The start of a Prairie Dress for Kirsten…

Now don’t get your hopes up, there’s not much to see
But soon there’ll be more, I think I foresee…
A pretty blue dress for Kirsten from the prairie
It fits her just fine and looks nice and airy

There might be an apron and some tucks in her skirt
So she can still wear it if she has a growth spurt
I’ll make it look dainty and feminine too
I knew it’d be perfect when she picked this blue!

Just a little ditty to introduce you to the beginnings of Kirsten’s newest dress in the works. You’ll have to put on your “imagination caps” for this one as most of the pieces aren’t assembled together yet. But, you’ve done this before and I’m sure you can probably figure this one out too!

See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

  1. That’s going to be just adorable, Jeanne! I love the soft blue and pink on Kirsten, and that pink ruffle around the sleeve is just what it needs to give it a “pop”! I’m so glad you will be able to sew this weekend, rain is forecast, and a LOT of it!

    1. Thank you Linda,
I hope it turns out as sweet as I think it might!
I hate to do blue so often for Kirsten but she just looks so pretty in it.
So far, we’ve just had sprinkles but I’m sure more rain is coming…
      Thanks Linda,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  2. Kirsten is pretty
    And her dress is too.
    With pops of pink
    And a background of blue.
    I’m looking forward to seeing
    What else you do.
    Have a good day!
    Take care

    1. Hi Charlotte,
Love your poem! Aren’t we the clever one today?
I plan to have a good day and hope you do too!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  3. Kirsten looks so perfect in the blue. Can’t wait to see the finished product.
Weather here lovely but watering required.

    1. Hi Joy,
You are so right…Blue is definitely Kirsten’s best color.
It was so soggy here yesterday that I pulled the weeds out of my sidewalk in a snap.
      Thanks Joy,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  4. We’re supposed to have snow tomorrow and I’ve got the new plants covered, but right now the weather is perfect.
Congratulations on two more successful auctions and congratulations to the winners. Since there are many fewer of these dolls than there are of the AGs or the Effners, dresses in these sizes are harder to find and harder to auction. I’m glad this went so well for everyone concerned.
The new Kirsten dress is looking lovely. I’m looking forward to tomorrow already. A pinafore would be pretty. Are you thinking of a sunbonnet or one or a Kirsten cap?

    1. SNOW? Oh Marilyn, how can you stand it?
I don’t know what I’d do if we got snow now…it would be a real shock…
Thanks for the congrats on my auctions last night. They are on their way to their new moms.
I haven’t decided what her cap or bonnet will be like just yet. I’ll decide as I get more of her dress done….I hope to get more done today for a nice set of pictures on Saturday!
      Thanks Marilyn,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  5. My hubby thanks you for the cookies…his favorite things…chocolate and peanut butter. Made them last night and had them for breakfast. Oatmeal is a good breakfast ..right?
Love the start of your new dress..that ruffle is adorable..can’t wait to see the rest.
Making strawberry rhubarb jam today…it will take an umbrella to pick the rhubarb

    1. Hi Kathie,
I had one for breakfast the next morning too!
There were only 2 left…one for me and one for the hubs!
I’m working on Kirsten’s dress right now. It’s going to be cute, I think.
Have fun making your jam…I LOVE strawberry rhubarb pie!
      Thanks Kathie
      Blessings, Jeanne

  6. The new Kirsten dress looks beautiful already. Can’t wait to see it finished. Congratulations on the auctions yesterday.

There is a free pattern at Pixie Faire today for an open-toed shoe that’s pretty cute for summer for 14-1/2 inch dolls. I seldom remember about Friday Freebies. Thanks for the tip about it to whoever sent it in. Rain, rain, go away there, but we need some more here in California. Have a lovely weekend.

    1. Hi Susette,
I’m working on Kirsten’s dress right now…making those growth tucks. She’s liking it so far.
I forgot to look at the Freebie Friday too. I’ll have to take a peek.
Thanks for the congrats on my dresses last night.
      Blessings, Jeanne

  7. Kirsten looks lovely in the start of her prairie dress. I really like the little ruffle touch to the sleeve tops. Blue is perfect to pick up her eyes. I often wondered why more of each historical dolls canon wardrobe wasn’t planned to suit her eyes or hair better. Felicity Christmas gown really should have be green for example.
Well, in August there will be another historical AG, Nanea from 1940’s Hawaii. Have you seen her? I do think it’s interesting that they are re-visiting an era they’ve had in the past from a different area and how different her collection will obviously be compared to Molly’s.

    1. Hi Laura,
I told someone earlier I know Kirsten gets lots of blue dresses but she should, with those eyes of hers.
No, I haven’t seen Nanea yet. I just saw Z yesterday. I need to check out some other doll blogs or American Girl Playthings to see what the reaction is to her.
      Thanks Laura,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  8. Hi Jeanne,
What a pretty color combination. Blue really is the prettiest color for Kristen. Maybe you’ll have a little fabric left for a little darling outfit wink wink. Enjoy your weekend!
    Hugs
    Ingrid
PS I’ve graduated from a walker to a cane yeah for me! Thanks again for the sweet card, everytime I see it that cute duck in her huge hat makes me smile : )

    1. Hi Ingrid,
Welcome back to commenting! I guess congratulations are in order on your move to the cane! I hope you are improving every day!
I’m glad you like Kirsten’s new blue dress. I’m still working on it…it sure seems to be taking up a lot of my time…hmmmm.
      Thank you Ingrid,
      Blessings, Jeanne
