Pink and Green on those less seen…

PLEASE NOTE:
Speaking of pink and green… Isabelle’s dress that she modeled this week is ending tonight on Ebay. You can see it by clicking on the picture at the right side bar or you can click on this link…

~ Pretty as a Picture ~

We’ve been having some really warm weather here in Southern Illinois… so much so, our trees are budding out and some are in full bloom. The flowering magnolia’s are absolutely gorgeous. They are covered with giant pink blossoms and are very eye catching. When they are in a yard with an evergreen tree it’s such a pretty sight seeing them together.
It made me think of one of my favorite color combinations… pink and green! I thought it had been a while since I showcased some of my archived girls and their dresses and I don’t think I’ve ever shown this color combination before…If I have, sorry… I only picked pictures of my girls who were 11″ and smaller.

If it’s drab where you live, or it’s raining or maybe even snowing, I hope these pictures give you the promise that Spring is just around the corner…

Here is tiny 7 1/2″ Riley, by Helen Kish, in a dainty dress with some pretty embroidery work done in silk ribbon.

If you click on the pictures, they will enlarge.

Here’s Riley in another pink and green ensemble… I found this sweet embroidered hankie at an antique shop and loved making this dress.

Here is Riley in a hot pink pinwale corduroy with a touch of green to the set…

This is Nurse Riley in a pretty mint green dress and a pink sweater I made from a knit fabric. The front is embroidered with silk ribbons.

Next I’ll show you a couple of pink and green sets for Bitty Bethany… if I remember correctly, she was 11″ tall. I don’t have Riley or Bitty Bethany any more.
This is one of my all time favorite color combinations and I LOVE the second picture of her!!

Here is Bitty Bethany is a Springy green and pink dress… (My Bitty Bethany doll couldn’t straighten her head and look straight out. It was one of my pet peeves about her.)

…and one more…

This next pink and green set was one I had fun making. It was for my Kaye Wiggs 11″ Millie doll. I used a camouflage pinwale corduroy and accented it with pink trim…and then gave her a little pink bear…

All of the dolls above are no longer with me… but I still have one little sweetie who still lives in my sewing room and she wanted to show you her pink and green dresses. I think Patsy Tonner looks exceptional in both of these sets!

…and last up… Patsy in a sweet pink and green dress, just like the fabric used for Riley in the first picture.

Well, I hope these dresses brightened your day just a little bit. It’s supposed to get up to 72 today, so I don’t need any dresses to help me!!!!

See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

  1. I miss Riley, but at least I have a nice wardrobe for her from when she was at the top of her popularity.

I especially like the camouflage outfit and Patsy’s last dress. It looks like a lovely light spring fabric. Speaking of spring, it’s supposed to snow here today. It should get up to 38 degrees, so not all of it will stick and temperatures will be higher for the rest of the week. Nevertheless, a I Dream of Jeanne Marie spring dress will be very cheering.

I loved the change purses you showed yesterday. It would be too bad to use most of them and damage that charming handwork. They would make a lovely collection — Cindy could make a lovely display of and for them.

Is this a chemo day? If it is, at least you’ll have good weather for it. Take care, and take care of George and your mom. Stay warm and well — we all love the sunshine you add to our days.

    1. Hi Marilyn,
Sometimes I miss Riley too, but at least I have Noel to fill her place. Noel isn’t as quite as small as Riley was, but she’s still pretty petite.

Snow? I’m glad I picked Springy colors for today’s post…you might need some cheering up by the end of the day…38 degrees? Yikes… it’s supposed to be 71 today but it’s raining right now.
Yes, today is a long chemo day…the benedryl he gets in his pre “cocktail”, as they call it, has knocked him out. He just can’t keep his eyes open when that one goes in…
Glad to have warmed up your day just a little bit! YOU stay warm, Miss Marilyn!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  2. What a cheery display of darling outfits, Jeanne! Since I’m close to you, we too are getting nice weather today, but tonight the storms come. I did notice that when I went to college in Cape, that spring came about two weeks earlier than in St. Louis. Trees in Branson are also in bloom more than here, but now the magnolias are in bloom, along with daffodils and plum trees. Bradford Pear trees are starting to open their buds, so spring is on the way for sure, and much too early!

