The winner of the SLIP, a trike for taking TRIPS, and Patsy’s looking HIP…

I know that title is a bit lame, but I had to try… :o)

Oh my goodness, I had so much fun reading all about everyone yesterday in their comments. If you missed it, you can click HERE and see yesterday’s post and the comments left. I had a GIVEAWAY and asked everyone to tell something about themselves that we might not know…We got everything from being a ballerina, to working on the technical things on your car, to having your name added as a co-author to a book, to not owning a cell phone, one lady had a puppy who chewed through her wall, one lady had her “first date” with her hubby 2 weeks AFTER they were married, and SO many more. I had to read them a few times… and it was fun each time.

Well, the whole purpose of that was just to get to know each other and have something fun to read instead of just “Yes, I’d like to win the blue slip for my doll…” I had 26 people enter for a chance at the slip. I wrote everyone’s name on a slip of paper, shuffled them up, spread them out out on my cutting table,

closed my eyes and picked one… and our winner is Susette!

CIMG9317

I’ll get the slip out to you today! You said you just bought a pair of light blue shoes to go with a dress you were making… now you’ll have a pretty blue slip to go under it. Congratulations Susette!

Remember this tricycle I showed you a few weeks ago? It first looked like this…

CIMG8282-001

Then I got a little “crazy” with my white paint and changed it to this…

CIMG8289

Well, today I got a little ambitious… remember it’s still Craft Month, so I painted it red and black and put a little leather seat and pedals on it.

CIMG9297

You’ll have to use your imagination to think that Patsy’s looking “Hip” but I think she will when I’m done. Since I was working on Patsy’s new outfit, she wanted to show how she is the right size for the tricycle…

CIMG9304

Here’s another look at the fabric and a coordinating one I’m putting with it…

CIMG9308

…and a close up of the green one. Isn’t that the sweetest, tiniest print you’ve ever seen?

CIMG9310

Tuesday is my hubby’s day off and “so far” I don’t know of anything he has planned “for me” (to help him with) but sometimes he surprises me… I’m hoping to work on Patsy’s outfit…

Thanks again for all your comments yesterday… that was so much fun!

See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

  1. Oh my goodness, yesterday’s blog was so much fun! You can tell we are all a bunch of little girls at heart and it just made my day to hear all the interesting stories! So happy for Susette, who won the slip. By the way, yes, that picture you showed me yesterday of the little girl washing her doll clothes DID give me a shiver!!! LOL

It looks like Patsy will have a cute play outfit soon! The little tricycle looks so much better in red, and reminds me of the one I used to have—it was red too!

Good luck with sewing today and can’t wait to see what you do with the material you have chosen!

    1. HI Linda,
It was fun reading over the comments wasn’t it?
Yes, Patsy’s outfit is going to be sort of a dress, but sort of not!
So far, no projects from the hub’s yet…so maybe I can get some sewing done!
      Thanks Linda,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  2. Charlotte Trayer

I just love that trike since you painted it red and black!! It looks fantastic!!

I read all the entries from yesterday (too late to enter myself, though, darn it!), and thought I’d tell you one thing (well, one group of things) about myself that you might not know. My best friend and I met when my family moved to Stephenson, MI, in 1952; we were in first grade and were best friends right from the start, and still are. The thing that not everyone knows is how much June and I have in common–our MARRIED last names are one letter different (Troyer/Trayer), our anniversaries are the 18th (Aug./May), she has a son named Paul, I have a brother named Paul; her husband’s brother is Ron, my husband is Ron. Twice we’ve owned the same sewing machine, we often buy the same fabrics (2000 miles apart!), we used to wear the same clothing size (I gained weight), although she’s a little taller than I am. Also, many years ago, we each had the same kind of surgery. (At that point, my mother informed me we could quit copying each other now!! LOL)

    1. HI Charlotte,
Sorry you missed the drawing.. but I’m glad you put in your “interesting fact” about yourself…or should I say, interesting “factS!” That is incredible all the things that you and your friend June have/had in common. I think the most amazing thing is your last names… just one letter off… and I liked your mom’s line best at the end! Just like a mom to say something like that!
      Thanks so much,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  3. Hi Jeanne,

I enjoyed yesterdays blog so much. It truly was fun reading and learning about the girls that visit here. Congrats to Susette, I know the slip is going to be enjoyed.
I love the new patsy outfit. I’m crazy over mini prints. I live in the Niagara Falls New York area and have to visit a quilt shop in PA to find such sweet little prints. The trip is always worth it ; ) … the little trike is adorable I love the new color.
    Have a great day.
    Ingrid

    1. HI Ingrid,
I’m so glad to have learned a few more things about my readers yesterday too. I may have to read the comments again today.
Oh, if I lived near you, we’d hit that store in PA together… it sounds like my kind of place!
      Thank you so much Ingrid,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  4. I loved going back and reading all of yesterday’s posts! What a wonderful varied group of women brought together by their love for dolls! Thank you, Jeanne, for making your blog such a “community” environment!

The transformation of your trike into vintage red and black is wonderful! It’s just the right size for Patsy. Love the fabric you’ve chosen for her dress.

    Have a wonderful day!

    1. Hi Karen,
I think everyone enjoyed the comments yesterday, not just me! It is sort of like a little community here, isn’t it?
I would have sat Patsy on the tricycle and taken her picture, but it was still just a tiny bit tacky…
      Thanks Karen,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  5. Sorry I missed yesterday’s blog…internet was out in our area for the whole day. But, if it’s alright, I’ll just add a bit here about myself:

I live about 5-6 hours directly north of you, Jeanne.

