Thanksgiving #1 with our Columbian friends…

Well, I survived Day 1 of our Thanksgiving feasts… and what a feast we had! We decided to have Thanksgiving 2 days in a row… on Wednesday we had our kids and Edgar, Alba and Sara (from Columbia) for a Thanksgiving dinner. I was in the kitchen most of the day and took just a few shots of what I was doing… Here’s the Corn Casserole…

Alba got dibs on the leftovers… (she was quite thrilled!!!)

Next is the Sweet Potato Souffle…

Kristoffer said “his name” was on the leftovers of it…

I made about 5-6 dozen chocolate chip cookies…

I remembered to take a picture of my table while it was all pretty…not fancy, but pretty… I found my tablecloth at Bed Bath and Beyond back in the summer in the clearance tablecloths…it had been $29.99…and I snagged it for $4.99. It’s really nice! JEANNE SCORES BIG!!!

Kristoffer brought over a homemade Red Velvet cake for dessert and it was wonderful!

My hubby and Alba rinsed the dishes for me…

…so it wasn’t too much work to get finished. I guess we should have taken a group picture, but we were too busy visiting… we talked about everything from the difference between lima beans and butter beans, how pretty Rebecca’s red hair was, which led us to talking about how fast each of our hair grew in a month, then we discussed recipe differences between the US and Columbia, we talked about them going back for a visit to Columbia in a few weeks… (it’s been 3 years since they’ve seen their family) and then Edgar had a fun time taking selfies with Reuben… it was non stop chatter for several hours… and I enjoyed every minute of it!

We’ll have our friends, Jean and Bithar and their 4 kids from Haiti over Thursday…

I’m ready… for Thanksgiving Day #2…Can you believe it? Nothing got spilled on my new tablelcloth!!! :o)

A dear friend, Leann, brought me this sweet wall hanging a few weeks ago…

It really says it all. I am blessed by SO many friends…ones who share meals with me and ones who share “coffee” with me in the mornings! I am thankful for you all!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

  1. Happy Thanksgiving, Jeanne! I almost feel like I was there yesterday and it is a warm and cozy feeling! That’s a beautiful tablecloth and really gives the room and table a nice harvest glow. What a steal on that!
So nice to see that you had help in the kitchen too! I see a spaghetti squash there on the counter, which I would have never noticed if you hadn’t told us about it.
Oh, that cake! My mouth is watering! What is the topping made of?
Love the wall hanging from your dear friend. Yes, you ARE blessed, and so are we to have a friend like you!
Happy Thanksgiving to all of you too, near and far!

    1. Hi Linda,
We truly enjoyed ourselves last night and I think Alba and Edgar and Sara did too!
Kristoffer crumbled up part of the cake and used the crumbs to put on top…it really was good…
I hope you had a wonderful day with your friends and aren’t as stuffed as I am… my goodness carbs are good…a little too good!!!
      Thanks Linda,
      Happy Thanksgiving,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  2. Happy Thanksgiving II!
Thanksgiving I looked pretty impressive. Various people claimed leftovers. Pack up the leftover cookies and send them this way.
I’m glad you made two’s of things yesterday — today may be a little less work. I’m thrilled that the tablecloth came through the day’s adventures with no spots. It’s a lovely tablecloth and will be perfect again today. That was an amazing price. And now a cup of tea, and back to work for me too.

    1. Hi Marilyn,
Duplicating my dishes yesterday, for my meal today was pretty smart, but getting it all ready for 1:00 was more of a challenge than last night’s 6:00 dinner… but I did it…
My tablecloth even survived another day as well…I am amazed and now I can keep it on my table for my family to see it.
Deb and Cindy and Bob are going to be here…I can’t wait for us all to be together…
I hope you had your tea and got your work done…
      Thanks Marilyn,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  3. Happy Thanksgiving Jeanne. Rejoicing with you in the Goodness of God and for His unspeakable blessings. You are one amazing woman and I see Jesus in you. You prepared not just one meal, but three and you have blessed many people. We are joining another family this afternoon to celebrate Thanksgiving. I am preparing the Corn Casserole and your shared sweet potato recipe to take. You are great example to us all.
    God Bless You.

    1. Thank you for your kind words, Laureen!
I hope you enjoyed your special company today and I hope my corn casserole and sweet potato Souffle went over well! It was the last thing Jean called out as he was getting in his car…”Corn casserole…thank you so much!”
      Happy Thanksgiving, Laureen,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  5. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
You are a brave woman to do two Thanksgivings. It sure is a lot of yummy food though.
Your table is definitely beautiful — not merely because it has a lovely tablecloth (great buy!) but because it is set with love and friendship.
    Have a wonderful day!
    Take care —

    1. Awww, thank you Charlotte,
I think I’ve had enough Thanksgiving for one season… I guess it’s time to turn my attention to Christmas now…
…and my tablecloth survived again today…how could it have survived 4 little kids???? But it did!!! Best $4.99 ever spent!!!
      Happy Thanksgiving, Charlotte,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  6. Happy happy Thanksgiving,Happy Happy Thanksgiving (one for each day)
Your meal looked wonderful and the company and fun made it even better.
I’m ready…made a pumpkin, pecan,French silk, and lemon meringue. My friend who makes a zillion pies told me how to make meringue that won’t weep. I’m trying it so if it works I’ll share later.
That tablecloth is awesome! Enjoy your day..maybe a little less stressful since some of it is done?

    1. Hi Kathie,
I think we’ll all be interested in you weep-less meringue so share it if it truly does work!!!
Your pies sound wonderful and I bet they were!!!
We had a nice time today! It was less stressful!!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  7. Love the tablescape! Thanks for sharing.
    Definitely need Kathie’s meringue tip.
Everyone have a great Thanksgiving and save room for the pie.

    1. Hi Joy,
      Happy Thanksgiving to you!
I didn’t have a single slice of pie, but I had plenty of sweet potato souffle!
      Thank you, Joy,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  9. Thank you so much for inviting us into your world. It is a wonderful, cozy, and charming place to be! Gobble, gobble.

    1. I’m so glad you enjoyed yourself with my family and friends! It truly was wonderful to have flooring down….the kids were sliding around on my new vinyl floors…that wouldn’t have happened with the plywood we had…
      Happy Thanksgiving back to you,
      Gobble, gobble, Jeanne

  11. Charlotte Trayer

Your table did, indeed, look pretty! Great score on that tablecloth!! I’m glad it survived the company with no major spills! When I was kid, we joked about “put a quarer on it” (or whatever the appropriate-sized coin was) to cover a small spill. No one ever did it, that I recall, but it always got a chuckle or two.

We took our pastor and his wife out for a noon dinner today; they were alone for T-day, as were we, and we like to take them out for a meal now and then, both to thank them for all they do in our little church and because we truly enjoy being with them!

We’ll do something with our son and family the next weekend he has the younger boys (his oldest son lives 2000 miles away).
