Surprise on the Fourth and Surprise at the Fair…

Since today is the Fourth of July, I was going to go all patriotic and pull up all my favorite red, white and blue dresses from the archives, but you’ve probably already seen most of them so I decided to surprise you with something you’ll probably like better. I finished Isabelle’s dress, and while it isn’t necessarily patriotic, it IS Red, White and “aqua” Blue. It isn’t listed on Ebay yet, but I thought you might like to get a “head start” on looking at the pictures. We had our little photo session last night and it went pretty well. I have my story line all thought out and was wondering if you could tell from a couple of the pictures what might be going on. It’s sort of like those cartoon pictures in the back of the Handyman magazines… there are no words, only pictures telling a story, and you have to figure out what the cartoon is talking about.

I made a little muffin hat to go with the dress and used the aqua wool felt for her purse. It’s embellished with some flowers and has a real quarter inside to weigh it down a tiny bit. :o)

I made a pair of thigh highs out of a sheer white “tights” fabric.

So…let’s summarize… the winner will get the dress, the hat, the half slip, the thigh highs and the purse. Sorry, but my parakeet will have to stay at my house this time.

Now here’s something patriotic for you! Linda sent this picture to me of her girls… Molly, Susan and Ruthie, getting ready to go the parade! Aren’t they adorable? Thanks Linda!

Now, this wasn’t very good timing on my part, but I listed Felicity’s dress set to end tonight… yep, on the Fourth of July…the night when everyone goes out to see their town’s fireworks! I know… I should have looked at the calendar, but before I realized it ended on the 4th, I already had a bid… so I just hope someone, anyone, will stay at home and bid on it… :o)

Here’s a picture or 2 of that auction…

…and you can see the listing on Ebay HERE.

I will be helping with our church yard sale today so I’m not sure I’ll get this listed but you know it will be on Ebay soon!

I hope everyone has a safe and happy 4th of July today!
I got a text from our son Kristoffer last night… asking us if we were going to be home today with this picture following the text… Anyone want to guess what that might mean??? :o) :o) :o)

  1. It looks as if you aren’t the only pie baker in your family. Congratulations — I think you’ve just been awarded a pie.
Those are great tights to go with a great outfit. The quarter was a good idea too. There are no bad ideas in this entire auction unless perhaps Isabelle decides to let her parakeet go free for Independence Day.

Fireworks start here when it’s nearly dark, around 9:00 but people do need to be at the stadium earlier and parking is difficult, but maybe some people will have just enough time to bid and then run for the car waiting for them outside. Someone is going to be very lucky tomorrow night. It’s the perfect outfit for the 4th of July.

    1. HI Marilyn,
No, I’m not the only baker… Kristoffer is P-R-E-T-T-Y good! I haven’t seen the pie yet… he might have gotten into it last night and decided it was so good, he’d keep it for himself.

I think our fireworks celebration is going to be a wash… too much rain expected. The picnic we had planned for church has been postponed till Saturday…

I guess we’ll see if my listing ending on the 4th makes any difference…
      Thanks Marilyn,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  2. Oh, yum, apple pie! And to think it is only breakfast time around here right now! That son of yours is something else!

Isabelle’s outfit is just plain adorable, and the little hat and purse are just the thing to bring it all together! The tights—how do you do those teensy little things? Adorable!
    Don’t I say “adorable” a lot?

The story line, I am wondering if by chance Isabelle decided to take her little parakeet out for a little bit, but it likes staying in the cage? The door is wide open, but the birdie is still inside, probably awestruck at the darling outfit she is wearing and probably doesn’t realize the door is open!!

Thank you for showing my picture! I have that same setup this year, but that was last year’s picture. However, this year Molly is wearing braids, since I ran out of time and she probably is happy about that, with all the rain we are having!!

Happy 4th to you, Jeanne, and all the wonderful ladies who read your blog!

    1. HI Linda,
Yes, Kristoffer is going to impress some young lady someday… she’ll get more than she could hope for in him!
You think you say “adorable” a lot… I say “little” too much and have to tweak my posts all the time because I have too many “little this and little that” phrases.
The thigh highs are pretty simple, really…
You’ll have to wait and see the outcome of my story… but thanks for the compliments on Isabelle’s dress. It does look pretty sweet on her…
Your girls in their Red, White and Blue was just what my post needed! Thanks!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  3. Blessings to you and your family on the 4th, Jeanne. I would say it looks like an apple pie is in your future! What a kind gesture given by Kristoffer.

Isabelle’s outfit is minty refreshing, that’s for certain. It will be just right for upcoming hot days. You do put together such pretty ensembles. I will be looking forward to the “story” that goes with it. She looks like she’s timidly trying to get close to that pretty little caged bird.

I trust you will have an enjoyable day.

    Take care.

    1. HI Becky,
Well, I haven’t seen that pie yet, but the day’s not over with yet…so…. :o)

Thanks for your sweet comments on Isabelle’s newest dress set. It went together so quickly it amazed me…
I’m hoping to have a nice rest of my day..it’s rainy but that’s okay…
      Blessings, Jeanne

  4. Brings back memories of my childhood parakeet, Pretty Boy. He’s getting ready to fly off for some exercise. However, will always return to the cage. That is after landing right on top of Isabelle’s head. I taught Pretty Boy how to talk. He would always say, “I’m a pretty boy!” But, we never knew if he was a boy or a girl. That was a very long time ago back in the 50’s.
Isabelle looks lovely with her muffin cap. Perfect outfit to enjoy the summer weather.
That wonderful pie screams for ice cream on the celebration of our country’s birth.
Have a fun day, and hopefully, bring home something interesting from your church yard sale.

    1. HI Joy,
You’ll smile when you see my story line this time… Pretty Boy sounds sweet…and it sounds like you have some great memories of him. Hopefully you got him on camera or video?

Thank you for your sweet compliments on Isabelle’s dress. I do like the summery look of this one. Isabelle does too…
Yes, I second the ice cream for the pie… :o)
      Thanks Joy,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  5. I hope you have a happy 4th of July Jeanne! That dress is adorable, and I hope you enjoy your pie, and whatever else Kristoffer has in store for you. 🙂

    1. Thank you Christine,
I have had an easy day so far… doing practically nothing, but I’m getting ready to start sorting for the yard sale… I hope I find some treasures… :o)
I’m hoping that pie is here when I return home! :o)
      Thanks so much,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  6. Happy 4th of July Independence Day to you, Jeanne!!
Isabelle looks lovely in her dress. I think she want to buy that sweet little parakeet and hopes that she has enough money to do so. I had two parakeets as a child- one blue and one green The LD’s seem very easy for you to sew for, you crank out their outfits in nothing flat, but they each have there own special touch to them.
Linda’s girls look very festive in their outfits and I like all the sparkly firework additions
Felicity’s dress is so very lovely and I’m sure someone can bid on it even while watching the fireworks or listening to the fourth of July concert. 🙂
The apple pie looks delicious.. Enjoy!

    1. HI Laura,
Happy Independence Day to you too!
I do have my pattern pretty well perfected for the Little Darlings so it does come easier and faster when I make them something. Not quite so much trial and error as with some of the other things I make.
It would be nice to have some “fireworks” at the end of this auction… if you know what I mean!
      Thanks Laura…
I’ll let you know if that apple pie ever gets here…
      Blessings, Jeanne
