No Shoes, No Book Bag, No Class…

I can’t say I accomplished much today… I was sort of tired. I stayed up till after 2:00 a.m. this morning getting my blog post ready for Thursday, and then when I finally did get to bed, I couldn’t quit thinking about the CPR class. The last time I looked at the clock it was 4:46! UGH!!!

I worked on Felicity’s belt and got a straw hat ready to decorate but I’m still not all the way finished with her “pieces” yet, so I’ll hold off showing you another “partial” reveal until I’m all finished. I think her dress is going to be P-R-E-T-T-Y, if I do say so myself!

Then I turned my attention to Ten Ping’s black Mary Jane shoes that I wanted to make out of the new black leather like fabric that I got on my getaway. Well, how about 5 more tries… 3 more pattern tweaks and still NO shoes mastered…The hardest part is getting the fit exactly right on her tiny foot and attaching the sole of the shoe. I’m thinking maybe if I had a mold of her foot, it would be easier to fit the shoe. Maybe I’ll make one out of Fimo and let it harden or make one out of paper mache’. I spent so much time on the shoes, I never got to the book bag.

I went to my “Blogging Made Easy” class this evening, at the Jr. College near here… and it was cancelled! They couldn’t tell us ahead of time because they said sometimes people just show up and haven’t paid their registration, but decide they want to take the class. There were 6 in the class and they said they needed a minimum of 10. :o( I was disappointed and really was looking forward to the class.

Which brings me to 11:30 p.m. on Thursday evening…Nothing new to show you sewing wise… nothing to write about from my blogging class, so I’m pulling 2 School Dresses from the archives to share with you. The first one is for Isabelle and it’s a sweet little plaid with a denim book bag. The second set of pictures features Patsy Tonner and Elin Iplehouse. Just wanted to show you how the same fabric can be used two entirely different ways. I hope you enjoy the pictures. I think they’re all pretty cute in their dresses…

  1. Well, Jeanne, you aren’t the only one not accomplishing much yesterday! I’m still trying to figure out how to finish off Felicity’s dress, since I don’t want the top-stitching on it—and top-stitching plays a big part of that dress! I’ll get there though.

I love that jumper on Isabelle! It just screams “Back to School” to me! Love the little tam you made for Patsy and Elin to go with their jumper! It all fits together so well, and I love how you changed certain things to make them look so different. Has anyone told you that you have talent and will go far??? 🙂

    1. HI Linda,
Sometimes satiny fabrics want to “bounce” back instead of laying flat when they are pressed. The topstitching makes it lay flat. Do you not want to topstitch it because you think you might get it crooked, or do you just not like the looks of the topstitching?

Doesn’t Isabelle look like the perfect little first grader? I always thought she did!
Thank you Linda, for your kind words…
      Blessings, Jeanne

      1. Jeanne, in answer to your question—-both! I don’t feel terribly confident in my ability to sew perfectly right there in the front where you really notice things! Then too, I feel that topstitching makes the dress look too “sporty” if you know what I mean. But oh, yes, that slippery satin does NOT want to lay flat when I want it to. You try to iron it down, and when you finish ironing, it bounces right back. The only good thing I can say about that is, it never gets all wrinkly looking. I’ve been working on it this rainy morning, and have made some headway. But this dress would NEVER get me a blue ribbon at the fair, I can tell you that!!!!

  2. Jeanne so sorry your class was cancelled. So disappointing for you! Hope you can rest up and feel better. Love the little back to school outfits! So adorable!

    1. HI Marsha,
Yes, I was really disappointed…now I’m looking to see if there are other classes that might be available to take… I want to learn everything I can about how my blog works and since Sarah (my webmaster) won’t be back till February, I have no one to answer my questions…
Thanks for the compliments on my girls jumpers…
      Blessings, Jeanne

  3. Oh, gosh, Jeanne, that is a bummer about class. I know you were looking forward to it. Thank you for taking the time to write to us and show us your school dress photos; it’s hard when it is late and oh, so tired.
I hope today goes better for you.
    Thinking of you,
    Cindy

    1. Hi Cindy,
I think the day HAS to go better… I did find out in the class that there are tutorials built in the WordPress dashboard. I just never snooped enough to find them. Maybe I’ll teach myself! :o)
I just got your email as I was walking Reuben. I’ll have to check out “looking back” at your past things… how fun will that be!!!
      Thanks Cindy,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  4. How disappointing! Hopefully they will offer it again or someone else will.
Really…is there anything cuter than that plaid?? Good pictures to show us!
Hope all the details come together for you today ( take a nap too:)
Off to the hospital…a good friend has been critical for over 11 days…any extra prayers you have for him would be good.

    1. HI Kathie,
Yes, I was disappointed that the class was cancelled, but I’ll survive. There is another intermediate class offered at the end of October for 6 weeks, so maybe I’ll check out that one.
Thanks for the compliments on the plaid jumpers. Plaid makes perfect school dresses, doesn’t it?
I’m sorry about your friend being so sick. Yes, I will pray for him to make a complete recovery.
      Blessings, Jeanne

  5. We all need a down day once in awhile! Sure yours will improve. Love your jumper variations.
On a happier note, we were able to visit our new grand baby yesterday, born 9-9. Life goes on. 🙂

    1. HI Joy,
Well, I’d definitely say yesterday was a down day for me. I hope to make up for lost time today. I’m glad you enjoyed seeing the jumpers.
Congratulations on becoming a new grandma! Little girl or little boy? Or does it matter?
      Thank you Joy,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  6. Hi Jeanne, so sorry about your class. Hopefully you can look at the dashboard and figure some things out? (listen to me…yeah right… like I really know how to move around on different hardware. I usually send myself to outer space when trying to learn!!) One thing I know, if someone will learn all about something, it will be you.
Love those adorable plaids on all the girls. So sweet and definitely says September and Back to School.
    *Kathie W. Prayers said.
    Blessings!

    1. Hi Paula, thanks for the vote of confidence thinking that I will be able to figure things out! I hope I can.
I love this red plaid fabric and have enjoyed making several sweet little dresses from it. Glad you liked it too.
      Thank you Paula,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  7. May today end with you feeling good about your day. At bedtime, I often tell my husband it was a good day and list all the things that were good. Since I have mobility problems, so many variables to make a good day and to end happily for both of us.

    1. Thank you for your kind comments Jan. When I consider the events that happened to others 14 years ago today, I have absolutely no reason at all to say my day didn’t go as I had hoped…
      Blessings to you Jan,
      ~ Jeanne
