Surely you knew since I was from Illinois, I’d have to be for the Cubs in the World Series. (Truth be known, I’m actually a big Cardinals fan), but since that didn’t pan out this year, I went with the Cubs….and boy what a game it was tonight! I can’t believe I still have all my fingernails intact. It was quite the nail biter of a game!
I did some sewing earlier and got a few things done before the game came on, but after it started, I sewed during the commercials…(anybody else do that?) Sometimes I do my dishes that way too! :o) Anyway, it was such a historical game and I didn’t want to miss a thing, so I mostly watched and only fiddled around the rest of the evening.
I asked Rebecca if she could make a necklace for this dress set and she said she could, but probably tomorrow… I’ll have to wait on her schedule… so that’s a picture of something I can’t show you just yet. I do however have a few teaser pictures to show you but you’ll have to wait for the rest… I’m almost finished, but not quite… I was looking up some pictures for a reticule and hair ideas…
Marilyn already thought of the name for this dress… “Christmas Rose” and I think it’s so fitting… You will too, when you see it all in one picture!
I’ll share what I can with you and you’ll have to “fill in all the blanks!”

The Cubs won!!!! Congratulations to Illinois, but like you, Jeanne, I am a Cardinals fan. I guess it’s about time though, for a Cubs win. Just wait till next year though!! I too was watching the game, and it certainly WAS a nail biter! I can’t believe you are able to sew that late in the night, since if I sew, I wrap it up around 3 in the afternoon or so. Even with crafts, nothing after 3:00! But then I’m a morning person, you know!
I love the double bows at the empire waistline—so festive! The pantalettes are a sweet addition and I am anxious to see what her reticule and necklace will be like! You certainly have a real charmer of a dress in the works!

Sewing at night has always been my best time… the day is done, all my jobs are finished and it’s just MY time…

I don’t know much about sports, but I do read Sara Paretsky’s books so I did know that the Cubs don’t spend a lot of time winning — I think Paretsky’s detective, VI Washawski, is a Cubs fan, so this will be lovely for her. She’s been waiting a long time for this.
The Christmas Rose dress looks as pretty as it did yesterday, but clearly a lot has happened in the meantime. It looks destined to be another favorite, one that will show up often through the years. Which reminds me, maybe in December you can do a show of Christmas dresses for us. There are sure to be some wonderful ones, even some I haven’t seen.

Love the sneak peaks, Jeanne. The Regency Era is known as a period of great refinement, and this dress seems to be just that–elegant and refined. I’ve always loved the empire waist and slimmer skirt of this period, as they are so universally figure flattering. The empire waistline was again quite popular in the 1970s when I was a young adolescent, and I happily wore many of them, particularly of a peasant style. As always, I look forward to seeing the completion of “Christmas Rose” with all your special finishing touches, including Rebecca’s lovely contribution. What a beautiful start to the Christmas season it will be!
I’m not much of a sports fan, but I’m glad you took time to enjoy The World Series game with your hubby, Jeanne. Congrats to The Cubs and all their supporters. 108 years is a long wait, and it was a game well played. Still proud of our team in Ohio for a great season!

No haven’t bought a Mini Maru yet. Just having LD Bessie Bell has been pretty expensive. If I do buy in it would probably be the dark haired one with long hair. I picture braids and other styles. We’ll see… Don’t think I can sneak in another package here though. 🙂
