Today is my 500th post! Can you believe it?

I can hardly believe it but today is my 500th post. Ahemmmm…consecutive post…that is! I never dreamed I’d have this much to talk about; and I don’t think I’m a “Chatty Cathy” either, but you kept me engaged and I kept posting… Thanks for a great year…it’s been a lot of fun for me.

What would make my 500th post even more exciting is if we had a GIVEAWAY!…not an “advertised one” but one that is secret…not mentioned in the title, but for those of you who read every day and find it out secretly…SO LET’S DO IT!

I have a slip that fits the American Girl dolls and didn’t make it quite full enough, so it’s just been laying around. Someone might like it, so if that might be YOU, just leave a comment below or send me an email letting me know you’d like to be in on the drawing. I’ll let the comments stay open until Midnight Central Time zone tonight… and then I’ll draw out a winner. Here’s what the slip looks like… (please note: it does have a slight flaw about 1 inch up from the bottom of the lace. It runs around the bottom of the whole skirt. The whole bolt was that way…you can see it in the picture if you look closely.)

I’m helping wrap toys for kids at our Food Pantry today…we are helping 360 families, and I have no idea how many kids toys I’ll be wrapping, but I talked my daughter, Rebecca, into helping me, so we’ll have a little mother-daughter time… if we get a chance!

See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

    1. Thanks Jeannie,
We may never want to wrap a present again for as long as we live, but it will be fun…
I have your name in the drawing…

  2. Jeanne, congrats on your 500th blog! When you have something fun to talk about, that’s all that matters!

Oh, I love that slip! Anything made by Jeanne Marie is the ultimate in any wardrobe! I certainly could use it, if anyone can!

Have fun with Rebecca today, nothing beats mother-daughter bonding! You are such a great example to her!

    1. HI Linda,
Thanks for your congrats to me and for being a faithful reader each day…

  3. Wow 500 already??? Congrats, Jeanne!

Have a great time today! Wrapping presents for others will be very rewarding in itself, getting to do it with Rebecca will make it much more enjoyable! 😀

(PS…this comment is not to enter the drawing,! ;o)

    1. HI Connie,
Just because you sew, doesn’t mean you should be excluded…. I’ll include your name… :o)
      Blessings, Jeanne

  4. Hi Jeanne,

As I mentioned before, I read your post every morning before I go to work. Usually I read it around 4:30-5 AM when I’m drinking my coffee. It starts my day off and gets my creative/right brain flowing first thing in the morning. I am just getting back into sewing and have started collecting dolls about a year ago. I have been sewing for a very lovely lady in Washington for over 7 months. She has commissioned around 25 dresses for her 3 different size dolls: American Girl, Kids N Cats, and My Twinn. The pictures I sent to you were some of the dresses I made for her out of the material she sent to me. In January, I am going to attempt my first wedding dress for her My Twinn doll. I really appreciate you sharing how you make things on the blog. I have learned so much. I can’t do a lot of fancy sewing, just simple things so when you post something I try it out so I can learn. Some time, I would like to see how you make the ruffled collars with the bias on them. Not sure if I am describing it correctly but it is the collar on your Lian dress which is the double layer find pink print which you have mentioned is your favorite dress. It is also one of my favorites of your dresses as well. Sorry for the long note. Have a blessed day today with Rebecca.

    1. HI Karen,
Thanks so much for enjoying what I write about each day… I’m glad you’re learning something too…
I made a note of what you asked to see and will do a future post on it…
I’ve got your name in for the drawing…
      Blessings, Jeanne

  5. Congratulations on the 500th post!!!

Here’s hoping you will continue this. Your posts regularly send me to my sewing area with ideas.

    1. Thank you Maureen,
I’m glad I inspire you to sew….and create new things… That’s what I wanted this blog to be about…
Your name is in the drawing…
      Blessings, Jeanne

  6. Whoa! great! I would love the slip so count me in. It is still in far better shape then any I have. Keep it up. You take great photographs.

