Start thinking about the Turn of the Century!

~ Patsy Tonner’s Easter dress set, the periwinkle colored one, with all the colors in it, is ending this evening. I haven’t told Patsy yet and I haven’t dared to suggest she step out of the dress…but I’ll have to really soon…If you want to see it on Ebay, you can click on the picture at the right side bar, or you can click HERE.

Here’s just one quick picture to refresh your memory…

~ I also listed Willa’s Easter dress on Saturday evening. I did a short post on it on Sunday but you might have missed it because I stopped writing my posts on Sunday… except to remind you when I had an auction ending. Her dress turned out really sweet looking and is totally “all little girl!” If you wanted to see that one, you can click on that picture at the right side bar, or you can click HERE.

Since some of you are seeing Willa’s dress for the first time… here are 2 pictures of her dress…you’ll have to go to my listing to see what the second picture is all about…

~ So I was debating about which doll to make the next Easter dress for… and Laura gave me some ideas… I don’t have them all worked out yet, and I hope I can, but Rebecca is going to be wearing a Victorian/Edwardian dress this time. Finally, one in her actual era and it will be Eastery… I have the fabric picked out and some ideas mulling around in my head, but nothing is set in stone yet…let’s see what I can go accomplish this evening…

Here’s what I managed to do since I wrote the previous paragraph…

I hope you like the color. It’s one of my favorites and I’m using some of the lace on the front that one of my readers sent me a while back. Isn’t it gorgeous? The sleeves have some vintage lace that I already had…They will definitely need some sleeve headers to hold them up like all the big puffy sleeves in the early 1900’s. I probably have the hardest part done, so hopefully it will be smooth sailing for the rest of it…

Who knows… I might be able to squeeze in another Easter dress if this one cooperates… :o)

See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

  1. I wasn’t surprised to see Rebecca but I was surprised to see that color. The material has some sort of sheen that’s very pretty. What is it? And then the lace. That is stunning and perfect — a lovely and generous gift. This dress may not require one of your beautiful slips and one of those big period bows might be enough for her hair — there’s no need to distract from that beautiful fabric and the perfect lace. I am wondering about one of Rebecca’s lovely necklaces. Or a shoulder bag? With those sleeves, it wouldn’t slide off.
It’s barely Monday and already I’m looking forward to tomorrow’s post.

    1. Hi Marilyn,
Isn’t that color gorgeous? I just love it! It looks very nice on Rebecca’s olive skin tone. It’s actually just a plain run of the mill cotton, but it sure looks dressy… but no sheen…
I thought maybe the lace might be too much, but I looked at some 1900’s pictures last night and it looks just about like the ones I saw…
I was thinking about a necklace too. I know Samantha wore a gold locket…
I had to work at my mom’s today but I’m hoping there is still some time left for me to sew on Rebecca’s dress.
      Thanks Marilyn,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  2. Rebecca’s latest dress is lovely. The bodice is exquisite. From the color to the lace to the design, it is simply exquisite. Like Marilyn, I am looking forward to seeing how the dress develops.
Hope you have a good day.
    Take care.

    1. HI Charlotte,
Thank you for your sweet compliments on Rebecca’s dress. I’m looking forward to seeing how it turns out too! :o)
      Blessings, Jeanne

  3. Well, doggone it, I can’t see anything yet! I can get the blog and Willa’s dress, but not Rebecca’s, so I don’t know what you all are talking about! However, I am really anxious to see what it is and can’t wait for that!!
Jeanne, just wondering if Sara’s family live anywhere near where they had that terrible disaster in Columbia. What part of Columbia is she from? I hope and pray not the part that was devastated.

    1. HI Linda,
Just wanted to let you know… Sara’s family is from Bogota, in the central area. Mocoa is where the landslide hit and it’s way south. Their family is all in the Bogota region so all are safe.
      Thanks for your concern, Linda…
      Blessings, Jeanne

  4. Well, what do you know? The picture of Rebecca just popped up! Oh, yes, such pretty sleeves and lace trim! What a beautiful color on her too, just in time for spring!!

