Sandals, Slips and Sneak Peeks…

I had high hopes of getting Felicity’s dress finished today, but my hubby wanted me to take a 3 hour CPR class with him tonight, so I was the good wife and learned about saving lives instead of sewing on snaps… :o) & :o(

I was a little behind already and it’s now 1:45 Thursday morning, but I am determined to get this post written. I’ll take a nap later…

I do have a few things to share… I got a package in the mail from Dale, at Lone Star Dolls. (HERE) She told me she was sending me something for Ten Ping and I received the cutest, tiniest, sweetest little pair of red sandals you have ever seen. They are like itty bitty jellies…and look so sweet on her feet. I can’t believe the workmanship on these tiny little things! It is just incredible.

Thank you Dale… it was so kind of you to send them to me… and Ten Ping. I may never get them off of her. (You can find the sandals at Dale’s shop HERE.
I still don’t have Ten Ping’s book bag finished so she’s not ready to get her dress listed on Ebay just yet.

I did however get a few slips finished this evening…I just had to try out that new blue lace. It looks pretty sweet for slips. I made 3 blue ones and a new white one. You can find them in our Etsy shop HERE.

And I’ll share with you one last thing…just a couple shots of Felicity’s dress. It’s coming along, but I’m not ready to show you the whole thing yet, so you’ll have to use your imagination for now. I was doing a little reading in Coleman’s Collector’s Book of Dolls’ Clothes to make sure I was getting the Colonial things just right. I need to finish up a petticoat and a mob cap probably…

Also, tonight is when my Blogging Made Easy class starts… Let’s hope I’m a good student and learn lots of new things to improve my website and blogging skills…

See you tomorrow,

  1. What a fun blog today, Jeanne! Every time I saw a new picture, I just said “Oh, how cute!” Love the little shoes for Ten Ping! I can’t imagine who could come up with those and actually make them!

And the slips! Oh, how pretty! Now I need another one! Love the way you put the ribbon on the white one to make it different, and the blue ones look just heavenly!

Oh, Josefina’s dress is beautiful! Love the sleeves and that waistband is amazing! Can’t wait to see it finished!

    1. Good morning Linda,
Aren’t those shoes just the cutest little things you’ve ever seen. I can’t get over how well they are made for being so tiny…
If you need another one, there are still a few left in my shop… *hint* *hint*
Actually the dress is for Felicity, not Josefina… but if anyone’s Josefina wanted to wear it, I wouldn’t object!
      Thanks Linda,
      Blessings, Jeanne

      1. Oh, excuse me Jeanne! I thought I was talking about Felicity, but wrote down Josefina instead! Oh well, it was early in the morning! Yes, I see one of your slips is sold already! Trying to make up my mind which one I want, decisions, decisions!

    1. Hi Maureen,
I’m glad you’re liking Felicity’s dress so far. But just wait… I think you’ll like the final reveal…
      Blessings, Jeanne

    1. HI Jevne,
I used a piece of vintage lace from the box of laces I just received from Anita. It was just perfect for Felicity’s sleeves. I can’t wait to get this one finished…
      Thanks Jevne,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  2. Hi Jeanne,
Ten Ping’s little sandals are so cute. Perfect for her.
Loved the sneak peek of Felicity’s dress. Nice material and accents! It will be a lovely dress.
Ooooh the slips….so sweet and pretty. I need to start a list here….
Hope you enjoy your class tonight. That ought to be very interesting.
    Blessings!

    1. HI Paula,
Yes, aren’t Ten Ping’s little sandals sweet?
I wish I could have shown a few more pictures of Felicity’s dress, but this is what was most relevant… I’m truly hoping to get it finished… the hard part is over…
I really am glad I bought the blue lace…it’s just the prettiest slip ever…
      I’m looking forward to seeing what I don’t know…
      Blessings, Jeanne

  3. You’ve been busy, Jeanne. Love your slips. Isn’t it fun to get new items in your shop? Felicity’s dress looks like it will be very pretty for fall and the holidays too.

Would love to hear about your blogging class; I could use a few tips myself. Enjoy it!

So sweet of Dale to send you a pair of shoes for Ten Ping.

    1. Hi Cindy,
Well, I have been busy, but not always the kind of busy that is productive for my sewing business! But that’s okay…
I’ll share with you what I find out… but you were a graphics major, weren’t you? You already know way more than I do, I’m sure!
Yes, it was awfully sweet of Dale to send those tiny shoes. I’m not 100% sure they go with the style of her dress, so I’m thinking of doing something else with them…
      Blessings, Jeanne

  4. I’m a little late to the party today. Love the slips especially the white one with the scalloped edge.
Felicity’s dress is certainly going to be pretty. Aren’t you glad you got her back?! She looks so elegant in everything.
My West German girl is my absolute favorite, but I’ve told her that before. šŸ™‚
The dress looks as if it’s going to be dressy. You could consider making a pinner cap or round eared cap to going with it instead.

    1. Hi Laura, when I wrote mob cap I was actually thinking of a round seated cap…
I think Felicity’s dress is going to look very dressy. I still have a few “extras” to add…it’s always the details that matter…
Thanks for all your kind comments.
      Blessings, Jeanne

    1. Thank you Judi, I certainly hope you’re right! I’m not too fond of making ugly dresses!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  5. Don’t you have a lot of Williamsburg hats you want to use? Now that’s it’s cooling off, Felicity might love to go walking with a beautiful new hat to go with her beautiful new dress.
Which will go to Ebay first, the new Ten-Ping outfit or the new Felicity one? I agree with you that the sandals need their own, designed to go with them outfit and you do have some nice new shoe fabric to go with the present outfit and maybe use as trim for her bookbag.
I’m designing too — my goddaughter wants a Steampunk style costume for Halloween and her mother and I are ransacking our dressers and closets for things that will work. I found some lovely shoe clips and a skirt that needs to be re-purposed. I need a hat.

    1. Hi Marilyn,
ā€œSomeoneā€ is reading my mind! I do plan on decorating a hat for this dress.
Iā€™m not sure who will make it to eBay firstā€¦plus the buyer who bought Julieā€™s pink dress never paid. After I contacted eBay, they wanted me to cancel the order. But I had to give the Lady ten days to see if she would pay. She never did. So Becca is making Julie a new necklace to go with her dress.
I hope you find just the right items to use for your goddaughters costume.
      Thanks Marilyn, Jeanne

  6. Considering you did a three hour CPR class, you were really productive today. I’m really liking the way Felicity’s dress is looking and can’t wait to see how it turns out. I love the colonial dresses and that one looks like it would make a nice Christmas outfit.

    1. HI Carolyn,
Well, I may have been productive yesterday but not so much today. I couldn’t get things to work out today… so I’m pretty empty handed today…
I think this will make a nice Christmas dress too.
      Blessings, Jeanne

  7. I can’t believe it! You still had my favorite slip. It’s gone now.
The CPR class was a good idea. You can never tell when you might be glad you took it.

    1. HI Marilyn,
Let me know which slip you liked and I can make another one for you if you want…

The CPR class was very good and we learned CPR for adults, children and infants… I hope I NEVER have to use it, but it is good to know…
      Thanks Marilyn,
      Blessings, Jeanne

      1. Just what you need — something else to do. No, I got the blue slip on Esty, that’s why it’s gone. You can go back to Ten-Ping and Felicity in peace. I’m cooking lentils with herbs from the garden. They smell so good.

        1. Hi Marilyn,
Thanks for buying the last blue slip. I made it to the Post Office just in time to get it mailed off today…enjoy!
          Blessings, Jeanne
