Things got a little “hairy” around here today… still playing…

If you missed yesterday’s blog post, you might want to read it first… (HERE)

You were probably expecting to see a finished dress set today, weren’t you? Well, good news, the dress is almost ready to be listed on Ebay, so it will be very soon, but today I did a little doodling with that baby doll again. It’s ALL Joy’s fault… she practically dared me to put a wig on the baby… well, in actuality, she just mentioned, “I wonder if that dolly could be wigged?” I mentioned in my comment to her, that I had some Tibetan Lambswool and should give it a try sometime… Well, the next part is my hubby’s fault. I showed him the baby doll and he thought she needed the hair on her head to be darker. I got out my brown water color pencil again, and “almost” started to darken her wispy hair, but I remembered that Tibetan lambswool… and so I drug out my bag of scraps I had collected, since making a few doll wigs in the past.

Want to see my very first lambswool wig? It’s a hoot! I didn’t quite get the hair going in the right directions, and have since learned about cutting them out so they lay right… This was a huge mistake and Nyssa never forgave me for making her pose for a picture of it on her head.

Once you quit laughing, you can finish reading…

In my bag of lambswool scraps, I had white, blonde, carrot red, auburn and black. I held a few snippets up to the baby doll and the black was out and so was the white. The blonde looked awful with her skin tone. That left the auburn and the carrot red. They both looked pretty good next to her, but since she had that sweet little pink onesie on, I decided on the auburn…(yep, I cut up that wig of Nyssa’s… no big loss!)

I took my tacky glue and started at the back of her head, down at the bottom, and worked my way around her head. I snipped off pieces of the lambswool and laid it on the glue line and covered each row as I worked up to the crown of her head… then I gave her a bit of a hair cut… but not a precise one… I wanted it to be a little wild….(although, I’m crushed… Rebecca said she looked like a homeless baby!) :o(
I think she’s pretty cute…

Oh, I took her clothes off, so you could see her body…it’s pretty cute too…

The little pink cap that came on her bald head, still fits…

…but I prefer this tiny little baby headband…made from a piece of ruffled elastic…with a pink bow, of course…

So here’s yesterday and today’s looks…

Okay, now I’m going to be real nice and give you one teaser picture…

It’s not much to go on, but if you come back tomorrow, you just might see the rest of it…

Thanks everyone,

See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

  1. Oh, that baby doll is just so sweet after her “make over”, Jeanne! I love the new hairdo, and I think it looks just perfect! I really like the headband on her, it certainly makes her look like a baby girl!
Do I spy an AG doll in the background? Those shoes are telling me it is! The fabric of the dress is just darling and will go very well with the stroller and baby. You ARE keeping the baby, aren’t you? I can’t wait to see just who the big sister/babysitter is, and what she is wearing! You sure do know how to keep us hanging!!!

    1. HI Linda,
Oh, aren’t we the super sleuth? Just wait a little bit longer and you’ll find out who that is pushing the stroller.
The baby and stroller ARE included in the set…I don’t need another youngster to sew for… :o)
      Thanks Linda,
      Blessings, Jeanne

    1. Thank you Beth,
I’m glad you like her… It was a fun project! I might have to get another one and try it again, only do something different… :o)
      Blessings, Jeanne

    1. HI April,
Oh, dear me, I think I better stick to my girls I already have… while I enjoyed doing this, I like “buying” wigs and replacing them on my girls. But I might have to do this one more time for a future listing…it was fun!
      Thank you April,
      Blessings, Jeanne

    2. Hi April,
Do you do reborning? I have some of the paints I used in a class..could you use them?
      Kathie

  2. The AG (I agree with Linda — I think the babysitter is an AG) dress fabric is perfect — it goes with the stroller nicely but the effect is that it’s not intentional. It’s a lovely spring into summer print, and the lace is lovely. As usual, you have given us something to look forward to tomorrow.

    1. HI Marilyn,
Well, just like Linda, you’ll have to wait to be sure if it’s an AG doll… :o)
My blog has become like one big long saga… each day continues with the next.
      Blessings,Jeanne

  3. Oh Nyssa’a expression is priceless! You are going to have to do something nice for her soon to make up for making her model with the red poof on her head.
Your baby doll is so cute. I said “Awww” out loud when I saw her with the bow.
I agree that the babysitter’s feet do look like AG feet. The edge of the dress looks like the colors will coordinate wonderfully with the pink and lavender of the baby items. I’m looking forward to seeing the who scene.
Hope you have a good day.
    Take care.

    1. Hi Charlotte,
Isn’t Nyssa’s expression the funniest thing? I took that a few years ago and whenever I see that picture go by when I’m looking for something else, I have to stop and open it up and laugh for a second!
I’m glad you like dear baby… she does look much sweeter now, I think.
The dress on ________ does go very well with the stroller…it was planned that way! :o)
      Thanks Charlotte,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  4. The hair is wonderful! Love it. Along with your eye enhancement this little one is cute as a cucumber now. Love how you matched the next dress to the baby dolly/stroller. Great fabric. Perhaps an AG, but maybe it’s time for a Wellie? Can’t wait for the next episode to see.
Had unusual rain here last night. Everything is wet. What’s with that? Plants are loving it though.
Actually uncovered the sewing machine and started on a swimsuit for a LD. Should be interesting.

    1. Ahhh… Joy,
Thanks for the “wig” comment…If you hadn’t suggested it, this poor baby doll would still be sporting pencil drawn on hair! :o) She thanks you and so do I!
I did have Willa down on the table, a time or two… :o)
I don’t think I have ever made a swimsuit for the Little Darlings… I hope yours goes well…
It’s been hot here, no signs of rain for us in the near future…
      Blessings, Jeanne

  5. To the totally transformational teaser today! You’re holding us on pins and needles today, Jeanne…what fun.

    Blessings

    1. Hi Becky,
Nothing like a good suspense story, is there?
Hope you will all like “the ending!”
      Blessings, Jeanne

  6. Awesome job on that cute baby doll! I liked the penciled on hair but Georges idea for hair is adorable. Can you steal any more hair? I think she needs one more row in the front…it looks plentiful in front of the ears but across the forehead needs just a tad more IMHO ? That tiny headband is the perfect accessory. Having the baby in the auction is a super idea…good marketing. Does the baby get Clothes too? Your ideas are just so original…and they just keep coming!

    1. Hi Kathie,
Rebecca actually she looked like a “balding homeless baby” so maybe she does need a little more hair in front…
She didn’t get any clothes, but maybe if I do another one, she’ll get some clothes…
Ok…I’m off to check out her hairline…
      Thanks Kathie,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  7. Molly’s new outfit is already on Ebay — the suspense for tomorrow is over. What a pretty dress, and the sizes of Molly and the baby are perfect. I loved Joy’s “cute as a cucumber,” though come to think of it, cucumbers aren’t any cuter than “cute as a bug” or “cute as a button.” I always like having two Jeanne Marie auctions on Ebay at the same time. Excellent pictures, and is the use of the instant access pictures new? I’ll have to go back to see if you did that for the blue dress. You do an excellent job of showing prospective buyers what they’ll be getting.
Have a good night. See you tomorrow.
