Skinny Scarves and mannequins…

Guess what came in the mail today? Something I’ve been searching for for quite a while….a mannequin! She’s a beauty too. She’s just a torso and perfect for what we needed her for.

My daughter and I started making “skinny scarves” last year and mostly just gave them as gifts to our family and friends. They are made from a variety of novelty yarns and fibers and it’s so much fun to make them. You never know quite how they are going to turn out when you start. Each scarf has between 30 and 50 strands to it and they are really warm around your neck. I’ve won several lots of novelty yarns off Ebay and Etsy and have quite a few different color schemes that we can do.

I usually make the scarf and Rebecca makes the little “bling” part to each one. She’s able to use of one of a kind glass beads that she has and some novelty charms that she couldn’t use for anything else.

I tried listing a few last year on Etsy but we caught the tale end of Spring and missed out on the season for selling them. So, we’re jumping in right as the weather is turning cooler. This new mannequin will be so much nicer than what I tried last year. I had a size 3 toddler mannequin that I wrapped batting around and then put a bra on it and then tried to build it up and finally put a turtleneck on it. It always looked a little “off” to me.

Not anymore….with “Matilda” here, we’re back in business. I think she’ll be perfect and we can also use her to showcase Rebecca’s necklaces that she makes for women.

  1. Wow, love those scarves!! They can really make an outfit pop, and I am thinking my daughter would love one for Christmas, not to say her mother!!

    1. Thanks Linda,
Now that I have my new Matilda… I hope to add a few more scarves in the shop. They really are fun to wear! Today was the perfect day for one!

  2. Very pretty scarves & necklaces! I’m not a “scarf person” myself, but I think they are gorgeous. I especially love the one in blues & browns.
I popped over to your Etsy Shop and added it to my favorites. :o)

    1. HI Carolyn,
I’m not normally a scarf person either as I have a short neck, but these really aren’t like a scarf at all… and really fun to wear. Thanks for taking a peek in our Etsy shop. I need to get busy and get some new things stocked!
      Blessings, Jeanne
