Red Robins and Patsy Tonner’s Robin Egg blue Easter dress…

Seriously, I saw quite a few robins in the yard yesterday. I should have grabbed my camera to show you. They were hopping in between snow piles that were melting pretty quickly as it warmed up into the upper 30’s. It was just about all gone, except for the big piles and then today….
look what happened… needless to say, I didn’t see ANY robins today!

I took this picture about 10 a.m. and it was sleeting pretty heavily. It went on for 2 hours…then it turned into snow…great big snowflakes…

Then I took these pictures this afternoon about 2 p.m. I think we got about 5-6 inches. It’s still snowing too…

So I just stayed in and sewed. My little friend Sara, and her mom weren’t able to come over today. But Sara is going to be picked up by my hubby tomorrow and we’ll spend the day making those cupcakes after all. Sara’s mom won’t be able to make it tomorrow because of classes, so I guess Sara will have to teach her mom how to make them.

After I cleaned house, because I thought they were coming over, I worked on Patsy’s dress some more. I didn’t manage to get it listed, but it will go on Ebay tomorrow evening. I thought I would show you the “final final” reveal. I changed a few things on it.

I decided to add a little “greenery” on the vintage lace at the waist. It just seemed a little washed out to me…the ivory seed beads just sort of got lost in the lace. I think the green leaves add a bit of interest as well as color.

I finished the back with the same seed beads as I used on the lace and the hat.

I also made a little tulle half slip for Patsy. It helps hold out her dress nicely.

I always forget that Elin, my 10″ Iplehouse Ball Jointed Doll, can wear almost everything Patsy can. So I took a few pictures of her in the dres set too.

You can find this dress on Ebay beginning this evening. As soon as it’s up and running on Ebay, I’ll change the picture at the right side bar and you can just click on that to go to the listing.

Hopefully tomorrow will be about cupcakes and learning more English…(Sara, not me!) My younger sister was supposed to come for a visit till Sunday, but I think she’s decided to pass. She’d have to ski to see me!

See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

  1. How darling is that dress! Oh yes, Jeanne, just adding those leaves did make the beads and lace more noticeable and just added to the dress! Did you actually make buttons out of those beads for the back? Wow!

We did not get as much snow yesterday as you did. Most of it was south of us, but we did pick up a dusting , you might say, and everything is white again, but not for long with higher temperatures coming this weekend, along with Daylight Saving Time!

Birds—yes, but no robins lately. We have lots of Cardinals, finches, wrens, Black-Capped Chickadee’s, Cedar Waxwings, among others. And squirrels—gosh, they are coming out of the woodwork here!

Have fun with Sara today, and maybe snap a few pics of the cupcakes!!

    1. Hi Linda,
Thanks for the compliments on Patsy’s dress. No, I didn’t make actual buttons, but just sewed on 3 little beads to give it some “glam” appeal.

The sun is shining here today but the high is only supposed to be 22, so not much will melt… We do have birds galore around our feeded. The blackbirds and starlings have found the feeder…and it’s not that I don’t want to feed them, bur I’d rather save our feed for the cardinals and chickadees and tufted titmouses!

It’s a “GO” for the cupcakes today and her mom gets to come after all because the university was closed today! I’m sure we’re going to have fun!
      Thanks, blessings, Jeanne

  2. I haven’t seen one single robin yet. 🙁 When I woke this morning the wind chill was -21. It’s since gone up to -19 so things are looking up. LOL It’s March 5th, right? Mother Nature has been playing a lot of cruel jokes on many people this winter. Anyway…enough about the weather.
I like the added green on Patsy’s new dress. It is the month of green after all. Hope you get those cupcakes made today, Jeanne.

    1. HI Cindy,
Brrrr….that’s too cold! Spring, where are you???
      Thank you Cindy!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  3. Patsy’s dress is even prettier with the green and extra beading. It was 72 degrees here yesterday, we have a lot of birds. Today is a different story, 37 degrees with rain/sleet mix.

    1. Hi Regina,
That 72 degrees sounded wonderful…while it lasted.
Thank you for your kind words about Patsy’s dress. I like it better too with a little color.
      Blessings, Jeanne

Jeanne, the additional beads and leaves are really the finishing touches. Very nice. The dress is very happy to me! Certainly helps me think that spring is close…… we hope !!!!

We had lots of rain, wind, sleet yesterday afternoon and evening. Then during the night it snowed quite heavily. We have about 4 inches, which for Dallas is quite a bit. The temp is hovering at about 22 and the weather casters are saying it is frigid out! As a former Minnesotan I just have to laugh. I think it is lovely. The sun has come out so I am sure our temps will rise and the snow will melt leaving a big slushy mess. Too bad. I could handle this for a few days for old times sake.

Your yard is beautiful and looks like a picture ! Have fun making those cupcakes and your English language lessons!!

    1. Thanks Jeannie,
Yes, I liked the addition of the green leaves on the dress. It just needed something extra.

The sun has been shining here today so hopefully all this snow will be melted in a few days, although it’s really cold and a lot of it isn’t going anywhere. I think tomorrow’s high is supposed to be 17! EEP!

We did have fun with the cupcakes…you’ll read about it probably tomorrow.
      Thanks Jeannie,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  5. The touch green on the lace really makes the beads more visible. You were right about them ‘getting lost’ in the lace, they’re so nearly the same color as the lace. The dress and hat are very pretty; I’m certain there are lots of Patsys and Ann Estelles out there hoping they get to wear it. Good luck with your auction.

    1. Thank you Jevne,
I’m glad everyone agreed with me on adding the green leaves… I think it looks much better.
I hope you’re right about all those Patsy and Add Estelle lovers out there!
      Thank you again,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  6. Hi Jeanne,

The Patsy dress is absolutely adorable and complete, as all have agreed on the added green leaves. It is just so sweet.
Glad the cupcake and English lessons worked out. Despite the weather, and because of the weather, the cupcake plans worked out for Sara and her mom to come! Have fun. Sara will be so proud to take her cupcakes to school.
Your pictures of winter are beautiful and that’s what I love about winter – the fresh fallen snow is so pretty and pure looking, peaceful too- however I don’t wish the winter hardships on anybody, especially doggies, kitties and other wildlife.
Enjoy your day with your friends…may the cupcakes turn out beautifully!!

    1. Hi Paula,
Yes, the “winter wonderland” looks great when it’s just fallen. It’s the driving in it that bothers me. I’m not a snow and ice kind of driver. I can…but I don’t like to.

We did have fun and I know it’s not about dolls, but my post for tomorrow will most likely be about my day today. You just take for granted that everyone knows how to make cupcakes…but they don’t!
      Thank you Paula,
      blessings, Jeanne