    1. HI April,
I will add your name to the drawing for the slip… thanks for being a part of my little blog world…
      Blessings, Jeanne

  7. Congrats, Jeanne! It’s amazing that through this “internetland” we can make friends that we’ve never even met. You’ve inspired me to blog more and I can’t imagine not reading what you have to say every morning (even though you don’t always read a comment from me, I DO read your blog daily). Enjoy your day with Rebecca, my friend.

    1. HI Cindy,
Thank you so much for almost always commenting on my posts. I read yours on my phone and always tell myself to comment later and it seems you get another posted before I get comments on the first one…sorry!! :o(
I’ll add your name to the slip drawing, even though you sew… you shouldn’t be excluded just because you make doll dresses… :o) I’m sure you could find someone to give it to if you want to…
      Blessings, Jeanne

  8. I always *read* – I don’t always ‘write back’…but, your postings are at the top of my ‘to do’ list every morning. 🙂 Thanks for ‘being there’! …and congratulations on a successful endeavor!

    1. HI MaryC,
I appreciate your faithfulness at reading my posts each morning. I hope you enjoy them…
I have your name in the drawing for the slip… maybe it will be one of your girls who “swoon!” I love that word…
      Blessings, Jeanne

  9. Congratulations Jeanne on your 500th post! I can’t imagine not reading your posts and seldom do I miss them in the morning. It has been such a joy to read and “meet” your other friends through your blog too. Such a wonderful group of ladies.
I hope you enjoy your day wrapping gifts with Rebecca. It’s fun to wrap presents but as many as you may be wrapping, you’ll be worn out. A good worn out feeling.
    Have a wonderful day!

    1. Thank you Paula,
I’m glad you are one of my readers and I have enjoyed every post I’ve written and every comment as well… I DO have a great group of ladies who read and it’s fun for me to see the interaction between you all…

      Blessings, Jeanne

    1. HI Beth,
I’m so glad you joined in on the fun that we have here…

      Blessings, Jeanne

I, too, look forward to your Post and read it first thing every morning . As I have mentioned any number of times, you have been an inspiration to me. I can believe you’ve done the Post, but what I find amazing is that you send a nice message to everyone in reply . How generous you are with your time.

Have fun with Rebecca. The Christmas spirit is certainly alive and well at your house.

    1. HI Susette,
I have lots of ladies reading the morning and see you are one of them too…thank you!
You might think I have Christmas spirit at my house, but what I need a dose of is some good Christmas Cleaning… that’s coming soon! :o)
I have your name in the hat for the slip drawing…
      Blessings, Jeanne

  11. Congratulations on your 500th post. I didn’t realize I had read 500 of your posts. I don’t comment much, but love your ideas. Always enjoy entering your little give- always.
My granddaughter would be thrilled to have a new slip for her American Girl. I’ve been collecting dolls for over 30 years and appreciate ideas for clothes and accessories. Kept up your great work. Have a wonderful Christmas.

    1. HI Cindy,
I can’t believe I have WRITTEN 500 blog posts! It doesn’t seem possible.
I have your name in the drawing for the slip, so maybe your granddaughter will win it…
      Thanks so much Cindy,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  12. Hi Jeanne — I love your blog. When I wake up about 5:30, I turn on the lamp, get my IPad, check emails, etc, and then read your blog post before my feet ever hit the floor. It gets my day started off in a creative mode. When I comment, I have to wait until I get to my desktop because the IPad doesn’t like comments very much.

I have a dress that I made my very own Maryellen for Christmas over the last few days. I very rarely have time to sew for my own dolls, but I took the time to do this. AND it needs a white slip. Maryellen would certainly appreciate it, as her Anna probably won’t have time to make her one!!

    Congrats on your 500th post.

    1. HI Anna,
Wow…what an honor…you read my blog post before your feet ever hit the floor. :o)
I have your name in the drawing and I can hear Maryellen saying , “Please pick Anna’s name…”
      Thank you Anna,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  13. Congratulations, Jeanne! 500 is a LOT!!!! The best part is you always have something new and interesting, we’re never bored, just looking forward to what the next post will be!

