ONE doggie birthday, TWO dolly wigs, THREE webinars & FOUR jars of pickles

I’ve been busy and I wish I had more to show you… but these pictures will have to do. We’ve had something every single day of this week and we aren’t even done yet.

ONE doggie birthday… Yesterday was Reuben’s 2nd birthday. My hubby didn’t realize it when we got Reuben, but he was born on the exact same day that our dear Scruffy died. Isn’t that unbelievable? When my hubby discovered that on his registration papers, he was all teary eyed and told me he just knew Reuben was the one he was supposed to have. He did get a few extra treats yesterday…

If you click on any picture, it will enlarge.

Here was his first day with us…

I didn’t think he was EVER going to leave the toilet paper alone…

One of our messes after a doggie haircut…

TWO doll wigs… both of Noel’s wigs came in the mail yesterday. I am pleased with them both, although I almost wish I had bought the 5/6 size in the red one…it’s a LOT of hair for such a little face, but I’m not even sure a size 5/6 would fit her head… I think it might. This is a size 6/7 from JuJu’s Dolly Mall. It’s pretty cute on her though and will probably look better with her new blue hat.

The second wig I bought was just one of those sausage wigs that are terribly out of style, if you ask me. I wanted a brown one to match Isabelle’s dark hair when she does a sister set with her. This wig isn’t quite as dark as Isabelle’s but it will have to do.

I did a little styling on it and made it look a little more fashionable! She’s pretty sweet looking in it.

THREE Webinars…I don’t have any pictures to show of this, but Sarah, my webmaster for my blog, sent me some information about free webinars that had to do with businesses and crafters. I have watched 3 really good ones and have learned a few things that I need to start working on in my business and especially my Etsy shop…poor thing…it’s been so neglected. I’ve taken 3 pages of notes and need to put some of the things into action!

FOUR jars of pickles…Today is actually my hubby’s birthday and he wanted pickles! Can you believe that? Pickles! He wanted the ONES I had made before… “Linda’s Pickes” to be exact. It isn’t necessarily Linda’s recipe, as you can find them on Pinterest and the web, but Linda sent the recipe to me, so I call them Linda’s pickles. I made 4 jars for him…(doubled the recipe) and it takes 24 hours for them to “set” so they’ll be ready today for his birthday! What a thing to ask for on your 59th birthday…

They are SO good and so easy to make… I thought I better share that blog post again where I tell you how to make the pickles. You can find the post from June 17, 2016, below…

Pickles for Pop

Well, that was my day. I hope you accomplished more than I did.

See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

  1. What fun to read your “day in the life of Jeanne Marie”! I know this is a doll blog, but it is always fun to see what “else” is going on too, Jeanne! Really, you make the most of your time and you make it so fun for us to read!

A big “Happy Birthday” to sweet little Rueben! I guess now that he is in his “terrible two’s” you will be having as much “fun” as ever with him! Let’s hope he has calmed down since the time he came to live with you. He’s just the cutest little dog!

The wigs are too cute! I can’t get over how much alike Noel and Janie look wearing the red wigs. They really do look like sisters! Oh, I do like the brown wig too, just that it will look good on the more traditional styles of dresses, that you know how to do best of all !

And finally , a big “Happy Birthday” to your wonderful hubby, George! Here’s to many years of good health and happiness! Pickles? Now that’s a first for me, to hear someone wants pickles for their birthday!! Maybe a pretty bow tied around the jars would make them extra festive??!!

    1. Hi Linda,
I’m glad you enjoyed my daily “goings on” yesterday. Some days there just isn’t any dolly time.
We are going out tonight with the kids so no pickles for dinner…just maybe a snack layer on…
      Thanks Linda,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  2. You accomplished a bunch of things today! Thank you for sharing your day with us. I very much enjoyed it.
Happy Birthday to your delightful little Reuben. I think George is absolutely right that he was meant to be with you. It can’t be all coincidence that Reuben’s birthday matches up with Scruffy’s passing.
Both the wigs look darling. The exact shades of brown won’t matter in the least. My daughters are both brunettes but not the exact same shade.
Regarding your business, I was just wondering, do you have a Facebook page? I’ve hunted all over on Facebook and couldn’t find one for you. If you don’t, it might be something to think about. It might be real fun for your fans to be able to talk back and forth which just isn’t as easy here on your blog. I’m just sort of thinking out loud. Feel free to ignore me.
Pickles! I love pickles too especially the homemade ones. I completely understand why George (Hello George! Happy Birthday!!!) would want them as a birthday present. I’m definitely going to check out the recipe.
Hope you have a great day!
    Take care.

