Sewing Room Makeover ~ continued

The mini blind’s up and the length shortened too

CIMG4183

CIMG4186

The white fabrics are folded and not all askew…

Here is the hole behind what was there

My hubby will hang the paneling with care…

CIMG4171

The tract lighting had to come off the wall

To put up the paneling so big and so tall

CIMG4178

He found some blue trim and thought it might do

I’m thrilled that he found it, I like it, do you?

CIMG4179

It makes it look better and more pulled together

That hubby of mine is a super go getter…

CIMG4175

I patched some spots and filled the nail holes

Painting that trim was one of my goals…

CIMG4181

I primed the big wall and tomorrow I’ll paint

By noon I’ll be finished…I don’t think I can wait!

CIMG4195

(Here’s a total aside… I found the best tip on Pinterest….when painting…use a plastic bag to wrap around the tray and scoop in your paint and go…it keeps the paint from getting all over the tray and when you are done…you pour any paint back into your can and wad up the plastic bag and throw it away! It was wonderful!!!)

CIMG4193

My hubby did caulking… I call him Caulk King

He fills in the cracks and makes my heart sing!

CIMG4188

Ironing board covers weren’t much to choose from

I picked the gray one…it was better than some…

CIMG4200

So needless to say we didn’t get done…

But throughout the day, we did have some fun…

Pizza for lunch and macaroni for dinner

Ice cream for the “hubster”… he thought it was a winner!

CIMG4185

…and the saga continues… but we are very close to being done… (yah, yah, yah…we’ve heard that before…) :o)

I read all your comments and they were great! I then read them to my hubby and he laughed at them… You all are the most creative bunch I know. Thanks so much for all your sweet thoughts and comments… I have lots to think about…

See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

  1. Progress is always being made.

My husband was a house painter for a number of years….highly sought after in the historic/ante-bellum district we lived in while in NC. He discovered that 95% of the time is prep work, the rest (top-coating), is easy once that hard part is over. It’s obvious that you know what that’s about. You’ll have a lovely finish when it’s all done.

    Blessings.

    1. HI Becky,
My “creative” sister in PA says the same thing about the prep work… it’s not much fun when you are doing it, but is sure pays off in the long run.
I bet your hubby painted some beautiful houses in that area! Wow… what fun (as well as work) that must have been…
It will be finished one of these days and when it is, I’ll shout it from the mountain tops!
      Thanks Becky,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  2. Wonderful progress. Think how beautiful your sewing room, living room, and dining room will look when all the clutter is cleared out. It will be like having a new house. You are going to be very happy there.

    1. HI Marilyn,
Yes, some progress, but this morning my mom called and wanted me to take her to the eye doctor and then her AC seems to be going out so my hubby got called into the picture. It’s now straight up 2:00 and my walls still need to be painted… oh well… I’ll be done when I’m done!
      Thanks so much Marilyn,
      blessings, Jeanne

  3. Can’t wait to see it all done. These teasers and poetic descriptions are the best!! The wall looks great too!
I like your ironing board cover. Every time I want to replace mine, I never find ones I like. They’re all ugly. Every ironing board needs a pretty cover. Makes the ironing more fun.
You and George are doing a great job.

    1. HI Paula,
I can’t WAIT till it’s all done… too many interruptions make a job take longer.. I know I’m pretty close, but still not quite there… in time I guess.
The wall does look pretty good and that trim will be really a nice “cover up” for all the imperfections the people before us created… When it’s painted it won’t be noticed at all. I hope!
The ironing board cover has grown on me… not exactly what I had in mind, but the price was right and it will eventually get changed…I’m pretty hard on covers…
      Thanks so much Paula,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  4. Thanks so much for your painting tip..I hate washing the roller pan after painting..now I will never have to again! I bet Ebay or other sites online have a big selection of ironing board covers. I might look as I really need a new one. I like the pattern you selected for yours. Good luck on getting your sewing room finished.

    1. HI Jane,
I liked the painting tip too…I’ve used it twice and I like it! My hubby thinks those little ridges and bumps in the paint tray make your roller load the paint better but I’m all for easy clean up myself.
      Thanks so much Jane… I’m getting there….
      Blessings, Jeanne

  5. Your room is really coming along! I never thought about shortening a mini-blind! How clever!! Waiting for the big reveal!!

    1. HI Karen,
I’ve shortened all the blinds in my house… except for my faux wood ones in the dining room. We need to replace those last 4 windows and I’m not sure what size the new ones will be so I haven’t shortened them.
I’ve also restrung the blinds many times too, when the little cords get frayed and won’t pull up the blinds…
The reveal will come soon I hope… but not if I don’t keep busy…
      Thanks so much, Karen,
      blessings, Jeanne

  6. You’re closer to the finish with every post, Jeanne! It’s been quite the makeover, but I’m glad to hear you have had some fun (and good eats!) along the way. Your dolls look very curious and excited from their places on the shelf. I’m sure there is a lot of chatter over who will be the first to receive a new outfit created in your fresh and fabulous new dream space. They aren’t the only eager ones! Happy Monday, Jeanne, and I hope the welcome picnic for new students was a huge success!

    1. HI Anne,
I wanted to snap a picture so much last night when my hubby was tacking up the paneling over the hole in the wall. It looked like Kit and Julie were watching his every move.
There has been some talk on the dolly shelf about who will be next and I’ve glanced at my fabrics trying to decide… I have an idea, but not totally set on it… in a few days I’ll decide…
      Thanks so much Anne,
We did have a great picnic… not a drop of rain on the picnic… and that morning there was a 90% chance of rain! :o)
      Blessings, Jeanne

  7. Cute poem to describe your room overhaul. It really is looking great and organized. I’m sure you will be so pleased when it is complete and all your sewing goodies will be easy to find.
I spent the majority of the day outside. It was SPECTACULAR, mid 70’s , a full breeze and lots of sun!!! Sorry to write and run. It’s time to start dinner.

    1. Hi Laura,
I just finished giving the big wall and the trim 2 coats of paint so I think I am done with that part.
My hubby had to check out my mom’s AC today because it stopped working and then when he got home someone else called him about their AC and stopped up drain. He also had a meeting tonight so my hand an can’t help me with anything… 🙁

Bit I still have entry I can do without him.
      Thanks Laura,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  8. Lookin’ good, Jeanne! You are almost at the finish line, and I can’t wait to see it when you get there! I think a lot of ladies are anxious to see it too! It’s sometimes the little things that count, but they seem to take time, don’t they? I love your new ironing board cover! It looks so fresh and your iron looks so pretty and shiny on it!
That’s a great tip for painting! Looks like the clean up was a breeze!

I’m getting excited about going to see the new Melody doll this week! Not getting her, but want to check out her clothes and all the new release items coming out Thursday. A beautiful day today, once again! I got a lot done in the yard today, finally!

    1. HI Linda,
The wait is almost over… this could take days getting it tweaked just right so I’m showing it tomorrow… there are a few things still to be done, but I have to work around my “handyman’s” schedule, so I’m going to show what I have done…
You are anxious to see it and I’m anxious to show it! It’s a win win!!!

You’ll have to give us a “Linda Review” of Melody so we’ll all know what you think of her.
      It was a beautiful day here too… I got a lot done…. “inside!” :o)
      Thanks Linda,
      Blessings, Jeanne
