Pretty pink doll dresses…five different ways…

First off, thank you so much for the wonderful comments on my kids Mother’s Day cards to me in yesterday’s post. (HERE is that post) I didn’t get my comments to your comments till later in the evening, so if you made one, I have answered you now. It was such fun looking in the box and reminiscing about how fast time has gone by. It doesn’t seem possible. I had a wonderful Mother’s Day starting out with church and celebrating with all my “mom” friends. All of the mom’s got chocolates and gift certificates to Cool Spoons, a frozen yogurt and every-kind-of-topping you can imagine kind of place. We went to lunch at Applebee’s with my mom and Kristoffer and Rebecca. It was wonderful and while there, my son gave me a card with tickets to see a Cardinal’s baseball game in St. Louis…this coming Sunday!!! I’m a big Cardinals fan, but have never been to a game with him! Afterwards we wound up going to Cool Spoons for dessert! It was a fabulous day! I hope yours was wonderful too!

One other little tidbit… I have hit my 100 subscriber mark! Actually I have surpassed it! Thank you so much!!! It looks like I better get that Giveaway figured out pretty quickly! Thank you to my newest subscribers…Pariaud (I hope this was your first name.. I wasn’t sure), Donna, (someone who didn’t put down a first name, but “nigel…”) and Natalia! I appreciate you all coming to join the fun we have here.

Okay…now to today’s post…

On Saturday I featured 5 different dresses for my dolls made from the same blue and yellow floral fabric, (you can see that post HERE) but all slightly different in their styling.
Everyone seemed to have their favorite, but the overwhelming winner from the comments and from emails I received proved that Elizabeth’s dress took the top slot! It was a fun dress to make and was a special order (back when I took them…) and not only did the buyer get the blue one but she also got the dress in my “pink version” which has been my all time favorite pink fabric for years. Let’s see what you all think of the pink dress…

If you click on any picture, it will enlarge.

Next up modeling a dress in the pink floral is Katie Effanbee…(sorry but her pictures are so old from the “archives” I couldn’t get them to enlarge)

A very dear friend asked me back last November if I could make two doll dresses for some very “needy” little girls. How could I turn him down? The only requirements was he wanted one to be purple and one to be pink. One needed to be a fancy party dress and one he wanted to the floor. He wanted them both to have an old fashioned feel about them. These were the two dresses I came up with… notice…there’s that “favorite pink fabric” again…

This sweet little dress in the pink, fit both Elin Iplehouse and Patsy by Robert Tonner. The white hankie was a vintage one from Switzerland and the absolute most delicate and detailed hankie I have ever personally seen.

I know this is a “pink” post, but I just have to show you a close up of this hankie… click on it to see it even better.

Last up is Wren, a 13″ doll by Helen Kish. I know you’ve heard me say it before, but I’ve always loved this dress on Wren. Maybe it was the way she posed…she was my first articulated doll, or maybe it was her white fluffy puppy, but I just loved her in this.

Okay, so let’s see what happens with the pink dresses…

See you tomorrow,

  1. I love the pink, Jeanne! That dress of Cecile’s—-just darling! She looks really good in pink and the ribbon trims on the side of the skirt are so pretty! It reminds me of the dress that AG made for Marie Grace, but I like yours better! She needs that lace parasol now, but I am sure the dress is long gone from you and onto some lucky customer! I really like that necklace too, so perfect int he way the colors accent the dress!

Oh, those antique handkerchiefs! That is a gorgeous one you have on that dress! It is from Switzerland? I have relatives there, so maybe —-no, they probably don’t make those kind anymore. Where DO you find those hanky’s?

Have fun at the ballgame! That will be pretty close to me, at least closer than we are now! I’ll be watching on TV, so wave!!! 🙂

    1. HI Linda,
Yes, isn’t Cecile pretty in pink? It’s definitely one of “her” colors. She “does” need a parasol for this one…
That hankie on Patsy’s dress WAS from Switzerland. I find them at little antique shops mostly. I have bought a few off of Ebay but I like to see them in person usually.

