cookies for our Married Couples Christmas Party on Thursday evening. I am in a sewing mood too… too bad I can’t do both at the same time…
      Blessings, Jeanne

  3. Oh Jeanne, what adorable works of beauty those precious velvet dresses are! I just love the first picture of Isabelle at her dressing table, just adorable! All the dresses are so very special looking, I think velvet is so romantic! And I guess the reason is, that my wedding gown was velvet too, with white fur trim around the sleeves. We got married the day after Christmas, since I always wanted a Christmas wedding! Not so good when you have children and grandchildren, unfortunately! But then, who was thinking of that?

Velvet will always be very special to me, and I much prefer it to the sparkly, lacy creations. It is so timely and classic and never goes out of style. Thank you for posting these lovely dresses!

    1. Hi Linda,
Oh, your wedding dress sounds SO beautiful… send me a picture of it… I’d love to see it. I’ve never seen a white velvet wedding dress, that I can remember.
I have a whole tub of velvets and sadly the time is running short for me to make them into Christmas dresses for this year. I need to switch to Christmas in July I think…
      Thanks so much, Blessings, Jeanne
