Something fun I hope you will like…

So I thought I’d be witty and write a Part Two
To the poem from yesterday that I sent to you
A slip and some stockings for my girls, they are done
The capes; they aren’t finished, but don’t they look fun?

I still have to find something fun for each dress
A book or a flower or a bear to caress
I hope I can finish them; there must be a way
I’m closer today than I was yesterday!

I have an excuse for why my doll dresses didn’t get finished… Poplar Trees! Yep, my hubby decided he felt okay and wanted to plant 2 Tulip Poplar trees in the back yard…AND a rose bush too! So see, that’s why you didn’t see my listing on Ebay. I tried, but it just didn’t happen. However I DID get some new things done on the dresses..I was going to tease you with a few “sneak peek” shots, but decided to be nice instead.

Both girls got a new blue slip…

…and both girls got a new pair of thigh high stockings…

…and both girls got a start on a fun Easter Capelet… they aren’t finished, but the main part is constructed. I can’t believe I had the right color of blue wool felt for the capes. I just have to figure out how I want to “decorate” and fasten them in front. Here is Janie in hers…

See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

  1. Very special outfits, perfect ‘lingerie’ for the prettiest little girls.
Everything to the right scale and colour perfection.
Can’t wait for the end result.
Little blue sisters ready for the Easter Parade.

    1. Thank you Jane,
I’m so glad you like the girls sets…they have taken a little bit of extra time but I have to keep telling myself…there are TWO dresses this time.
      Thanks again,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  2. Oh my goodness, those capes are just darling, Jeanne! Janie looks so cute in hers, and they are the perfect touch for the dresses! I can’t imagine what decorations you would put on the capes, since they look very nice undecorated!! Pearl buttons? Won’t that be fun for an Easter Parade?

Those pale blue slips are just so sweet and the tights perfectly complete the outfit!

So you and George were outside too yesterday? Wasn’t it a beautiful day? I think we got Marilyn’s nice weather as it came through!

    1. Thanks Linda,
I liked your idea of the pearl buttons and brought some with me today. I may do a li\let stitching on the back just for fun.
Yes, we worked outside. As soon as we got finished and went inside, it started pouring and rained for several hours. I was going to take a picture of our handiwork but it was too gloomy looking.
      Thanks Linda,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  3. This nice weather can not hold, but I’m about to start yard work a month early. We usually get a good snow after the leaves come out so that every tree ends up with a broken branch or two.

I think these slips are some of the prettiest. I love the tiered one and think that idea is going to give you the perfect shape for a Civil War era petticoat. That nice rounded line is so appropriate.

I was wondering if you’d make jackets. I think the capes are a splendid alternative and I love that they are exactly the right color to go with the flowers. I especially like the pearls on the flowers and agree that something pearl on the capes might be nice. I’m looking forward to seeing how you trim that tiny cape.

Is today a chemo day? It sounds like yesterday was a very good day. And how is your mom?

    1. Hi Marilyn,
Maybe this will be the year that Spring comes early to Colorado AND stays! Hope so.
I like Janie slip with the 2 tiers too. I wanted it a little more full.
I was going to decorate my capes and brought them with me to the Cancer place. The dr just told us George’s white blood counts are too low again so he won’t be getting chemo today. But he is getting the nausea treatment. He said it would last for 5 days so that will be helpful.
      Thanks Marilyn,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  4. I agree with Marilyn about the slips being some of the prettiest yet. And the caplets are so cute. The color is just perfect.
I think that is wonderful that you and George were busy planting trees and a rose bush. Trees are special things, aren’t they? They are promises of the future.
Hope you have a good day!
    Take care.

