~ Teddy Bear Tea Party ~ for Ten Ping is listed on Ebay…

I’m sorry I didn’t get your comments answered until late in the evening. I was going back and forth trying to get pictures of Ten Ping in her new dress and helping my hubby with a flooring project. I was trying to be the good wife and didn’t want to put my sewing ahead of helping him…so the comments were the last to be taken care of…

We’ve had this cold air return register right smack dab in the middle of our floor, between the kitchen and the dining room, ever since we bought our house. We’ve lost buttons and coins and screws and probably other things I’ve forgotten, down it. My hubby wanted to move it over to the edge of the wall instead of being out in the middle of the floor. He found a new register in a bronze like color at Lowe’s and asked if I could live with it… it was $5.00. I sure can!!! That hole in the corner hasn’t been like that for 13 years…it’s had another piece of wood on top of it, but it was always as ugly as all get out!

If you click on any picture, it will enlarge…

The floor is a disaster and the duct system had to be worked out underneath the floor, in the basement, before we could move the register… take about icky looking… but soon, it will be pretty, we hope! You can see the glue marks on the wall in the kitchen from when we peeled the aqua colored tiles off the kitchen walls. Another icky picture…

The people who had the house before us didn’t care one bit how things looked, just so long as it worked… well, I’d like things to look a little bit pretty, so we redid it! It’s not done yet, but it was a big start. A great big thank you to my hubby for his hard work today…

Down in the basement, my hubby had to extend the duct work from the the cold air return register in the middle of the floor (right end of the duct work), to the new “closer to the corner” spot upstairs… (left side of the pipe). It’s almost 11:00 p.m. so we are calling it a day!

We also made a trip over to my mom’s house to see what was wrong with her riding mower… a belt had slipped off and my hubby got it back on. Then he shoveled a big pile of mulch she had sitting in her grass and put it around all her trees… MAN, can that guy work… and he’s not even 100% still. I don’t think he has a lazy bone in his body… or his mind!

So while he was working, I was helping him but I was hoping against hope that I’d be able to get Ten Ping’s dress listed on Ebay. I had somehow managed to get my pictures taken, but they had to be sorted and cropped and then my listing done. It takes a while when you do it the way I do!

Miraculously, I did manage to get her dress set listed and made up a cute story to go with her dress. I hope you enjoy it… If you’d like to see the listing, you can click on the picture of Ten Ping at the top right side bar, or you can click HERE. It’s called “Teddy Bear Tea Party” so that should give you a few hints about what’s going to be happening in my story line.

Here are a few of my favorite pictures… I’ll try not to give away too much from the listing…

Ebay has changed the way things are listed in the different categories. It would be nice if you were searching for an American Girl doll, that you could just type in “Felicity” or “Addy” along with the words “American Girl,” and anything that had those words in it would show up. But if you make clothing for the dolls, Ebay now will only let you list under the “Clothes and Accessories” categories. If you list your outfits in the “American Girl” category, Ebay will pull your listing. So if you think you are seeing everything there is for (Felicity or any doll) when you type in her name, you aren’t. It’s the same with other doll categories too. BUT, I have discovered, IF you type in the word DRESS along with the dolls name, the sellers who sew for the dolls, will have their listings pop up… SO… if you forget what the name of Ten Ping’s dress set was called, type in Ten Ping Dress and my listing should come up… Hope that helps somewhat…

My sister, Deb, is coming to visit Thursday, so I don’t know what tomorrow’s post will be about…

But I’ll see you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

  1. I figured you were busy with “something”, Jeanne, when I didn’t see any comments from you until this morning! I see it was the flooring! The new register looks very nice, and fits the Victorian feel of the house splendidly. Did you find everything you have lost down the old register in the past?
This reminds me of my best friend’s house, a Victorian house built in 1894 that they remodeled, or rather HAD remodeled! It took a few years of living in a half done house to the finished project, but worked out well in the end. Yours will too! With a master craftsman like George, there is no doubt!! Isn’t it interesting to see how they built houses long ago? I love the stone walls in the basement!

Oh my gosh, Ten Ping looks SO cute in your listing where she is sitting down at the table and the teddy bears are around her having tea! I’d love to come and play too! And the ballerina pose—-too cute!

It is going to be wonderful weather the next few days, so I am working at church with the trimming and weeding, then come home and trim my ivy. With the last few rains, it has decided to grow again! Have fun with Deb!

  2. Yes, have a lovely time with your sister, Deb, Jeanne.

George is a blessing to you and countless others, you are a blessing to us and countless others, thank you both for contributing service and kindness to those who surround you.

Your narrative regarding Ten Ping and the bear tea party is so quaint. You always “make” my day, Jeanne, with your blog postings. Thanks for the nearly daily cheer.

