Something Simple for Saturday

I only had a limited amount of time to work on Addy’s dress, but finished a couple of areas on the dress. Getting the facing finished on the backside was a major area of construction that isn’t exciting, but still has to be done…

If you click on any picture, it will enlarge.

I also gathered up the top tier of her skirt. I think I’m just going to do 3 areas. I tied some bows just to get a feel for what it might look like and pinned them onto the skirt. It will make a huge difference when I have a boned crinoline to wear under the dress. It will hold everything out much better.

Here is the start to the crinoline…

I’ll see what else I can get finished before we meet again…

See you on Monday,
Blessings, Jeanne

  1. Jeanne, this dress is getting prettier by the day! I love the way the bows give the dress such a dainty look! Now when you did that that to the skirt, yes, the extra row of lace around the neckline would probably be too much. A pretty pearl and pink necklace, perhaps? What occasion might Addy be wearing this exquisite creation for? Maybe a wedding in the family?
I’m wishing you a very Happy Mother’s Day tomorrow! It looks like it will be a bright, sunny day, thankfully! And all you wonderful ladies who read Jeanne’s blog, whether you are mothers or not, I’m wishing you a special day too!

    1. Hi Linda,
I was thinking of a pearl necklace too…
I’m glad it’s coming along okay…slow but no problems so far.
I have an idea for my storyline but you’ll have to wait and see…
A very Happy Mother’s Day to you too, Linda!
We are having a little lunch at our house tomorrow…
      Blessings, Jeanne

  2. Oh Jeanne, Addy’s dress is just beautiful. The tiered skirt is so pretty and the pink bows are just the right accent. Her laced collar is especially gorgous. I love all the different types of laces you’ve used. The outfit is very elegant.

I wish you a lovely Mothet’s Day tomorrow and that all your followers have a wonderful and happy day too.

    1. Thank you Paula,
I’m liking the way it’s turning out too….elegant!
It’s fun to use the various vintage laces I have for her dress.
…and I wish YOU a very Happy Mother’s Day as well!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  3. I mean the lace you chose. I was thinking of the picture of the laces you showed the other day, which I also liked, however, the single edge of lace is just as elegant- Linda had a good idea- a pink pearl necklace would be lovely too.

    1. I’m thinking that pearl necklace is just what the dress needs!
      Thanks Paula,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  4. Addy’s dress just keeps getting prettier. I love the three bows. Just the right number, if you ask me.
I hope you have a wonderful Mother’s Day tomorrow.
    Take care.

    1. Thank you Charlotte,
Then 3 bows it is! Thanks for your compliments and a VERY Happy Mother’s Day to you too!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  5. I really like what’s happening with the skirt. Great idea. I still like the dress without the extra lace at the neck, but know the finished ensemble will ring true to Jeanne Marie style and be perfect. I know, maybe Addy just needs a ribbon around her neck and a pin, not a full necklace.
Wishing you a happy day tomorrow and all of your readers too.

    1. Hi Joy,
I was hoping to ask Rebecca about making a necklace for Addy’s dress, but today was the first day she’s had off since she got her Blazer, so I dare not ask her about it today!
      Wishing you a Happy Mother’s Day too…
      Blessings, Jeanne

  6. Addy looks so beautiful in her newest dress. Your work is admirable.

    Blessings on you this weekend.

    1. Thank you Becky,
We’re keeping it simple here for Mother’s Day. Me and my hubby, Kristoffer and maybe his girlfriend, Rebecca and my mom!
I’ve been in “Crisis Cleaning 101” today, but just about have it licked!
I hope you have a nice day tomorrow too!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  7. Happy Mothers Day to Jeanne and friends.
It’s actually a great weekend for it and several graduations.
Addy’s dress is shaping up to be a classic beauty.
Enjoy your day tomorrow..I’m sure your family will make it fun!

    1. Hi Kathie,
It is supposed to be very nice here too, tomorrow and I’m SO glad. Of all the holidays…Mothers Day needs to be sunny!
I’m planning on having a nice day and hope yours is too!
      Thankyou Kathie,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  8. Happy Mother’s Day to you Jeanne and everyone else here.
Oh, Addy’s dress IS getting prettier by the day. I love the little bow touches on the skirt. Addy looks very elegant in this ensemble. I agree, all the various laces are so pretty.

    1. Thank you Laura,
Addy’s dress might be coming along slower than I’d like, but at least there have been no problems! I’m glad you like it!
Happy Mother’s Day to you too, Laura,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  9. Even limited time to sew produces wonderful results, Jeanne. Addy’s “Southern Charm” dress is lovelier with each update. Three gathers in the top layer of her skirt is perfect. (Does anyone remember “3 is a Magic Number” from the Schoolhouse Rock Series?). Can’t wait to see it with the crinoline underneath. Blessings to you for a Happy Mother’s Day, Jeanne, and warmest wishes to all your readers, too!

    1. Hi Anne and thank you for your compliments on Addy’s dress. I can’t wait ubtil I do the post, “Addy’s Dress Revealed!” Maybe it won’t be much longer….
I don’t think I know about the Schoolhouse Rock series…we’ll see if anyone else does!
A very Happy Mother’s Day to you Anne!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  10. I still like the extra lace at the neck, especially with the simple but elegant pearls. The bows are really pretty. Happy Mother’s Day to everyone.

    1. HI Susette,
I’m going to see what kind of necklace Rebecca makes me before I stitch it all around the neck! Thanks Susette,
      Blessings, Jeanne