    1. Hi Charlotte,
Someone gave us the rose bush on Sunday. They said they wanted to give us one back in December so we’d have something to look forward to in the spring, but they couldn’t find one till now.
Thanks so much for the compliments on the girls dresses…
      Blessings, Jeanne

  5. I don’t always comment but I’m always, always amazed!! These little blue dresses are Easter heaven! Absolutely perfect in every detail (and there are a LOT of those)! Think of y’all so often, pray for you and George continually, always hope that Rueben is well and happy. Thank you for all you do…for all the beautiful things you create, the lives you touch with the work of your hands and your blog…for the things you’ve done for me personally. Sending all the love this little message can contain.

    Blessings!!!

    1. Hi Bobi,
It is good to hear from you! I hope you and your hubby have been well. I hope his birthday was special too.
Thank you for the compliments on my girls dresses. I think they really look like sisters now…
      Thanks for your prayers too.
      Blessings, Jeanne

  6. Lots of early birds this morning!
Love the capelets. I was wondering how the girls would stay warm if the weather didn’t cooperate on Easter. Really a very clever idea. Is the stitching around the cape by machine? It is beautiful.
    And your poem astounds.
Would taking it easier the day before treatment help the blood count? Planting is pretty heavy work. However, being outside in beautiful weather is uplifting. How thoughtful of the rain to water your new trees/bush.
We have rain scheduled off and on for the rest of the week. Poor daffodils.

    1. HI Joy,
Yes, we do have some early birds today… me too!
I’m glad you’re liking the capelets… I thought they’d be fun and something different.

I’m not sure about taking it easier on the day before chemo, but there was no stopping him yesterday…it was pretty and he felt okay so we went ahead with the planting plans. His doctor said today, he thinks the chemo should always be half a dose every other week…it’s just too hard on your body…
We got rain yesterday but the sun is “trying” to shine today… hope you have sun…
      Blessings, Jeanne

  7. I’m late to the “modeling session” today, but just had to comment on this adorable matching set! What sweet sister outfits these lovely blue dresses make, and the darling little capelets are the perfect wrap for a chilly Easter sunrise service or egg hunting in the garden. I know you will put your special touch on them, Jeanne, but I do like the idea of a pearl button closure. And Oh. My. Goodness! Those pale blue slips with the flower and heart trim! I have no words! From the inside, out, your girls exude Easter charm. Can’t wait for the final reveal!

    1. HI Anne,
I’m so glad you like how the dresses are coming along. I am very pleased with them and so are my girls. They truly do look like sisters now that they are all finished.
This seems like it took forever but I guess it was because there were 2 of them to make all the pieces for.
      Thank you Anne,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  8. I like the double-tiered slip, especially with the little trim around the top of the tiers. The outfits are pretty and both girls look very sweet in them. I see that everyone likes the idea of pearls for the cape, but I was thinking of ribbon ties to make a dainty bow to keep it closed. I’m sure they will be pretty no matter what you decide to do!
Hubby and I are planting some shrubs to replace the ones that didn’t survive the winter. Spring always puts me in the mood to plant things.

    1. HI Carolyn,
Thanks for your compliments on the girls slips. They were fun to make and decorate.
I debated about making a fun little tie at the neck, but it’s so small, I opted for a different way to close the front. I like the pattern I drafted, but I do need to figure out the inside closure part before I make the next one.

Our trees and rose bush certainly loved the rain they received right after being planted.
      Thank you Carolyn,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  9. What fancy slips the girls are getting this time, extra trim and all. I wanted to know how big are Noel’s feet.? Those little white maryjanes look so very, very tiny. The capes are just precious. I don’t know what kind of embellishment they would need either, but I’m sure you’ll add an extra little touch.
Planting a rose bush sounds like fun. We have a zephirine drouhin rose out back. I love it because it smells wonderful, bloom prolifically and is thorn-less.

    1. HI Laura,
The girls slips were a little extra fancy this time… after all, it’s for Easter dresses!
Noel’s shoes are the ones I had for my Bitty Bethany. I’m so glad I didn’t sell them. I think I have 5 or 6 colors of them!
Your thornless rose bush sounds like one my hubby would like better than the one with thorns. He hates getting stuck…
      Thanks Laura,
      Blessings, Jeanne
