She wore Blue for Christmas…

As much as I like red and green fabrics for Christmas doll dresses, there’s something fun about using other colors, and I’m not talking about silver or gold… I’m talking blue! A few years ago you could find fabrics with blue poinsettia’s and blue prints with snowflakes…not too many this year that I saw. But I do like to see the blue’s on my girls… something about it, makes the doll seem very vibrant and alive. I got to thinking back about how many blue dresses I’ve made for my girls in past Christmas’s and thought I’d share a few with you.

Here’s sweet little Tulah, a 7 1/2″ cutie by Helen Kish…

Well, that’s it for my blue Christmas dresses… Have a wonderful Saturday!

  1. I remember Kit’s blue dress — I think you did maybe 2 other similar ones for other dolls in different colors of the same fabric, and they were all beautiful. My favorite of this group is Nyssa’s, proving that you can make semi-goth dresses that are still very Jeanne Marie. I hope that one sold for a nice price and quickly.

We are finally having a few days in the 40s here so the ice is melting and I can more safely pick up my prescriptions today. People are emailing that their Christmas packages are arriving, and the Post Office people seem to be delivering day and night. Having packages arrive makes it feel more like Christmas.

I think you do need a dolls’ house. You could store some of your props there and your dolls could take a vacation from modeling there. It’s something to think about — or maybe it would just become one more house to clean and decorate for Christmas.

    1. HI Marilyn,
Yes, I made Kit’s dress in Navy, burgundy and green. I don’t know which color I liked on her best… Actually, I made a mistake after I had already posted Nyssa’s dress. That last blue and black flocked one wasn’t a Christmas dress…a doll customer wanted me to make her a dress for her doll for the Inaugural Ball when President Obama took office… my mistake…

It is so nice here in Southern Illinois, I went to the PO today and only wore a sweater with my jeans… our electric bill is WAY down… YAY! There were 20 people ahead of me at the PO. I got there and they were on 53 and my number was 73…it took a while…

I think I would LOVE a doll house… I may have to keep my eyes open for a piece of furniture that would work well for me… :o)

Speaking of cleaning house… I NEED to do that! ASAP!
      Thanks Marilyn,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  2. These dresses are all beautiful! My favorites are the Riley with the white fuzzy hat and jacket and Bitty Bethany with blue with white snowflakes. Only dolls that I have that you have are those two. I have sixteen Helen Kish Dolls. I am not a blue for Christmas person,
But all of these dresses are beautiful. I will look for some blue Christmas fabric at Joann’s
Next time I am there….maybe tomorrow.

    1. Thank you Sylvia,
I wish I could find more of that white furry fabric. It’s silky like and very thin so you can make itty bitty things from it without the bulk.
I hope you find some blue Christmas fabrics and make something for your Kishe’s!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  3. Nice way to start the day! I recall some of these as you made them. 🙂 Seeing Tulah makes me sad that Kish is going to ‘retire’ their Riley line, tho. :-/ As soon as mom gets home from the hospital, I may have to find a ‘blue’ christmas piece to sew on…gives me something to look forward to. I’ll leave this in my ‘inbox’ as a reminder!

    1. HI Mary,
Thank you so much for your comments. I hadn’t heard about Riley being retired… Helen has certainly used up every possible theme for her I think.
I hope you get that blue dress made for one of your dolls… whoever gets to wear it will certainly thank you!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  4. All lovely dresses but Nyssa’s stands out tor me. I never thought about blue for Christmas but a dark blue is my favorite of all the hlues. a starry night color.

    1. Hi Jan,
I’m glad you liked my “blue” dresses. I have one piece of crushed velvet in an icy blue that is just SO pretty… I found it on the bottom of my Christmas stash… I need to move it to the top of the box for next year…
      Thanks so much,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  5. Beautiful outfits, Jeanne. Your sewing is amazing as well as your designs. Oh my gosh, each dress is a work of art. I really like seeing your dress archives.
Have a great day doing what you want.
“Silver Bells, silver bells, it’s Christmas time in the city….

    1. Thanks so much Paula,
I’m glad you haven’t gotten tired of seeing my dresses again. I certainly do have the pictures, don’t I?
I think I’m going to clean some house…
It’s certainly Christmas Time at Walmart today… they were really bustling in there…
      Blessings, Jeanne

    1. Thanks for your sweet compliments Christine,
I’m glad you liked the blue dresses… me too!
      Blessings, Jeanne

    1. Hi Joy,
Yes, I have to agree with you, Tulah looks very pretty in blue…also in greens! She’s been long gone from my collection, but it was fun seeing her sweet face again…
      Thanks so much,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  6. Susette Willhite

What a wonderful collection! I especially like the snowman dress on Katie Effanbee and Nyssa’s highly detailed dress. I’m sure that’s your highly developed imagination, Jeanne, and there’s no pattern for that little number. Each one of them is special in its own way. Thanks for sharing them with us.

    1. HI Susette,
I’m glad you enjoyed today’s pictures of my girls in their blue dresses… I did too. Some of them I had forgotten about…
Nope, no pattern for Nyssa’s dress… made it up as I went along… like usual…
      Thanks again,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  7. After reading this tonight and thinking gee most of the clothes that I own are blue and it is my favorite color… Why don’t I like it for Christmas?? Just looking around there is not much blue. Colored lights on the Christmas tree but no blue. I do have a beautiful Hummel figurine
Angel that is blue and that is all. Will have to change that. Off to Joanns tomorrow for some
    Blue Christmas fabric.

    1. Hi Sylvia, I hope you found some blue fabric to make your Christmas just a little bit more festive…
      Blessings, Jeanne

      1. I went to Joann Fabric yesterday and have started to make a dress for one of my 14″ Kish dolls. Will see which one likes it best. Will keep yo updated.
