My Top Ten Favorite Doll Dresses of 2014…

As I was looking over my pictures from 2014 and all the doll dresses I have made, I thought maybe it might be fun to pick my top ten favorites… It proved harder than I thought and I’m not sure I can do it. It’s not that I think one dress is prettier than another, but I have the memories of sewing it, how easy it went together, how many seams I had to rip out, how sweet the doll looked in it when we took the pictures, etc. A lot of factors went into my decisions. I think I’ll just have to have my lower end 5 and my upper end 5. I’m just not sure I can pick ten and be set on it…

If you click on my pictures, they will enlarge.

Of the dresses, these are my bottom 5 picks…

Oooooh…that was too hard! As I look over my picks, I think it’s interesting how many are on my Dianna Effner Little Darlings… I think they are so much fun to sew for and apparently it’s easy to make a pretty dress for them. I went through all my pictures and had picked out 19 at first. Eliminating dresses that you liked was very hard but I guess I’ll stick with my choices… Maybe in 2015 my choices will include more American Girl dolls or some other doll. I looked over my choices again and if I was told I A-B-S-O-L-U-T-E-L-Y had to pick one, it would probably be the little peach and white dress on Janie. She was so beautiful in it and it was hard to sell that one. So there.. I guess I did pick a top winner!

Do you have a favorite in all of them?

See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

  1. I agree, so, so hard. I, too, LOVE the peach dress on Janie, but then Lian cannot be left out. The last pic of her in the purple is just as beautiful. If I remember correctly, the day I saw your Lian modeling a dress on eBay was the day that I sat up and took notice of the Little Darlings. I think that this was shortly after you had gotten her. Was she a Christmas gift from your husband? It was years ago, 8 years maybe…or more?

    1. HI Cindy,
Yes, Lian is definitely a favorite of mine…even when she’s naked… I just love her. I’ve only had her since 2012, and she was a gift FROM me, TO me… She absolutely stole my heart on Ebay and I was determined to have her….
I like her in that purple dress too.

    1. Thank you Jane,
Kirsten is so much fun to sew for. I love coordinating different fabrics for her dresses!
Thanks so much for letting me know your favorite.
      Blessings, Jeanne

I also love the peach dress on Janie. The combo of her red hair & the dress are perfect. I need the name of that wig. Then I look to the other dresses and I am partial to any of the dresses with the color of violet. I remember most of these dresses when they hit eBay. I bid on a few but obviously did not win. Which makes me head to my machine and try to create a beauty for my own Little Darlings.

    1. HI Jeannie,
We think a lot alike don’t we? I think it has to do with having the same name! :o)
Her wig was just some unnamed, sausage curls, old fashioned, $6 wig I found on Ebay. I took each sausage curl and carefully separated it into 3 curls each and voila!
Thank you for all your comments, Jeannie,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  3. I agree, the peach dress on Janie with her red hair is so pretty! The Little Darlings are so sweet that everything looks beautiful on them.

    1. HI Regina,
It IS hard to make something that doesn’t look good on these sweet little girls. They are just too cute for their own good!

  4. The first three dresses are so darling but Lian is my favorite Little Darling and the Easter dress she wears in one of the pictures is just too precious. The peach dress is adorable too. I really like the red plaid dress for the AMG doll and the other AMG dress with the apron – I can see how difficult it would be to choose a favorite as well as the top ten. All the outfits are beautiful and so unique in their own way.

    1. HI Paula,
It was VERY hard to choose favorites and maybe I shouldn’t have.. but I did…
I don’t think I’ve ever made anything for Lian that wasn’t sweet as could be on her. She is very photogenic as well. Thanks for all your kind words, Paula,
      Blessings, Jeanne

I’m not looking at the other posts until I choose…
#1 hands down the LD Easter outfit. The colors, the detail, the hat OMGosh perfection
#2 AG in the Christmas outfit with the apron…she’s just adorable and love that hat!
Was fun to see your favs!

    1. Thanks Kathie,
I think everyone has their own favorites, just like I had mine.. It was REALLY hard to pick… Thanks so much, Blessings, Jeanne

The ones I remember especially are Lian’s Easter dress of many colors and Lian’s pink dress with the smocking, bunny, and bows. I remember watching the bidding on those two go right through the roof. It was great fun. I didn’t win but the excitement was pretty wonderful. I liked cheering everyone on, and I hope that the winners really, really enjoyed those dresses.

    1. Thank you so much Marilyn,
You are such a great cheerleader for me and my auctions! Sometimes I wonder who is watching the endings with me…
Yes, Lian’s dress was my all time high seller! It was very exciting that night!
Thanks again Marilyn, Are you staying warm? I am SO ready for Spring…
      Blessings, Jeanne

Winter is not even a month old. I don’t think it’s ready to leave yet. Maybe you could celebrate it by making a new coat. I’d love that. Or you made some lovely cut velvet dresses a couple of years ago.
I think Easter’s early this year — April 5. It will feel like spring. It usually does.
