New baskets for my dolls….

This morning at church a dear friend handed me a bag and said, “Oh, I found something for you…” I could hardly wait to look inside and see what it was.

BASKETS! Mini Baskets! Mini baskets for my dolls! They are so adorable and little bitty! I just love the shape of the long red one. It looks big in my hand, but it’s really a dainty little thing.

I do have a drawer with some other ordinary baskets… many of which are larger…

but these little red ones made my heart beat a little faster. I am already imagining some scenarios in my head using them closer to Christmas…
Thank you Helen!

On the way home from church, I looked in the bag again and came up with today’s post…some pictures of my girls carrying baskets. Back when I had Felicity as my only doll, I used baskets about every other auction. Most of those pictures are no more… I guess I’ve deleted them. But I’ve discovered ANY doll can use a basket…sometimes they have fruit in them, sometimes veggies, sometimes flowers, sometimes fabric samples, and sometimes the best baskets were filled with Easter goodies. Here are a few of my pictures for a little “basket eye candy!”

  1. Love the baskets, Jeanne! Some of my dolls are historical, so they do carry baskets quite a bit, with flowers, cookies (!), and other goodies, but with the lighter skinned dolls, like Felicity, I have noticed a stain on their hand right where the basket was over it, and for the life of me cannot get rid of it. One of the things to think about, especially those red ones. I usually kept the doll holding the basket days at a time, so don’t do that anymore, or put a small piece of cloth underneath the handle of the basket where it touches the arm. Of course, with dolls like Cecile, Addy, Kaya or Josefina, you probably could never tell there was a stain there.

  2. HI Linda,
Thanks for the tip about the red baskets. I may paint them just to seal the color in them. But if I don’t I think I’ll add a little strip of something underneath the handle to prevent the chance of a stain.
    Aren’t they cute?
    Blessings, Jeanne

  3. What a nice friend you have. I love baskets too, but have difficulty finding the right size for my 10 in. Tonner dolls.

    1. Regina,
I know what you mean about trying to find the right size baskets for your dolls. Most of the baskets are too big or too bulky for dainty little dolls. These are “just right!”
Yes, she IS a nice friend.
      Blessings, Jeanne
