Noel and Ten Ping in their sweet pink dresses…

I got ready to take my pictures of the girls in their dresses, and my camera wouldn’t work…either it wasn’t on the charger right and not charged up or the battery has conked out again… It might be time for a new camera… this is getting old. So I had to use my phone for these pictures. These dresses are kind of turning out like my last dress for Rebecca; the turquoise one. I couldn’t seem to capture the color of the beautiful fabric. The same is happening again. This is the daintiest, sweetest fabric you can imagine and it just sort of looks so so in my pictures.

I’m not finished yet, but I’ve made some progress since yesterday. I turned on a light for these pictures too, and even though the color is still washed out they do look better than yesterday’s pictures. Ten Ping wanted to wear her original wig with this dress, so I let her. I still have a few things left to do, but I think they are looking pretty cute on the girls… do you?

How about a little fashion show?

Well, this was a short post, but I hope it was sweet enough to hold you all day long! :o)

See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

  1. Very sweet, Jeanne. You’ve captured beauty once again in these Springy dresses for your cute dolls. It’s always a pleasure to see your work.

    Blessings.

    1. Thank you Becky!
You are always so sweet in the words you choose when you leave a comment!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  2. Tipped the screen again this morning and the dresses look great! I really like your use of the checked piping. The dolls are cute together.

    1. HI Susette,
I’m hoping against all hope that I can get something else done on these dresses today… I’m trying to decided pantalettes or a slip???? I’m not even sure I have enough for the pantalettes, but maybe…
      Thanks so much,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  3. Very pretty indeed! As always, you do a great job on the accents. The piping and lace truly make the dresses special. I love the pale soft fabric color with Noel’s and Ten Ping’s dark hair.
Hope you have a good day.
    Take care.

    1. HI Charlotte,
If you like the colors you’re seeing on the screen, I wish you could see it in person. It’s so much prettier… The girls do look good in the dark wigs with this light fabric!
      Thank you,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  4. Very cute duo. I like the checked bias accent. Will they have hats or ribbons? Oh just thought, they could have headbands from the checked fabric. I can just see the girls out running across your green lawn. “You can’t catch me!”
Camera shopping can be fun! 🙂
    Have a wonderful day.

    1. HI Joy,
I guess I have to decide if it will be tiny hats, hair bows, or pantalettes… I need to figure out which is the best use of my fabric I have left… not much, I might add. ..
Well, if they were running in the yard today, they’d be all wet…it has been pouring all day long and doesn’t show any signs of stopping!
I took the battery out of my camera and put it back in and it seems to come on now… just needs to charge up again… but YES…. camera shopping can be fun! :o)
      Thanks Joy,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  5. Hi Jeanne. I’m afraid I have been absent from blog reading for some time now. I have just been too busy with work and family and yard work to have much free time. I will have to go backwards through your blog and see what all I might have missed! The dresses will be really cute in the soft colored fabric with the checked trim and pink-tipped lace.
I do need to go to the post office today. I have a package waiting, and I think it is the LD’s I ordered from Magalie Dawson. I had an email from her Monday that they were being shipped.
I spent a few weekends prior to Easter helping my mom sort through some things she had stored away, and I ended up bringing some of my childhood dolls home with me. Between these vintage girls and the two new LD’s I will have plenty of fun sewing to do!

    1. HI Carolyn,
Welcome back… I do hope you find time to read some past posts… it’s been busy around here too and I know how life can sometimes get in the way!
Oh my, if I knew my LD’s were at the post office, I probably would have slept in my clothes and been at the post office as soon as the lights went on! Do share pictures with me when you can… we’d love to gloat over your new dolls! …and your old ones too!
      Thanks so much,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  6. Amazing how often your tiny checked biased accents make a huge positive difference on an outfit. Once again, you’ve used the tiny check pattern to great advantage. Checked headbands would be cute, as Joy said, or the sort of bonnet that’s a flat piece with a ruffle, like the one on the purple and white dress that shows up at the bottom of my screen but may be on the side of other screens. Between the pink flowers and the green checks, a bonnet like that might be cute. Or — you probably have something in mind and have made it by now.
You need one picture that gives us an idea of how small the dolls are — a picture that includes a hand or a ruler or an iron — something that says, “These are truly tiny dolls and tiny dresses.”
Remember comic books about a girl named Mary Jane who could become as small as a mouse? Thinking of Noel and Ten Ping reminded me of that. Your lawn would be close to a jungle for them.