    Blessings.

  3. Great jobs, George, all of them. It’s amazing what moving something a few feet will do. The register was a great find. You are certainly equal partners and work so well together.

Ten Ping is darling in the violet dress. I have a suggestion: Make your shoe pattern available for sale on your Etsy site. I’d buy one and I’m sure others would too. I’ve made a simple pair of sandals for Addy, but it took a while and they were much bigger than anything for Ten Ping. The tea party looks wonderful. Love the china storage chest.

I shared your pictures with friends and family too. I didn’t see any others that match them for the effect here on earth. Great photos. Thanks.

  4. Moving the register is a lot of work but I bet you both will be so happy with the results.
Ten Pin’s outfit and story are so sweet.
Hope you have a great visit with your sister!
    Have a good day.
    Take care.

  5. I love the new register cover. It does have a very Victorian look to it and goes perfectly with the era of your home. I like things to be pretty, too. I would always go with the most decorative item that still looks appropriate and at $5.00 it is perfect. Your George is certainly a one in a million. You are so blessed.
Ten Ping’s Tea Party is so sweet. I love all her little teddy bears gathered around her and her tiny tea set. The eBay listing is really creative. I love the picture of Violet trying on the shoes and the ballerina pose. You have so many cute props that you use. Sometime it would be fun to see them all. When I first started my own collection I just stuck with getting the PC/AG accessories i loved, now when I go to the antique store/thrift store I look at everything with a “can I use this with my dolls?” eye. I’m always amazed at what people find. The best ever was the board member who has a spinning wheel for Felicity. I would LOVE that.
Have fun with Deb. It’s wonderful that you and your sisters and brother get to see each other so often.

  6. Hurray for George! Was he able to retrieve any treasures from the duct before relocating? What a job that must have been. At least you have some head room in your basement. Love the vintage foundation too. Stacked stone? At least your cold air return is on the floor. Ours are both on the ceiling. Nothing like recirculating warm air eh? Our heater is in the attic.
Crazy Ebay. Wonder if they will ever figure it out?
Ten Ping’s sweet little outfit will certainly be a hit for the small set. Thinking of making anything for your Boneka? Lots appear to be buying them and for extreme prices too.
Nice to have your sis coming. Hope you have some fun time.
Really thick fog today. Oh well.

    1. And after looking at the kitchen again, perhaps it is time to do the cabinets now too so you can extend the flooring all the way through into the kitchen. I know, more expense, but if you plan to stay in the house, I would say, spring for it and enjoy it! (I say this as someone who has lived with 1949 cabinets for 41 years.) Should have gotten new ones on the last remodel. You use the kitchen probably more than any room in the house. I know there are very reasonable cabinets out there, and if you do the demo, that would decrease the cost. We just had a drywall person out today to get a bid to tear out an old paneled wall and replace with drywall. This is for my husband’s old home. Just the thought of making something better is exciting. Go for it if you can. 🙂

  7. The flooring project is moving ahead. It must really help George that you can help. The grate is super — it looks very nice and having it in a better place will make a positive difference. Now I’m waiting in suspense for the floor pictures when they are ready.

Ten Ping looks lovely. I’m sure you know that if you look up Ten Ping images on Google, you’ll find a lot of familiar Jeanne Marie photos. I was surprised at how many, and not all of Ten Ping.

I was supposed to be spending the morning at the dentist, but her office just called to say she has vertigo so we need to reschedule. It’s always nice to have extra time suddenly added to my day. Besides, my CYO should arrive today so I can use the time to enjoy unpacking her. The tracking record says the package is on the truck for delivery. Too bad there are other things on the truck for delivery too. I want them to come straight here.

Sometime in the next few months, she’ll need a special Jeanne Marie dress. Start planning. She has brown skin and medium hair — I think Norah can model for her. I’m sure a lot of blog readers would be happy to come first and deserve to since I grabbed the last AG dress.

  8. Does that mean you are finally getting your floors? I hope so because I know that’s something you have been waiting for a long time. Good idea to move the floor register–you’ll be much happier with it in the corner I think. I’ll be anxious to see what you and George decide to do with the kitchen wall corner. Have a nice visit with your sister. We are all on hurricane watch here!

  9. Hi everyone,
Well, Deb is here so I guess you know why I didnt get any comments answeted…I did “secretly” read them though. Thank you for your kind comments on Ten Ping’s new dress set. She really does like it, so I’m sure some other little Ten Ping will too.
My hubby put in a new sink for someone today so there was no working on the floor today…
I’ll be sure and let you know when it happens.
Well, I better get back to my visiting…
    Blessings, Jeanne