I plan on having fun at the ballgame. Kristoffer was born the night of the World Series in 1987. It was the 7th game, and I had watched the Card’s during the time I was pregnant with him. That final 7th game proved to be too much for the Card’s and the Minnesota Twins won the World Series. I delivered Kristoffer and then in my room I watched my team lose! Boo hoo!!
      I’ll wave so be watching!!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  2. Love love love that pink material. Each dress you’ve shown us is beautiful. Especially the American Girl’s dresses.
Hope you enjoyed your ballgame. How fun.
My brother’s family came for the weekend. It was so much fun. Even “conned” some of the girls to play Pictionary!
Have a great Monday…I’m off to wash a large pile of bed sheets!!

    1. HI Paula,
Thanks so much for your kind words about my Pink dresses!
I didn’t get to the ballgame yet…it’s this coming Sunday, but I’ll have fun!!
Oh how fun…pictionary! We had a party one time and played that game. Never laughed so hard in my life.
I’ve got things to do too… but fortunately not laundry!
      Thanks Paula,
      blessings, Jeanne

  3. Good morning, Jeanne! It sounds like you had a wonderful Mother’s Day. I enjoyed seeing all of your cards from your son and daughter. It is amazing how fast they grow up, isn’t it, but each stage is different and fun? Now, you get to enjoy a ballgame with your son, and he will probably drive and worry about parking, etc.
Congrats on achieving your 100+ subscribers. I can see why more and more people want to read your blog each day. It is a daily habit that I thoroughly enjoy each and every day.
Beautiful pink dresses! Sorry, I cannot pick a favorite; they are all sweet on your cutie pies.

    1. HI Cindy,
I did have a wonderful Mother’s Day and I hope you did too! Yes, the kids have grown up so quickly. Looking back at those cards, it’s amazing how you can remember the day they gave that card to you or how you helped them with some picture. I really does fly by so quickly.

Yes, Kristoffer has been to many many games, so he knows the “ropes” and will take care of his mom…I’m glad I don’t have to worry about a thing, except what to wear!

Thank you Cindy for your kind words about my blog. It’s nice to know you enjoy it. I wish I was as faithful at reading yours…as you are at mine. I always get your notices on my phone, open them up and then plan on commenting when I set down at my computer and can type much quicker, but sometimes I forget… sorry!
Thanks Cindy, I enjoy your presence here each day.
      Blessings, Jeanne

  4. That fabric is outstanding. I wonder if they will make it again sometime? It goes with everything. I think I like the one on Patsy and friends. the hankie with it is too cute for words, and of course it fits to a “T”
Glad you had an awesome Mother’s day. What fun to go see the Cardinals!
My kids planned a surprise…they landed all at once and painted the fence across the backyard…2.5 hours and done and it’s 75 ft long! G kids pulled weeds..Did it on Saturday so all the Momies could have a day to themselves too.

    1. Hi Kathie,
Thanks for the compliments on the dresses. I think Elin and Patsy look pretty cute in that dress too.
I haven’t gone to see the Cardinals yet…it’s this coming Sunday that we go.
It sounds like your Mother’s day was a fun one, filled with lots of excitement from the kids and G kids. Wow…and you got work done too…that’s pretty nifty!
Hope your day was really special. Mine was…
      Blessings, Jeanne

  5. Hi Jeanne,
I’ve missed your posts the last couple of days and am catching up now. Yes, Elizabeth’s dress would be my pick, too. Your children’s Mother’s Day cards are so sweet. I wasn’t aware that you home schooled your children. I home schooled my daughter from K-12. I enjoyed it immensely and wish you could turn back time to kindergarten and do it all over again. *Sigh*
Cecile’s dress is my favorite one of the pink dresses. I love those Civil war styles as much if not more than Colonial. My next doll will be a “custom” one that I can sew Civil War clothes for. I always wished Pleasant Company had made another doll in Addy’s time. I would have wanted a Southern Belle who helped her escape to freedom. That’s the doll i have in mind. 🙂
Hope that you enjoy the game on Sunday!

