Some Easter dresses for your dolls to enjoy looking at….

Okay, fess up… who has dolls that get on the computer and drool over the pretty outfits they see? Are mine the only ones? I think mine are “clothes starved” as they stand or sometimes sit naked and wait for their turn to model. Sometimes I think the computer screen is tipped just a bit in a downward direction and I think I’ve even seen some tiny hand prints on my monitor…

If you have dolls that do the same, I thought I would give them something to look at today. I went through my archived pictures and pulled out all the pictures that I had either tagged “Easter” or it was obvious they were Easter dresses. I have quite a few so I will probably spread them out over a few days. But just to let you know… I am working on something. Here’s what I have in my “Yes” stack…. can you guess who it will be for?

…and here are some of those past Easter dresses. I hope you enjoy them. As always, if you click on them, they will enlarge somewhat.

Katie Effanbee used to be fairly popular to sew for, but she has pretty much gone by the wayside now. These first two dresses are shown on the Katie Effanbee dolls that I once owned.

I didn’t intend to just pick purple for today’s dresses, but somehow they came out that way. Isabelle looks darling in her dark purple dress and then Lian is wearing one of my all time favorite dresses. Her dress has tiny pearls sewn across the twin needle stitching on the bodice.

Here is Katie Effanbee in another Easter dress… the fabric was called Hannah Bella… I just loved that name…

One of my favorites among my bidders was this next set worn by Lian. It has lots of hand work done with silk ribbon and is Totally Easter!!

I hope you and your “girls” enjoyed the Easter dresses…

See you tomorrow,

  1. Let’s see, Jeanne, are those fabric pieces for Kirsten? The ribbon is very similar to the ribbon she has in her AG outfit , can’t quite remember the exact name. It all looks so much like prairie type material, and so pretty!

Love the purple dresses! I especially love purple(lavender) paired with a spring green, and have that color scheme in my house for Easter decorations. Do you decorate the house too?

    1. Hi Linda,
You’re right… the fabrics got paired up for a new dress for Kirsten. I think it’s going to be really pretty.
Thanks for liking the purple dresses! I don’t really decorate the house for Easter, but I do try to make it nice. I used to buy an Easter Centerpiece, but now I just use something that I can put together and make work. I have enough “stuff” that I can use what I have.
      Thanks Linda,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  2. Love the purple dresses. Maybe because it’s my favorite color. 🙂 My dolls sneak peeks at things too. Although they like going through my pattern collection and fabric and telling me what they want me to sew next. 🙂

    1. Hi Christine,
So my dolls AREN’T the only ones who are taking peeks at things? My dolls are on an open shelf so they just hop down onto my cutting table when they see me getting fabrics out for ideas! Thanks Christine!

  3. Seeing your yummy little pile of red, white, and blue pieces makes me want to start sewing for the Fourth of July already. I haven’t made anything in this colorway, but I have a couple of prints that I fell in love with and are red, white, and blue-ish. Gotta start soon…

I remember Lian’s wonderful ensemble from last year. I fell in love with it too! I bet Lian did NOT want to take that one off. Your ribbon embroidery is so pretty on her little felt bolero and hat. I’ll bet you spent a lot of time embroidering; every color change requires careful securing on the reverse side. I find changing colors to be as time consuming as making the actual stitches sometimes. And, that little Easter basket is just the cutest little thing!
Thanks for sharing your Easter eye candy with us, Jeanne.

    1. Hi Cindy,
I hadn’t really planned for it to come out so patriotic looking, but as I was pulling fabrics to go with the blue, it just seemed to come together with the red and and white… I guess we’ll see. If it does turn out too patriotic… I guess someone will have an early start on their Fourth of July outfits.
I loved Lian’s Easter set from last year too. It was a fun one to make with all those beautiful colors together. I just kept adding stitches and pearls and eggs and didn’t know when to stop. When I finally did, I thought it was perfect…not to much, but just right! I think the bidder thought so TOO! She loved it.
      Blessings to you Cindy,
      ~ Jeanne

    1. Hi Jevne,
I hadn’t planned to use it the way I am, but I think it will be very pretty! Just wait…
      Blessings, Jeanne

  4. I love both of the dresses Lian is modeling, she is such a beautiful girl. I love the fabrics you have put together for Kirsten!

    1. Thank you Regina,
Yes, Lian is quite a little beauty, isn’t she? I hope you’ll like Kirsten’s dress when it’s all done.
      Blessings, Jeanne

  5. I remember seeing the ensemble on Lian last year too…and it is my all time favorite!!
The colors, the print, the embroidery…you may see your influences in my Easter Swap
    🙂
    Have a great week!

    1. HI Kathie,
Thanks so much for you kind compliments on Lian’s Easter set from last year. She wore it very well, didn’t she? Make sure you let me know about your Easter Swap set… I want to see it…
      Blessings, Jeanne

  6. I love silk ribbon embroidery. Lian’s Easter outfit is lovely! Silk ribbon embroidery doesn’t seem to be used as much anymore. Just as with dolls, the once popular fades to bring something new. It must be a challenge to keep creating as you do successfully.

    1. Thanks Jan,
I love silk ribbon embroidery very much and love to embellish with it as often as I can. There is something very special when it’s added to a dress.
I used to think I would surely run out of ideas for dresses, but so far I haven’t, and I hope I never do!
      Blessings, Jeannne

  7. They’re all pretty but the silk ribbon embroidered one has to be my favorite. It’s really special. I went to a quilt show Friday and one of the vendors had silk ribbon for $1. I didn’t buy any as I have hardly used the last bunch I bought, but I thought it was a good price.

    1. Thank you Carolyn, everyone seems to like it. Guess you aren’t alone. That was a good deal on the silk ribbon. I had a friend go to Japan and she picked me up some as a gift. I was thrilled! Thanks so much, Blessings, Jeanne