I love that last dress! The fabric reminds me of the one I am using to make a dress for Betsy. I found the prettiest ribbon for trimming the hat, and the sweetest little roses to attach on the sweater. Your pictures give me inspiration, but your expertise makes me feel kind of, well, not up to standards with what you do. That dress and jacket on Bitty Bethany looks similar to what I am trying to make for Betsy. We’ll see if it comes to fruition. This week is pretty full for me.

Glad to see that you are once again able to comment, Marilyn.

    1. Hi Linda,
Well, when they said today’s high was supposed to be 71, I was thinking a nice sunny day, but so far all we have had is misting rain and clouds. The temp is 62 right now but it sure would be nice to see the sun before days end.
Don’t size your sewing up to mine…just do what you can and each time you do, you’ll get better at it. You know I’ll want to see pictures and I hope you’ll share your new dress with me…
I guess that coat pattern I bought will have to wait till next year as I’m totally ready to just sew Spring dtesses.
      Thanks Linda,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  3. So many pretty dresses!! If I had to pick a favorite, I think it would be the first one for Bitty Bethany. I just love the primary fabric and the darling little jacket with the embroidery. Overall, a delightful spring lineup of pink and green. You’re a little warmer than we are in mid Michigan but you just sent a little more spring our way. Hope you have a good day.
    Take care.

    1. Hi Charlotte,
I’m so glad you picked Bitty Beth any dress as your favorite. I really really loved that one. It was probably one of my top 3 for her out of all her dresses.
I’m glad I warmed you up there in Michigan with my Springy dresses! That was my hope!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  4. Maybe it’s my memory, but I’d don’t recall seeing most of these wonderful dresses. I just can’t believe the creativity it takes to come up with all of these variations. Who but Jeanne Marie would think of using camouflage corduroy with pink accents and have it turn out so amazing. Thanks again for the encouraging words yesterday. You continue to inspire. I’m glad Linda will be sewing too. Can’t wait to see her dress.

There is excitement here as I’ve heard from Magalie that she will soon be painting my doll. I’ll have to clear the decks to make some clothes for her. I’m having her painted with Riya’s coloring. Thanks again for getting me interested in dolls in general and Little Darlings in particular.

    1. Hi Susette,
I’m glad you are seeing some new dresses today…they aren’t really new , but if you haven’t seen them, they are new to you!

Yep, camouflage and pink…what wlse? I’m glad you liked it. My pictures are kind of dark but in person it was really pretty!

Oh Susette, when you get your Little Darling you are going to love her…and I DO mean that!!! I can’t wait to see what your doll will look like…
Thanks Susette…YOU inspire me to always try my best when I sew…
      Blessings, Jeanne

  5. I think my favorite is Bethany’s dress with the roses and dots and exactly matching flower trim on the bottom. Would be perfect on my LD Bessie Bell. Is that purchased trim? I don’t believe I’ve ever seen it.
Frost here again this morning. During the day it is nice if you are in the sun, but in the shade, very cold. Need to get out and start weeding, but has been just too cold for me. Nice excuse eh?
Can’t wait to see Susette’s new LD dolly. Mine came very quickly after notice from Magalie.

    1. Hi Joy,
I’m glad you enjoyed seeing Bitty Bethany in her dress. Yes, the trim was purchased trim and I have more if you would like some…

It’s going to be Spring soon, and I’m looking forward to it. I’m also looking forward to seeing Susette’s new Little Darling too!
I’ve seen quite a few LD’s by Magazine arriving lately…she’s really getting them out!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  6. Pink and green is one of my favorite color combinations also–right up there with red and black. All the dresses are pretty, but I think I like the Bitty Bethany ones best.
I’m hoping Linda will share a picture of her dress with us when she gets it finished. I’m sure her sewing will be fine. We are often our own worst critics. I also am hoping to see a picture of Suzette’s doll when she arrives. Magalie’s dolls are always beautiful.

    1. HI Carolyn,
Me too…on the pink and green being a favorite color combination…
Me too…on liking red and black together …
Me too… on hoping Linda shares her doll dress with us all….
Me too… can’t wait to see Susette’s doll when she arrives…
Me too… I totally agree that Magalie’s dolls are always beautiful…
      Blessings, Jeanne
