One of my biggest surprises…

Did you ever list something on Ebay and wait anxiously till the end, only to have it be a “no sale?”
That’s always a bummer and a real test of faith… do you list it again and hope someone will buy it this time…do you redo it somehow and make it more appealing…do you reduce the price and hope to make at least something for the time you have in it? Well, I have a story to share with you and hope it inspires you to keep on selling… perseverance really does pay off most times.

I had a doll outfit that I had made and listed on Ebay for a low starting price of $24.99. It was a 7 day listing and that week dragged on without a single bid and very few hits… I was almost dreading the end of the auction, as that “no sale” can really sting….your pride! It happened just as I hoped it wouldn’t… it was unwanted and ended up as a no sale. I decided there was nothing I could do with a doll outfit since I don’t dress my dolls, but just sew for them… so I listed it again with a starting bid of $9.99. Well, it sat there for a few days and then it got noticed by a few people as I did get a few bids… and by the last day of the auction it had jumped to my original starting price of $24.99. I had settled in my mind, that it was just an unwanted outfit, and $24.99 was better than ZERO.

I’m sure I’m just like all of you who have auctions ending… you settle yourself in and get ready to see in those last few minutes what will happen. I was ready to collect my $24.99 and move on to the next outfit… certainly not making this style again. Well, those last few minutes ticked down, still $24.99 and in the last 5 seconds it jumped to $104.99!!! WHAT??? That’s what I kept saying… What??? Apparently the lady who won it had not seen it the week before and could have snagged it for the low low price of $24.99…and there was C-E-R-T-A-I-N-L-Y no way I was going to tell her!

I’ve been selling my doll clothing on Ebay since 2006 and you just never know what might happen! Don’t you just LOVE a good ending? Me too!

See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

  1. Thanks Sissy,
It was a nightmare that first week, but the second week was P-R-E-T-T-Y sweet!
