Patsy Tonner’s blue wool felt jacket…

Today I wasn’t quite as productive as yesterday… well, maybe I was…it’s just that I only have one thing to show you today.

My foot was very sore today and I had high hopes of trying to make it to our church’s hayride and Taste of America get together tonight, and even got dressed, but in the end my foot said I don’t think so! So I sat on the couch again and did a little hand stitching…I think I may add a little of the white fur to the ends of her sleeves too. I held a strip of the fur up to them and it looked pretty cute.

I got part of her dress done the other night, before I fell, so you can see what it’s going to look like…sort of…

George had responsibilities for the hayride tonight and Rebecca was still at her nutrition class, so I got out my fur and decided to go ahead and add it to the sleeves… I think it’s pretty cute. I also added a little beading at the neckline to make it look like a button. I’m trying to think of a really fun and Wintry name for this dress set…

…sorry, but that’s all I’ve got for today!

See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

I used to do that — get dressed to go to work when I was sick, and then realize that I couldn’t manage the bus ride, let alone work day. I’m sorry you didn’t get to go and I hope the weather was good for the people who could make it. You were concerned about that.
I think you said you could put your foot on the floor, just not put any weight on it. How is it today?
That outfit is going to be lovely — it looks like a beautiful day after a snowfall, when the sun comes out, the sky is blue, and everything else is white.

    1. Hi Marilyn,
I can put a little bit of weight on the inside part of my foot, but not flat on the floor.
The weather held off for the hayride and George said they only got a light misting of rain one time. That’s pretty good considering on Tuesday there was a 90% chance of rain, Wednesday there was a 60% chance and yesterday morning there was a 50% chance. It’s just so much work to go to setting it all up for the rain to spoil everything.
Patsy is wanting to know when I’m going to get the bottom of her dress added on…I haven’t answered her yet…?
      Thanks so much Marilyn,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  2. Glad to hear you are taking it easy Jeanne while you heal and finding things to do while you rest. I am sure you will be back to full speed in no time.
    God Bless

    1. Thanks so much for your encouraging words Marsha.
I couldn’t make it to church this morning, but I managed to sit in my computer chair and use a broom to sweep my living room and kitchen floors. I loaded the dishwasher sitting down and ran some water for what had to be hand washed. Rebecca did those for me. I’m back on the couch again…trying to figure out what I can do next…
      Thanks Marsha,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  3. I totally understand about feeling like you didn’t get much accomplished due to a fall. That is me today, and so I am also going to be doing handwork and not moving around much. Hope we both get to feeling back to our normal selves sooner rather than later. I enjoy reading your blog and LOVE to watch your projects come to life. Dolly Hugs!

    1. Hi Deb,
So you’ve had a fall too? Sorry for that…it’s no fun is it?
I have a stack of books that I have read parts of each, pressure cooker recipes I’m looking through, a few magazines, but just miss my sewing. It’s too bad I can’t clean my house during this down time….if I can’t sew, that’s what I’d like to do…
Oh well, someday we will both be back to normal and this will just be a memory.
      Blessings, Jeanne

Jeanne, I have no doubt that sitting on the sofa trying to do what you can to stay busy is a far cry from your normal routine. We all know you are a whirl-wind of productive energy. This miscue with your foot is hard both physically and emotionally. I understand this and it is a difficult adjustment. I will continue to pray for you as you go forward with each day to give you healing for your foot and joy for your spirit!

    {just loving Miss Patsy’s dress and jacket} !!!!!!

    1. Hi Jeannie,
Everyone needs some down time but when it’s forced upon you and you have no idea how long it will take until you are back up and running again, that’s what’s hard for me…I enjoy looking at magazines and catching up on my favorite blogs and going through recipes, and reading, but I guess I love sewing and creating more!
I’m glad you like Patsy’s new dress so far. I think it will be cute when I get it all done…
      Thanks so much Jeannie,
      Blessings, Jeanne

    1. Hi joy,
Thank you for your kind comments on Patsy’s dress set so far. I hope I can bring it to completion soon…the way I envision it in my head.
      Blessings, Jeanne

  5. Hello, Jeanne. Patsy looks like a little snow princess. Her jacket is so pretty with the clear beads and snowflakes. Maybe tomorrow you’ll be able to use the foot pedal on your sewing machine and finish her dress for her. Have you tried using your left foot? It might work. Your machine must have a low speed. My mom’s machine from the 1950s had a knee lever. That would’ve worked great for you right now.
That’s good start that you can put weight on the inside of your foot.
Enjoy your days of rest, you will be up and busy, busy, busy before you know it!

