Snow and Soup…and pitifully embarrassed…

This is what we woke up to this morning….

…between 5 and 6 inches of snow. It’s very pretty when it’s new, so white and glittery looking. Not so much after the snow plow has gone up and down the road a few times, flinging the slushy stuff into your yard. I live out of town, not necessarily in the “country” but almost. It makes things a bit trickier to get out of our driveway. My hubby managed to go to the church to do some work, but Rebecca and I stayed home and “created.” Created what? She made homemade Chicken soup and I made homemade chili. What else were we supposed to do; school was closed, we weren’t going anywhere, so we cooked.

I’m taking advantage of the “lockdown” and cleaning up in my sewing room.

It had gotten a bit messy from all the party stuff I was working on in there. I’m hoping to get things in order and maybe get something new cut out! YES… something cut out…a doll dress!! No promises, but that’s the plan!

As I was cleaning in my sewing room this evening, I ran across a package I had gotten from one of my subscribers, Jeannie in TX. I was planning on showing it WHEN I got something made from the fabrics… I had already opened up the package several days ago and this is what I thought I saw…

CIMG7092

…when actually, THIS is what was in the package…

CIMG7079

See that little extra something on the far right white and pink cotton knit fabric? Look what it was…a pair of doll tights that Jeannie had made my Little Darlings.

CIMG7083

They blended in so well, I just thought it was folds in the cotton knit fabric… I am SO red faced, Jeannie! I thanked you but I didn’t thank you for the tights. Lian threw off her dress and said she’d model them for me, so here she is, and here they are! They are wonderfully sweet and now
at least ONE of my dolls will have warm legs standing up on the dolly shelf! Thank you again Jeannie!

Jeannie has started selling them in her Etsy shop if you’d like to check them out…(HERE)

See you tomorrow,

  1. What a darling pair of doll tights!! I clicked onto her shop, but did not find a single thing there! Did I do something wrong? But Lian looks so warm and comfy—on the bottom!!

Yes, we had snow too, not quite the amount you had, but it was so pretty! I stayed in too, just did my regular Monday morning cleaning, and thought about trying to make something for Felicity. She is in a rut as far as clothing goes! I almost bought a Carpatina pattern for her, but have no idea how good they are. have you tried any of their patterns?

Oh, the chili looks so good! I had homemade chicken noodle soup yesterday, and will be making chili today! We must think alike!

    1. Hi Linda,
Well, it appears that half the country had soup or chili yesterday. You can’t believe all the ladies who let me know they had made a pot of soup or chili too! I guess snow brings out those crock pots!
No, Linda, I have never bought one of those Carpatina patterns, so I can’t tell you how they fit. They look pretty on the pattern front, but they look like a smaller doll to me, so I wonder about the fit. Maybe I should ask my readers if anyone has ever tried their patterns.
I checked out Jeannie’s Etsy shop last night and she had one pair of pink tights showing.
When I opened up the pink tights listing, there were other colors showing… This morning I checked again and she had sold the pink pair, but she had 4 more pairs listed. I know she was having trouble getting them to be in separate listings, so someone must have told her how to do it. Anyway, they are just darling! Lian is thrilled to be half way dressed!

  2. What a nice gesture! Those tights are just darling. I am so anxiously waiting my first Little Darling to come in. I ordered one in July from Geri. Can’t wait. 🙂

    1. Oh Christine…T-H-E W-A-I-T…. is hard but OH so worth it! You are going to be in love when she arrives!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  3. Those tights are adorable in that sweet rosebud knit. How thoughtful Jeannie is to send you a little gift in the mail!
I hope you can find some time to sew today. I spent yesterday by putting the finishing touches on a couple of new ensembles.
Congrats on 6+ months of daily blogging!!! I know how hard it is to come up with new things to talk about. Don’t know how you manage to do it daily, so heartfelt CONGRATULATIONS are definitely in order. You have inspired me to try harder though. I promise to try.
    Have a super day, Jeanne!!!

    1. HI Cindy,
Yes, aren’t those tights just the sweetest things? Lian is thrilled!
I got my sewing room back in order yesterday so I’m hoping to get something going! First up is my nieces little flower girl dresses…I’m doing a mock up bodice first to send to her and see how the fit is. Then when that is perfect, I’ll cut into her wedding fabric.

YOU inspire me with your creative designs. It’s funny, now that I’ve seen your cute little sewing room, sometimes when I’m in mine, I wonder what you are doing in yours…
      I haven’t forgotten about our “interview”… it’s coming…
      Blessings, Jeanne

Well, Heavens ! I didn’t know you had not seen the tights. I should have tied a separate ribbons around them so they would not have blended into the rosebud knit yardage. I am happy you like them and that they fit Lian perfectly. I love that little print too!!
I am not sure why my Etsy shop is not showing up well. I do know I am having trouble with posting items and can’t seem to find an answer for the reason. I think I need some advice on how to post each item separately. Tomi J has looked at the problem and given me some advice but that is not the answer. As it is I have many pairs of tights ready to add but I am at a bottleneck of confusion with Etsy. Thank you for mentioning my shop.
Your yard is lovely with the white snow and gazebo setting out so still. A country setting would be like a dream to me. I’ve seen pics of your yard in the summer and it looks so relaxing and enjoyable.
We also had soup last night as it is cold, wet and windy in north Texas. Left over turkey vegetable and very good reheated for the second time.
    {ps: if anyone would like to advise me on my Etsy site I would be most grateful.}

    1. Hi Jeannie,
I checked your Etsy shop this morning and I saw 4 pairs of tights listed, so you must have gotten it figured out. Once you get the hang of it, it’s very easy to list and re-list on Etsy… much easier than Ebay. I saw that you made a sale on the little pink pair that was on there last night… YAY!
I think there were lots of soup bowls used yesterday. MANY ladies emailed me they were having chili/chicken soup too! I guess soup is the new “comfort” food for snowy weather.
      Thank you again Jeannie,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  5. Can’t wait to see the outfit you make with Jeannie’s fabric. Her tights are just the cutest things ever…love printed tights…they remind me of all the cute outfits from Gymboree my granddaughters wore. Hope they show up individually on Etsy soon! 🙂
Now you all have me in the mood for soup…only I think a Mexican theme…where poart of the flour tortillas are cut into strips in the soup like noodles and part are sprayed with olive oil and baked in the oven and sprinkled on top…yummo!

    1. Hi Kathie,
I think this cold weather has put EVERYBODY in a soup mood! Your Mexican themed soup sounds wonderful…
I just emailed Jeannie and she’s busy trying to get more tights listed in her Etsy shop!
I need to get busy with some sewing!
      Thanks Kathie,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  6. The rose print tights are adorable. It’s nice to find a source for tights! Thank you for sharing.
Jeanne, not only are you a fabulous seamstress but you look to be a fabulous cook!

    Have a great day!

    1. Hi Paula,
The little tights are very adorable! I’m so glad I noticed them!
Well, I’d like to think I can hold my own in the kitchen… my daughter is pretty fabulous herself!
I’m staying inside working on some things that need tending to and then it’s sewing time!!!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  7. Cute tights! I think the snow looks lovely, but we never have any in South Texas. Just as well since I don’t like the cold weather. I do like chili though, and yours looks yummy. Maybe I need to go ahead and make a pot while it’s still cool outside. I think this will be our last cold snap of the year.

    1. Carolyn,
That is so funny… EVERYONE is making chili and soup… I almost did my post on soups tonight, but maybe I’ll wait till another time…but it sure would be timely!
Thanks so much! Oh I’m ready for Spring!
      Blessings, Jeanne
