Pretty and Proper Pantalettes…

I love having my Regency dresses just a tiny bit shorter and showing off a pair of feminine pantalettes underneath. Usually done in white fabrics, the daintier the better, is my goal. I found this ruffly white cotton fabric and made many many pairs of pantalettes from it but have now run out of it, so the search is on for something else equally as sweet. I made a few pair from a delicate cotton with embroidery but I liked to make the designs on the legs symmetrical, so they looked alike. It wasted a lot of the fabric so it’s better if it’s an allover design.

Here is a small sampling of my pantalettes…I need to get some more stocked in my Etsy shop.

  1. Oh Jeanne, I love seeing those pretty pantalettes! The ones I have from you really make the outfits look so finished off and perfectly ladylike! I have gotten many compliments on them from my friends and have YOU you to thank!

    1. Thank you Linda,
I’m glad you are enjoying your pantalettes…your doll too! I need to make some more… and gloves, and doll dresses, and coats, etc… I’m pulled in too many directions…
Tomorrow is the Super Bowl…so I’m taking the day off… now I’m even going to be further behind… ugh!

    1. Thanks Cindy,
Half the fun of shopping is searching for what you need… I love shopping for fabrics! I’m sure something will turn up…

  2. Lovely fabric. It takes precise sewing to match the design in the fabric as you do. Most of all, the pantalettes look a perfect fit!

    1. Hi Jan,
Yes, those striped fabrics can be tricky, even the ones with lace on them. I’m sure I’ll find something to take the place of this one… time to start a new design for my pantalettes.
      Thanks so much,
      Blessings, Jeanne

    1. HI Jane,
Sometimes when I made an extra pretty pair, I thought the same thing… almost like they should be worn on the outside!

They are so darling! I remember Rhett Butler remarking to Scarlett about her pantalettes. I doubt she had any quite as fancy as these!! I hope you have success in finding a new fabric for your stash.

    1. Thank you Jeannie,
Pantalettes have been around for a long time… at least for our dolls…
I’m sure I’ll find something… it’s always fun to be on the look out for something new.

  4. So sweet! I really like the ones you embellished with embroidery floss and little buttons. I was looking at the eyelet fabric today at Hancocks but didn’t see the fancy type you were using. I’m sure more selection will be available when it gets closer to summer time.

    1. Hi Carolyn,
Thank you very much for your compliments on my pantalettes. I’m sure you’re right…as it gets warmer and into Spring time fabrics, something will come up. Good ole’ Hancocks… I think all sewing ladies go there!
      Blessings, Jeanne