    1. HI Laura,
I’m glad you liked the dresses! Pink or blue, that seems to be the winner!
I know what you mean about homeschooling your kids…those were fin times. I was the secretary at the small Christian school they attended from K4-4th and 7th grade. So I was with them all long too, even when they were “in” school.

I think another Civil War doll would have done well too. You’ll have to let me know which doll you plan to get customized… I bet she’ll be perfect!
I plan on enjoying the game with my son! There’s a fabric store up there so it might be nice if he could let me run in for just “five” minutes…think that’s possible?
      Blessings to you Laura,
      ~ Jeanne

Pink and more pink is just fine with me!! Love that pink!!! and lilac and mint green and turquoise and lavender…………………… I do love the floral print that you have used to make many sweet dresses for your girls. When I saw Wren’s dress and how wonderfully she posed I was smitten. I have Kish Piper and treasure her beauty. She is wearing a white dotted swiss dress, white lace tights and white shoes. She looks like an angel. I think I will go into the sewing room and re-pose her like your Wren. Now see how you inspire us!
    I love this blog today!!!

  7. Hi Jeannie,
Who would have thought that last August I’d be writing a blog that “inspires ladies to pose their dolls in new ways?” I sure would never have dreamed it! Glad to have “helped” you Jeannie.
Thanks so much for your wonderful comments today Jeannie. I’m having as much fun as you are, I think.
    Blessings, Jeanne

  8. HI, Jeanne!!! ~

Oh, MY! Your dolly couture, whether pink, or blue, or “sky blue pink”, is all FABULOUS! However, PLEASE don’t “tease” me: As you are aware, I am DESPERATELY looking for some appropriate & attractive couture for my Effanbee “Katie Jo” (the “By the Seashore” model, who was “accidentally misplaced” in our cavernous basement for 8 years by my younger adult son, and found by me last week, when our water meter was replaced). Your pink couture dress for “Katie” is GORGEOUS (as are the other outfits, as well!!!) Oh, well; you are not the only doll couturier (but probably the BEST!) who no longer has patterns for, or sews for, this older, and almost forgotten, doll. So (sigh), it will have to forever be summer for my “Katie” in her factory-issued summer seersucker sun dress…unless I can “figure out” how to make a pattern tailored for her, and to sew!

I enjoyed seeing the Mother’s Day cards your kids gave you over the years!!! ENJOY the Cardinals’ game!!!

OH! Your couture outfit for my Ruby Red Galleria “Mia Ariel-la” arrived today. It looks SPECTACULAR, and I will be dressing her up in it tomorrow. (Lucky, LUCKY girl!) I will email pics if I can figure out the technology by which to do so.

    HAPPY dolling! ~

    1. HI Cheryl,
Thank you very much for all your kind words about my sewing and about the outfit your received for your Ten Ping. I’m so happy you liked it.
It’s wonderful that you found your Katie Effanbee doll last week. That’s a terribly long time to have been missing! Poor thing.
I haven’t looked on Ebay or Etsy but surely “someone” is sewing for Katie aren’t they? I’ll have to check and see if I recognize any of the seamstresses… or maybe someone on here sews for her and has a doll that they can fit a dress to her. Anyone? I sold my Katie long ago…
Thanks again Cheryl, Your compliments were over the top. I appreciate them.
      Blessings, Jeanne

      1. THANK YOU SO MUCH, Jeanne! ANY & ALL help in finding well-made & attractive couture for my Effanbee “Katie Jo” is GREATLY appreciated!

FYI ~ All comments regarding YOUR LOVELY couture are TRUE!

        Have a DOLL-lightful evening! ~