    1. Hi Charlotte,
I hope you give the pickles a try…they really are hood and if enough people make them I’M SURE Spring will get here sooner!
Thanks so much for your sweet thoughts!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  3. Linda’s right — the Day in the Life blogs are definitely some of my favorites too. I don’t have any non-favorites.

I don’t know if George has lost any of his sense of taste. I didn’t lose much, but sometimes something will suddenly taste so good that I wonder if I didn’t lose some and it’s coming back. Those pickles look like they’d taste cool and fresh, perfect for an early spring taste and nice if your taste buds want something special. Tell George Happy Birthday from me too.

When I saw the brown wig, I thought, “Don’t worry, you’ll restyle it” and in the next picture you already had. I’ll bet it’s not the last time either. The two red heads are very cute together as they wait for their skirts. Today you are busy, but the girls will have their skirts and petticoats soon.

Have a lovely birthday. You can show us what you made for dinner tomorrow.

    1. Hi Marilyn,
It’s nice to know that even my non-dolly posts are some of your favorites…
Not all the time, but sometimes he has a metallic taste in his mouth. The pickles DO wake up your taste buds…in a really good way!
Yes, today has started out pretty busy alteady…so there might not be much time for sewing…
      Thanks Marilyn,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  4. I like Noel in the darker wig. Her blue eyes really stand out. She also looks nice in her new red bob. You are so good with dolly hair. Me, not at all. It is so hard for me to see a wig and then decide how it might look on a doll.
I’m actually trying to sew something. Been awhile. Awful pattern for Ellowyne. But, I’m trying. We’ll see if I can get three layers of sleeve sewn in. Not fun.
Yummy pickles! A perfect birthday treat.
Hope George has a wonderful birthday and a belated one to Reuben too.

    1. Hi Joy,
I really like Noel in the little brown wig too. I thought she’d look pretty girly on it.
I hope you get your dress finished for Ellowyne. Those tiny sleeves can sometimes cause you fits! Maybe it will sew in like a dream…let’s hope so.
      Thanks Joy,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  5. The ladies above always say it for me before I get to comment here on the West Coast and say it better than I would. I second all of them. Thanks for the sock tutorial yesterday. So nice to hear about your day; always interesting and always learn something new from you. I’m going to try the pickle recipe. My Mother used to make them. Happy Birthday to George and Reuben.

    1. Hi Susette,
Yesterday Walmart may have had a run on socks and today the grocery stores might have a run on cucumbets! All because of my little ole blog!
      Thanks Susette,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  6. Good morning!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY to both George and little Reuben!! Two special guys!!

It is fun to hear about what you’re up to on the home front and how you create your sewing projects and sharing the recipes and your fun personal projects. It’s like all us girls having tea/coffee together, only long distance!! Thank you Jeanne for your fun blogs.

I love the wigs for Noel and she looks so cute in both. Boy that red hair is gorgeous. Can’t wait to see what the outfits will look like.
    Have a good day everyone!