    1. HI Jevne,
Thank you for being such a faithful reader and comment-er.. I appreciate it very much!
I’m thrilled that you find my posts interesting…
I have your name in the drawing… :o)
      Blessings, Jeanne

  14. Suzette is right — Christmas is alive and well where you are. I hope you and Rebecca have a wonderful day and enjoy each other’s company. I don’t know how you manage, but you always do.
I know just the dress for that slip, so put my name in for the give-away as well.

    1. Thank you Marilyn,
You are my biggest cheerleader and I appreciate all the kind things you have said about my doll things and how you encourage me in your emails…
I have your name entered in my slip drawing…
      Blessings, Jeanne

  15. Oh, congratulations on your 500th post. The Civil war dress is lovely. I guess Kirsten will get the first spring dress you make. Enjoy your day with Rebecca. I was 63 degrees this morning when we left for church. Just imagine, 63 in Ohio on December 13th.
Please enter me to win the lovely slip.

    1. HI Laura,
Thank you for congratulating me on my 500th post today!
I think I will just continue my list in the Spring..and I guess Kristen will be next… it’s too bad, her Christmas dress was going to be so lovely! If there was more time I might still try and make it… I guess I could do a one day listing… :o/
We are having exceptionally nice weather too here in Southern Illinois…
I have your name down for the slip drawing…
      Blessings, Jeanne

  16. Congratulations on your 500th post! I have “followed” you for years on ebay and was lucky enough to buy a dress for my Effanbee Katie. Your designs are so beautiful that I have saved images to inspire me to sew for my granddaughters dolls and themselves. Well someday anyway….I would love to be in the drawing for the slip. Keep up the good work cause everytime I think you can’t top a design, you do!

    1. Thank you Donna,
What very kind words you’ve showered on me. Thank you very much! I’m glad to have a long time follower and if you have something from me for your Katie Effanbee, you’ve been around for quite a while.
I’m glad you enjoy the blog each day…
I have you down in the drawing for the slip…
      Blessings, Jeanne

  17. Speaking of Chatty Cathy, I only recently found how much she resembles the American Girl doll. Those came out much after my doll years, but she is very interesting.
Hope your package wrapping goes well. Know your work will be greatly appreciated.

    1. Hi Joy,
Thanks so much for your comments… we just got home…and it was a lot of work, but very rewarding…
I have your name in the drawing for the slip…
      Blessings, Jeanne

  18. Hi Jeanne, So glad you have posted all these little blog notes and pictures.. Makes my day weather I read late at night or early during the day.

    Love the slip . Lynne

    1. Thank you Lynne,
I’m so happy to have you as a reader each day… I hope you enjoy yourself…
I’ve got your name in the drawing for the slip…
      Blessings, Jeanne

  19. Congratulations! I’m terrible at blogging, but I love reading the handful that I get inspiration from! That slip is adorable! I see the flaw, but it reminds me of my grandmother who wouldn’t be put out by such things. She shared Kit’s motto: “Use it up, wear it out, make it do, or do without!” So, I like it….flaw and all! Especially the tiny flower. 🙂

    1. Thank you Amanda,
I’m happy to have your name down for the slip drawing… and I like what your grandmother and Kit’s’s motto was… I’m that way just about everything…
      Blessings, Jeanne

  20. Your give aways are so much fun. In case I should win please give it to Cindy P. I won the lovely green sparkle slip. If you can, could you type the name of the light weight iron you blogged about. I have searched the blog but cannot find the little iron’s name. I read usually at lunch but it can be almost anytime I want to find out about your news for the day.Protect the hands and fingers from paper cuts

I wrote about a Sunbeam Hot2Trot Mini Steam Iron that I found on eBay but Amazon has it also. It is the perfect size for doll clothes and I use it with a sleeve board instead of having to set up the big ironing board. I use the right-hand button for a burst of steam instead of constant steam as it gets a little hot. This may be what you’re looking for.

      1. Thanks so much for the information on the iron. My full size iron is too heavy for me to pick up and use so husband needs to be on hand to help. With this small iron I will be one step closer to independence. He has enough to do as it is as he has taken over all that I used to do.

    2. HI Jan,
Thanks for your generosity to Cindy P if your name is drawn out for the slip.. I surely will.
I see that Susette has anwered you about the iron…
      Blessings, Jeanne