    1. Hi Cindy,
Oooooh, I like the name “Snow Princess” and might just use that. It sounds wintery and pretty.
I might have to try something to get my Christmas dresses in the works… I guess I could just start by picking out each girls fabric…maybe that would put me a little bit ahead of the game…I might even work on getting some of them cut out.
      Thanks Cindy,
      Blessings, Jeanne

I think you said a couple of people had unsubscribed now that the year is getting busier — but it seems to me that you are getting more and more mail. There’s something abut a big sudden change in life that makes a lot of us want to learn from it — so here you go, teaching again.
I did love Charlotte’s idea for Halloween — offering decorated pencils as well as candy, and making it a choice, so it’s not a case of “you can’t have candy, so you can have this.” And the pencils keep. Kids do love things they can use. I was trying to think of something that wasn’t a boy thing or a girl thing — Halloween pencils are it.
I have friends — a family of four, of which two are in college so they are always short on candy money but long on energy using projects –to whom my left over candy and all those unneeded calories are going by mail tomorrow.

    1. Thanks Marilyn,
I’m not really worried that I’ve lost a few subscribers, but I won’t lie…it does hurt just a little bit to think that someone doesn’t care for what’s being presented from me. Maybe they are just too busy… some have mentioned they just don’t need any more emails… The more subscribers I get, the busier it does make me… I don’t know when or if I’ll ever stop answering your comments. It seems to me if you take the time to comment about something I’ve said, I should at least acknowledge you by responding back, but lots of bloggers don’t…
I’m glad you found a solution to the extra candy you wound up with… the ones who get it will be thrilled!
      Thanks for your thoughts, Marilyn,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  7. A lovely start to Patsy’s outfit. Hope you will feel satisfied at the end of the day that you met the goals or tasks you decided to accomplish. Sweeping the floors sounds pretty hard with a bum foot. No children for us in over ten years. it has been a long time since we lived in a home that had the doorbell ring on halloween. Glad that Rebecca is home.

    1. HI Jan,
I’m hoping to get back to Patsy’s outfit as soon as I possibly can. I’m trying to think of things I can do that will put me ahead of the game, that aren’t necessarily sewing…
I guess I wasn’t the only one trick or treater-less last night.
      Blessings, Jeanne

  8. Glad you are somewhat better…sweeping the floors on your computer chair…now that has to take a prize!
Snow Princess would be a perfect name…it’s not really Christmas but wintery so that name really fits!

    1. HI Kathie,
I’m glad no one saw me sweeping that way… they’d say,” what in the world?”
I do like Snow Princess…now if I can make the rest of the dress just as ” princess-y!”
      Thanks Kathie,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  9. I love Patsy’s dress and jacket with the snowflakes and beads..so pretty! It reminds of the movie Frozen, that I have watched with my grandson many times, so snow princess is a perfect name. Hope you feel better soon!

    1. HI Regina,
I’m pretty set on Snow Princess…in fact, I just wrote it down so I won’t forget it.
I’m glad you like the way it’s turning out.
      Thanks so much Regina,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  10. Oh gosh, that’s a cute jacket. I’m glad you put the little fur accent. I’m sorry your foot is so sore, but keep taking it easy, and you’ll be good as new before you know it. I was going to try and help you think of a good name for the new outfit but I’m not coming up with much. All I could think of was “Winter Wonderland “. I’ll let you know if I can come up with anything else.

    1. Thanks for your thoughts Carolyn,
I’m thinking that Snow Princess is going to be the name. I liked it the moment Cindy mentioned it. I’ll have to create a little “winter wonderland” scene to match the dress though.
Thanks and many blessings to you,
      ~ Jeanne

  11. Hello, Jeanne! We are now getting ready for the long trip back home! We had a wonderful time with our son and his family, but now are more than ready for home! No dolls in their home at all!!

I just LOVE that jacket with the beads , snowflakes and fur! Snow Princess is a perfect name! Sorry for such a short post, but I have to get packing now!

Hang in there Jeanne, you will be back to normal before you know it!

    1. Thanks Linda,
I hope you have a safe trip home… back to your dolls!!!
I’m glad you like Patsy’s jacket so far. I can’t wait to get it finished… I’m trying to be patient… really, I am!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  12. As soon as I saw Cindy’s “snow princess,” I thought, “That’s it!” and then you liked it, and then one person after another agreed. What’s Elizabeth’s new gown called?
Someday you should give us a list of all your favorite names for your auctions.

    1. Thanks Marilyn,
I did like Snow Princess as soon as Cindy mentioned it. It just seemed perfect to me.
I will share some of my favorite names sometime.
      Thanks for the idea…
      Blessings, Jeanne