    1. Hi Paula,
Thanks for the birthday wishes for my 2 guys…someone just texted me and is bringing out a German Chocolate cake for him. He will be thrilled…me too.
My camera makes the red wig just a little bit brighter than it actually is. They really do look like sisters now.
      Thank you Paula,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  7. Rueben was so cute and I bet he’s a lot of fun. Hope he had a super 2nd. I remember your comment about the dates being the same. God certainly knew the puppy meant for you.
The wigs are very cute. Now Janie and Noel really do look like sisters. I’ll enjoy seeing their finished dresses. I was thinking it might be cute to put a border of the lace you used at the waist aroud the hem of each skirt, but obviously going the other direction. The restyled wig is the way my Caroline wears her hair, in about eight or nine curls across the back, but, of course, she has no bangs. Except for Samantha and Kirsten I prefer the bang-less PC/AG’s because they’re more versatile IMO.
I wish George a very blessed birthday, please tell him so. I also pray for health and healing in the year ahead. The pickles look good. My grandfather was a real pickle person. He like a lot of the pickled/ fermented foods such as pickles, pickled beets, pickled herring, and sauerkraut. Obviously the German heritage. When I would be there and we had sandwiches for lunch, if my grandmother forgot he would say, “Could I please have a little pickle with this?’
Hope you have a wonderful evening out.

    1. HI Laura,
Reuben sure has filled the void for dear Scruff… the “boys” do have a lot of fun together…
I like the “bangless” wigs myself too… they truly are more versatile… I did pull part of the bangs over to the sides, to make them a little more wispy..
My husband is a German food lover through and through, so the pickles are a big hit with him. We just had some for lunch and they were terrific! THANK YOU LINDA for sharing that recipe with me… I love it!
      Blessings, Jeanne

      1. You’re welcome dear Jeanne! So happy to make you and George happy! Now we’re all happy!

  8. Happy Birthday to both your boys, Jeanne! I’m hoping you can answer a question on the recipe for me. How many cucumbers make 6 cups? Likewise for the green pepper and onion? I’d love to try them. My mom used to make a side dish of thin sliced peeled cukes with just the white vinegar and sugar, salt and pepper, which she had set overnight in the fridge, too. I loved them. I’ve tried to duplicate them and can’t get the sugar vinegar mix right. Looking at these, I’ll bet I didn’t use enough sugar. 🙂 Thanks! Hope you are having a good day!!

    1. Hi Ali,
I used 6 long cucumbers and 2 peppers for mine…so I bet you could get by with 3 cucumbers and for sure one large green pepper. You can probably tell on the onion how much it would cut up to be.
We used to have that same cukes in vinegar sugar water too! Loved it and still do. Yeah, you gotta get it sweet enough or the sour takes over…
      I hope you give them a try…
      Blessings, Jeanne

  9. Oh, how fun to see the composition of your day laid out in “”Twelve Days of Christmas” fashion, Jeanne! I, too, love a glimpse into “A Day in the Life of Jeanne Marie,” sewing or no! From Linda’s doll house, to Laura’s historical knowledge, to Susette’s museum trip, to Joy’s “Christmas Sweater” display, to Marilyn’s cute pix of Anna, reading your blog really is like a “Girls Day Out,” as Paula says!

ONE: Belated birthday wishes to playful little Reuben! Pets show us such unconditional love, and I’m sure God had a plan when He led you to Reuben.

TWO: LOVE the new wigs; they are SO cute! What sweet little sisters your girls will make in their matching blue outfits with the adorable straw hats.

THREE: Good for you, Jeanne, for finding time to watch the Webinars and make notes to improve your business. May God grant you the knowledge and wisdom you need to continue your success as an entrepreneur.

FOUR: What a tasty birthday present “Linda’s Pickles” will be for George! Wishing him all good things on his birthday, and may God richly bless him with health and happiness in the year ahead. Enjoy your evening out with kids!

FIVE??? My new Little Darling has arrived! I hope to share pix of Elisabella Jayne with you soon!

    1. HI Anne,
I”m so glad you enjoy every aspect of my blog posts… some days there is no time for sewing, so I just try to think of what else happened in my day that might be of interest to others. I’m glad it works for you!
OH my goodness,, skip all the other comments… Are you thrilled with Elizabella Jayne? I’m sure you are! I can’t wait to see pics of her. Everyone’s getting new dolls around here. It’s pretty exciting to say the least!
Thanks for all your sweet thoughts about my life and my blog. I truly appreciate them.
Well, I hate to run, but I have to…
      Blessings, Jeanne

    2. Can’t wait to see Elizabella Jayne! I should be getting a Mini Pal Maru boy, Chad sometime in April. He is about the same size as the LD’s and also by Effner. Lots of fun are these dollies.