  5. This tealish color is outstanding on Rebecca. Love it and the lace. This one will be just beautiful and so perfect for spring.
I was wondering if Sara’s home was near the Columbia flooding too? Certainly hope not.

    1. HI Joy,
This teal color is very pretty on Rebecca and I’m so glad I picked her as my model… It should be a perfectly lovely Spring dress! Let’s hope so!
No, Sara’s home is in Bogata… in the middle of Columbia… Mocoa is on the southern border…
      Thank you Joy,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  6. Good Monday morning, Jeanne! The beginnings of Rebecca’s dress are just lovely, and the lace is exquisite! Thank you to your kind and generous reader for the gift. Can’t wait to see how you finish it.

I usually click on the title of your post to read it in my browser, but like Linda, I had pictures of Patsy’s and Willa’s dresses, but no picture of Rebecca’s dress. I first went back to your post in my email, and then could see the pictures of Rebecca’s dress just fine. Upon returning to my browser to finish reading the comments, I still had no picture of Rebecca, but found that once I clicked “refresh,” the picture was appeared. Don’t know what the problem was, but all is well now. I will ask my son about it.

A few days ago, you mentioned that you took just a few pictures from with your phone and upon cropping them, the color changed. My son the professional photographer says that most phones these days have built in editing software, and that when you crop a photo, the camera will automatically adjust color, lighting, etc. to try to give you what the camera “thinks” is the best or perfect exposure (which sometimes actually isn’t the case). If you have an Apple phone, you can shoot your pix in “raw” and then use the “ProCam” app to adjust the crop yourself, thereby maintaining the color and lighting consistency yourself. This might work on some other phones as well. Maybe that helps??

Wishing you a wonderful week, Jeanne!

    1. HI Anne,
I’m wondering if the trouble you and Linda had with the picture of Rebecca not showing up had anything to do with me not getting it inserted when I published the post. I went to be a little after 1:00 and right before 2:00 I heard my phone make a slight ding. I picked it up and checked and the picture had uploaded. I got up and added it to the post. I can’t imagine that had anything to do with not seeing the picture, but maybe it did…who knows?

I’ll have to talk with Kristoffer and see if he can help me adjust the picture to the raw setting… I doubt that I could figure it out…
      Thanks Anne,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  7. So glad you liked my idea. Wow, turquoise is a dress color I don’t think I’ve ever seen you use. That polished cotton (?) is beautiful and Rebecca looks lovely. The lace down the front is exquisite. What a wonderful gift that lace was and you’re putting it to good use. I’m looking forward to seeing this one come together as I don’t believe you’ve made a turn of the century dress in a long while.

    1. HI Laura,
I think it was Marilyn who thought the fabric was a polished cotton too.. It’s just a plain every day cotton, but it sure is pretty. I have to agree. I love the lace too… It was on the bottom of one of the bundles sent to me…and when I saw it… I said, “Yep, that’s the one!”
I’m looking forward to seeing this one finished too!
      Thanks Laura,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  8. What a beautiful combination, the lace with the turquoise fabric. I wouldn’t have thought to use the lace vertically. The sleeves are really puffy and stand up nicely already.

I went on a hike with my son’s family on Saturday just East of Santa Barbara in the San Marcos Pass to see the Lizard’s Mouth rock formation. It was very rocky and a wonderful outing to see all of the city and the Pacific Ocean and islands offshore. We had beautiful weather over the weekend and now it’s overcast in the mornings again. Lucky!

    1. Hi Susette,
I was so happy when I discovered this lace on the bottom of a bundle I had received. It really is very nice and Rebecca is thrilled with it.
You should see the sleeves now…they almost look like the Commercial of Jiffy pop popcorn… :o)
Your outdoor pictures were just beautiful! It looked lovely there.
      Blessings, Jeanne
