Trixie Tonner’s Turquoise dress now has some embellishments…

Trixie’s in turquoise, and isn’t she sweet
I think that it’s tea time, her friends she will meet

CIMG2888

Lace has been added around her small waist
A little blue bow is tied in its place

CIMG2886

Tiny white buttons are seen on the back
Sewn just beneath them are silvery snaps

The dress isn’t hemmed yet, it’s the next thing I’ll do,
I hope that you like it, I do, yes I do

CIMG2875

More will be added…a slip, and a hat
This was a quick one but now I must scat!

A storm’s coming…I can hear the thunder rolling in… I need to get off before I lose my satellite and can’t get this published…

Sorry for the short post…

See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

  1. We had a lightning storm last night — sheets of lightning in a big cloud, but I didn’t hear about any associated bad weather — however, today there are flood warning for nearby counties, but not, thank heavens, for mine. I hope your storm wasn’t as bad as you thought it might be. Isn’t your sale coming up again?

The dress is lovely and summery. Tights? Lace stockings? White shoes? The last few dresses have gone very smoothly. I hope that means the next one will as well. Clever of Trixie to have chosen her accessory early. I really like the back of her hair. I’d like mine to do that.

And I’m glad Molly got her tiger, at least for now. The high bidder may choose something else, but, like Molly, I like the tiger’s smile.

    1. HI Marilyn,
The storm that was coming our way just sort of missed us… it wasn’t bad at all and I never lost my internet service. But it sure was looking bad…
The yard sale is the 29th and 30th… and we’ve all been watching the weather… it’s got rain in the forecast but that’s still a long way out, so I’m hoping it goes away.

I haven’t looked at my shoes for Trixie’s size foot yet… but I’m guessing probably white. I’m probably making thigh highs for her…
She is a pretty little doll… I just hope she sells some dresses for me! :o/

Yes, Molly is guarding the tiger on my cutting table… :o)
      Thanks Marilyn,
I hope no flooding comes your way…
      Blessings, Jeanne

      1. I was hoping you wouldn’t have an awful storm — and you didn’t. I’m so glad. No floods for either of us.

  2. Great rhyming, great dress…and hopefully not a great (big) storm.

Trixie is looking quite cute in her pretty turquoise dress.

    Take care.

    1. Thanks for liking the poem and the dress and no… the storm kind of went another direction and so it was pretty mild here! Thank goodness.
      Thank you Becky,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  3. Oh, loved your poem ! You are just too creative, Jeanne.
Trixie’s dress is adorable and she wears it well. It is a gorgeous color on her. I like the blue and white trim on the bottom of her waist and the blue intertwine in the lace. Again, no detail is over looked.
Hope your storm wasn’t bad and that everyone is safe. Glad Marilyn is safe too from the floods.

    1. HI Paula,
As you can probably tell from the style of my poem… I LOVED Dr. Seuss and think most of my poems have a little bit of his flavor to them…
Thanks for your kind words about Trixie’s dress… it’s nice when everything comes together like this one has. :o)
Our storm wasn’t bad and sort of dissolved before it got here…for which I was very thankful!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  4. Hope the storm passed by quickly and you didn’t lose your connection.
Trixie is looking good. Your early morning poetry, for me, is so funny. Loved it.
I’m thinking maybe a sleeve top was caught or something as it appears to be puffier on one than the other? Those pins with yellow heads really stand out. Maybe some yellow added in an accessory. Just a thought.
Sun is out. Beautiful day ahead here.

    1. HI Joy,
The storm did pass by quickly and sort of “missed” us I think. I was certain I would lose my internet service, but it stayed on, I was able to publish my post, I went to bed and never heard a peep out of the storm…minus a few thunder rumblings…

Yes, you have a good eye… one of the armhole seams got caught, and they were tacked down so that’s something still to be done.

We had a sunny, hot, hot day here… The heat index was about 105 and it was muggy!
I’m ready for some normal weather… say in the 80’s or 70’s!
      Thanks Joy,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  5. Trixie looks terrific in turquoise, it’s true!
It’s such a lovely shade of blue–
She’ll definitely need a summery shoe,
And what kind of slip and hat will you do?

So cool and breezy for mid-July,
My Patsy just loves it; She tells me to buy!
But I’m sure many buyers for this one will vie
If I don’t win the bid, I hope Patsy won’t cry!

    1. Awww… Anne,
What an adorable poem… I love it! Trixie does too!
I wasn’t expecting that and it really made my day when I read it!
      Thanks SO much!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  6. Wow, we seem to have a few good poets here, Jeanne! Anne, that is so cute! Did that take long to do?

Well, I am in no rhyming mood today. We had a storm last night, and the yard is full of leaves and twigs—-again! What a mess! I hope your storm wasn’t too bad, Jeanne.

That dress is just adorable, and I wonder what you will pick for her hair, a bow, headband, hat? I guess she needs shoes and socks too to make the outfit come together.
Trixie reminds me of your little friend Sara, from South America. Is she still living in Carbondale or did she leave? Just wondering about her!

    1. HI Linda,
      I know… isn’t Anne’s poem just wonderful? I loved it!

The storm sort of bypassed us and I guess you got the brunt of it… We barely got anything…

I worked at the Food Pantry today and then had some errands to run, so I haven’t made it to my sewing room yet, but I need to get in there and see what I can get finished for Trixie’s dress set.

Yes, Sara is still here. We just celebrated her mom’s birthday with her family the other day. Sara stays very busy with school… and is just flourishing there. I asked her if she had sewn anything lately and she shook her head. I think the clarinet that she’s started playing takes up her free time. She is involved in lots of activities at school. LOTS!
I got her mom a book on making and decorating cupcakes and Sara was excited at the book. She and a little friend made some cookies and took them to a place on campus and they made $21.00. She was thrilled!
      Thanks for asking Linda,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  7. Hi Linda!

I thought I would have some fun and comment on Jeanne’s poem with one of my own. I hope she wasn’t offended. I had some key words in mind that I wanted to use, so it did not take very long to compose. I also taught kindergarten and first grade, spending a lot of time on rhyming words for those early readers, so you could say I’m an experienced rhymer! Thank you for your kind words.

Most of my dolls, including all of my Ag dolls, are in storage, and I don’t own an Effner LD yet. The dolls I keep out to “play” with are the Tonner girls — Patsy, Gracie, Sophie and Ann Estelle. So I am very excited when one of the Tonner girls “makes some noise” and asks for a new Jeanne Marie original. I have my eye on this one!

I hope you didn’t lose too much sleep because of the storm, and that you have been able to clean up your yard — again — without too much trouble. God certainly likes to keep us on our toes sometimes! All the best, Linda! Anne Johnson

  8. Anne,
I don’t want to “hijack” Jeanne’s blog, but thank you for your reply! You sound like a fun person, and you are a fellow teacher too! I also love the little ones, and taught them art in the elementary grades.

I certainly hope you get this dress for your dollies!

All my best to you too!
    Linda
