One pink & white fabric… Five different looks…

I don’t remember where I got this pink and white fabric but I’ve had it for years. I also have it in purple and white and blue and white. My pink and white stash is dwindling down and I’ll probably cry when I’m working on my last dress from it. It’s a very sheer fabric, almost like a gauze, or even like a kleenex, and it sews up wonderfully… I mean WONDERFULLY! Since Valentine’s Day is just around the corner…I know, don’t remind me… I thought I’d show you five different looks I’ve created from the pink and white.

Up first is tiny little Riley again… in a fun nightgown and slippers set. I made those tiny little slippers… (it was “preparing” me for Ten Ping’s shoes! :o)

My next little girl is Patsy Tonner, showing you how she looks in her pretty dress. It’s pretty “Valentine-ish” don’t you think?

Here’s Riley again, in a dress this time. I loved this one on her…

…and a really close up of the bodice.

Next up is Lian in her fancy dress, that I think was called “Precious in Pink.” It’s the dress that I chose at one time to be my “All-Time-Favorite- Dress-if-you-twisted-my-arm-behind-my-back-and-made-me-choose-one… It still might be my favorite…

…and last up is my sweet Isabelle in her dress made from this fabric. I also made her little dolly and the dress she’s wearing. It was a fun set to make…and then do a photo shoot…

I hope you enjoyed this pink and white fashion show… seeing them all together brings back a rush of memories for me.

See you tomorrow,

  1. Oh, so pretty in pink—–ALL of them! I love the way you do each outfit just perfectly, just the right amount of embellishments, ruffles, ribbons, etc.! You also capture each doll’s personality in her outfits. You have such talent, Jeanne!

    1. Thank you Linda,
It’s even fun for me to see the different ways I’ve made the dresses from the same fabric. I’ll be really sad to see the end of this pink fabric…
      Thanks so much,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  2. The girls all, including tiny dolly, look beautiful. Each outfit sports something fresh and interesting. What did you use for Lian’s bodice? I’ve never seen anything like it. Did you make the eyelet threaded piece down the front? Amazing.

    1. HI Joy,
Thank you for your sweet comments on my girls dresses. Lian’s dress front is an applique that I had. It’s all one piece and is just sewn on. It’s sweet isn’t it?
      Thanks,
      Blessings, Jeanne

    1. HI Jevne,
Yes, I loved Riley’s dress front too. It was probably the fanciest one I ever made her…she looked so sweet in it…
      Thank you Jevne,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  3. Now, this is one fabric where I would have bought the entire bolt! Another favorite style of yours for me is the ruffle-y one, on the neckline and/or skirt, so I agree with you as to “Precious in Pink” being a favorite-of-all-time dress. But, … all of your dresses here are the sweetest! I love them all!

    1. HI Cindy,
Yes, I should have bought the whole bolt of this fabric… I think I probably bought 3 yards of each color. :o( It will be gone one of these days and will be a sad day when that happens.
I got caught up on your blog posts this morning while I was in bed, (using my ipad) but haven’t left any comments yet… I will… I loved the post about Penny’s wigs… I think I liked the little curly one best, but I’m sort of strange… she just looked adorable…and her little dress set is to die for!
      Thank you Cindy,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  4. These dresses are lovely using the delicate fabric in inventive ways. I wondered about the eyelets too.

    1. Thank you Jan,
The dress that Lian has on with pink lace up front is just an applique that I found. It’s just hand stitched on and was the perfect size to fit on the front of her dress.
Thanks so much for your kind comments on my dresses.
      Blessings, Jeanne

  5. It is amazing how one piece of fabric can take on so many different looks. I love the bodice on Riley’s dress with the little sweet peas. They’re one of my favorite flowers along with a host of cottage ones especially if they’re blue.
However did you make Isabelle’s little dolly? She is so cute. That is one thing that PC/AG use to have, the doll’s doll. My daughter has Kirsten’s Sari and I inherited Samantha’s porcelain doll when she gave me her.

Did you see the article over on Plaything about the Australian girls who have 64 PC/AG”S and clothing and accessories ? They started collecting only in 2013!!
It’s funny I should have seen that yesterday when a family member who obviously thinks adult doll collectors are weird commented this past weekend when she saw my five that Christmas 2014 I only had two. She knows my daughter collected as a child and still has them. Wonder what she would think if I said that two of them have a collection of clothing and accessories? Or that I am on boards and a blog that discusses dolls with other adults? Better keep all that to myself. 🙂

    1. Thank you Laura,
I appreciate your sweet thoughts about my doll dresses.
Isabelle’s little doll is made from air clay and placed in molds to get the pieces and then you have to put the doll together with pipe cleaners. They are very labor intensive to make and I’ve only made a few. Then you have to paint their faces. The dolls always add so much to the dresses, I think.
I did see the article on AGPT about the girls with the 64 American Girl dolls. Wow!
Yeah…just keep the dolly stuff to yourself when you pretty much know the reaction you’ll get if you spill the beans about your dolls. I’m getting better about telling certain “someone’s” about my dolls… and I’m not even a collector…just a dolly dress maker. :o)
      Thanks Laura,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  6. How did you make the little doll…she is precious! You have amazing talents..Rebecca also..I’ve gone crazy over her doll jewelry!

    1. HI Jane,
The little dolly is made from Hearty Air Clay and press molds from Dianna Effner. It’s pretty tedious to make them… maybe I’ll show a few shots of the making of them in tomorrow’s post… I think I’ve done a post on them before, but I’ll have to check…
Thanks so much Jane, they are little sweeties aren’t they?
      Blessings, Jeanne

  7. What sweet sweet little pink dresses! Isabelle’s little doll is so cute too. There is something about pretty pink prints that’s so complimentary to little girls. Love the detail on these outfits. Such beautiful sewing and creativity.
    Have a great day, Jeanne.

    1. Thank you Paula,
I’m a pink person too.. not so much for me, but definitely for my dolls. I probably gravitate toward pink colors more than any other.
Thanks so much for your kind compliments, Paula,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  8. Oh My! I couldn’t pick just one they all are wonderful. I love pink for the little dolls like my 8″Kishes. Giving me some ideas.

    1. HI Sylvia,
Just what I like to do, inspire my readers… I hope you come up with something cute for your Kishes.
      Blessings, Jeanne

  9. I had to scroll up halfway through to make sure they were all made using the same print because they all look so different depending on the gathering and appliques. Love the applique crisscross piece. Like Laura ad Joy, I couldn’t figure that out without it being one piece. Lian is my favorite, but they are all beautiful. There is not a single Blog that you’ve done that I would miss. Thanks!

    1. Why thank you Susette,
You are so sweet to say the things you did… I’m so happy that you enjoy reading my ramblings each day… that makes me smile!
So you like Lian best… I’m pretty partial to her too… She’s one of my dolls that if there was ever a fire, I’d yell, “Get Lian!”
Thanks for your nice compliments on my doll dresses…
      Blessings, Jeanne

  10. I also love this fabric, that is why I chose it for you to make Patsy’s dress. : ) It is even prettier than the photo shows. I love all of the dresses made with this fabric! Lian’s dress has always been a favorite for me.

    1. Thank you Regina,
I’m so happy everyone liked seeing the same fabric, but used 5 different ways… It’s fun when you can get so many looks from one fabric. I’ll be so sad when it’s all gone.
      Thanks Regina,
      Blessings, Jeanne

    1. HI C,
Thanks for reading some back posts of mine. I hope you are enjoying them. The little doll is made from Air Clay and put in plaster molds. They are very tedious to make so I’ve only completed about 4.
      I appreciate your comments,
      Blessings, Jeanne