Thanks for a wonderful opportunity to get to know one another.

    Take care.

    1. Thank you Becky,
Sorry about your internet being out. If you’re that close, maybe some day we’ll run into each other… My brother lives in Peoria..about 5 hours north of me… :o)
I’m glad you enjoyed the comments…I take it you read them when your internet came back on?
      Blessings, Jeanne

  6. Congrats to Susette!
Looking forward to seeing your creation for Patsy. Guessing, maybe a romper so she can ride the trike?
Trike turned out just like I imagined. I can see it decorated for the 4th of July parade too.

    1. HI Joy,
Patsy’s put in her two cents worth on this outfit, so you’ll see soon… :o)
The tricycle will be a great 4th of July prop!
      Thanks so much Joy,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  7. I’M SOOOO EXCITED!!! Thank you for the wonderful surprise. I won’t be able to wipe the smile off my face for quite a while. I have the plastic bag with the blue dress material and accessories sitting right next to me while reading that I won the slip! Hurray! Thank you, Jeanne. I’ll get busy with extra inspiration now.

I absolutely loved reading all of the stories: Violins, special children and orphaned children, dates, sewing machines, puppies and more than one could imagine on their own. I hope they’ll reissue the book on which Marilyn was a coauthor with wider distribution. What a wonderful group of friends you’ve shared with us.

The tricycle looks wonderful. You always surprise me. Ten Ping will love this also (red and black). The tiny print is the smallest I’ve seen and perfect for the dress. Your combination always surprise me and I wonder how you’ll bring it together. What an imagination you have! Can’t wait to measure how much elastic you use for the slips. I almost mentioned yesterday that the one I made was almost too tight. Thank you again for the lovely surprise and the community for the gift of so many very personal and interesting stories.

    1. HI Susette and congratulations in winning,
I hope you’ll enjoy the slip! They are fun to have under the dolls dresses. Now get busy on that blue dress and we want to see pictures, okay?
Yes, I’m still thinking about all the stories everyone shared yesterday… it was more fun than I ever imagined it would be.
Ten Ping has already spied the trike and “tried it on” for size…
      Have a fun day sewing…
      Blessings, Jeanne

  8. Marilyn Grotzky

More congratulations to Susette, and to Jeanne for choosing such a great topic and for making such a cute slip. I love Joy’s idea of the trike decorated for a 4th of July parade. Keep that in mind for scheduling dresses/outfits for summer. Is Patsy the best fit for the trike, or do some of the other girls work as well?

  9. Thank you Marilyn,
I like the little tricycle very much now that it’s more like an old fashioned one and will most definitely use it for the 4th of July.
Ten Ping fits on it pretty good, Patsy does, too, but I think Elin is the most poseable on it, so I like seeing her on it… Patsy’s arms don’t bend so they are just kind of out there.
    Thanks so much Marilyn,
    Blessings, Jeanne

  10. Congratulations Susette! How fun to win one of Jeanne’s many treasures! Yes, please show the outfit you’re making in blue.
Jeanne, the tricycle is adorable and with little Patsy standing next to it, is so cute. I’m sure Ten Ping is ready to stand next to it too. I agree with Joy in that it will be an excellent idea decorated for the 4th of July. Good job on the black seat.
It was fun reading all about the girls yesterday. I’m going to re-read it again in case I missed someone. Glad Charlotte and Becky added something about themselves today. What a great bunch of girls and such interesting things about each.
Loved the print for Patsy’s “outfit”. The two materials together are perfect.

    1. HI Paula,
I just sat Ten Ping on it and she’s pretty cute on it too….there might be a rush on it in July! I’m so glad everyone seemed to enjoy yesterday’s comments… I sure did. I’ll have to think of another question sometime and do it again…
I’ve got to get cookin’ on Patsy’s new outfit…
      Thanks Paula,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  11. The little Bike is such a cute accessory…and the black and red gives it more personality. Your fabric choices are darling as always…how could those greens match any better?
To answer your question from the posts yesterday…….
Yes, My Grandma taught me to sew on her treadle…in our basement. She lived with us until I was 10 and she was so sweet. She had heart trouble and her Doctor told her to have a beer every night. She would get her beer and she would pour me some in one of those tiny juice glasses. What in the world would happen if that was today? She’d probably be put in jail !
Just as a follow up..I have continued to sew, for kids and dolls and quilt…and only have a beer if it’s good and cold on a hot day!

    1. Thank you so much Kathie,
I think I’ll use this little trike quite a bit…especially during the summer months…
One of my favorite things to do is mix and match up my fabrics… when I found this green, I said, “Yep…that’s it!”
You are so funny with your beer story… and your grandma… oh my goodness…she must have been a hoot! Thanks for sharing that, Kathie,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  12. ha! when I saw that trike, before, I *imagined* it was bigger! I do like the ‘colored one’ better… very cool!
    Congrats to Suzette! 🙂
We’re anxiously awaiting Patsy’s ”reveal” – I’ve been catching up on some quilting after ‘surviving’ the doll sales.
I haven’t decided what doll I want to make something for – so, the quilting is good for keeping me busy right now. 🙂

    1. Thank you Mary,
Patsy has been trying to ride the tricycle on my cutting table all day! :o)
I did a little rearranging in my sewing room, so I am scrambling on Patsy’s set…
      Thanks Mary
      Blessings, Jeanne