    1. HI Marilyn,
I’ve always loved how tiny checked fabrics can make such a difference in accenting a dress. I’m trying to decide on hair bows, a tiny bonnet or pantalettes… I only have a tiny scrap of fabric left….
I need to put the girls next to the legs of an American Girl doll. They are pretty tiny and I forget when looking at the pictures, it’s not easy to tell how big or little they really are. I’ll do something if it’s nothing more than putting them next to a pencil.
I had to look up Mary Jane to remember her and how little she was… yes, my girls are that little too! :o)
      Thanks Marilyn,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  7. How delicate, dainty, and darling your little girls look in this sweet, soft pink print, Jeanne! The vintage pink-tipped lace is perfect at the hems, and I love the use of your bias-check trim at the waist. Your progress will make perfect, but your mini-fashion show was just delightful as is! Be careful, or those two little girls might run barefoot through your lush and lovely green lawn! ;0) Blessings for your weekend, Jeanne!

    1. HI Anne,
I was just telling someone up above, they won’t be running through the yard today… in bare feet, as it’s pouring down rain today and they would be soaked! This is sure going to make that grass grow, but it’s good for our tomatoes and my new flowers…
      Thank you Anne,
I hope you have a wonderful weekend too!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  8. Amazing how piping just sets the dresses off. The teeny check is perfect…maybe you could make pantalettes out of the check….or is it just trim and not yardage? You’ve done remarkably well getting both dresses from one fat quarter! Good luck with the accessories.

    1. Hi Kathie,
Thank you for your sweet compliments on rhe girls dresses. It really is amazing to get 2 doll dresses from one fat quarter. I managed to get 2 pairs of pantalettes and now I’m hoping to have 2 scraps big enough for a hair bow apiece…not sure I do…
      Thanks Kathie,
      Blessings, Jeanne

Hi Jeanne, These are such sweet dresses, and I like especially how that fabric enhances Ten Ping’s coloring. I do have a Ten Ping (you enabler, you!! LOL), as well as five LDs, so even though I make most of my dolls’ clothes myself, I am thinking this might be a set I should bid on, especially since my poor Ten Ping still doesn’t have any more clothes than what she came in! I keep meaning to sew something for her, but haven’t even looked to see if patterns are available yet. It’s been busy around here–an emergency with one grandson, then I lost one of my dearest friends following two weeks in the hospital and multiple strokes. Now I have knee surgery (relatively minor) coming up next. Wed.

I thought retirement years were supposed to be quiet and dull!! LOL

    1. Hi Charlotte,
I’m glad you like Ten Ping’s dress so much…wait till you see the next pictures of her in the rest of the outfit…she is adorable now…it just might be my favorite!
It sounds like life has been keeping you busy. I’m so sorry about your grandson and especially your friend.
I know a thing or two about knee surgeries…been through quite a few with my hubby and the his double knee replacement at the same time!
I will keep you in my prayers next week.
      Thanks Charlotte,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  10. I finally made it to comment, Jeanne! i did comment earlier this morning, but then when I wanted to post my comments, they just would not go through, and I had to get going—babysitting today! Well, I tell you, I played hide and seek just about all day and I am completely worn out big time! Yes, it was a dreary day outside today, and chilly to boot!

Well, I just love those two darling dresses! I love the gingham trimmed waistlines, and the pretty lace you have trimmed the skirts with. That’s really all you need for those tiny dolls. Too much on a dress for them is overwhelming I think, but a little flower at the waist might look cute. Ooh, pantalettes for them too? I can see them outside playing together running around with little pinwheels!

    1. Hi Linda,
Hide and seek all day long can certainly wear you out! I’m sure you are in bed by now. Poor baby!!!
Wait till you see how the dresses became even cuter than they already are…I love both of them…somehow I managed to make 2 pairs of pantalettes from the meager scraps I had left.
I don’t even know if I have enough to make 2 hair bows now.
We went out with some friends tonight and when we came out it was really cool! What happened to our nice weather?
      Blessings, Jeanne
