My Little Darling, Lian, is “READY FOR SCHOOL” and looking mighty scholarly…

FIRST THINGS FIRST: Don’t forget Kit’s Navy and white dotted Swiss dress ends this evening on Ebay. You can see that listing HERE, or click the second picture on the right side bar and it will take you there.

I didn’t want to disappoint you by not showing Lian to you in a full length picture…no more teasing from me! In fact, she was having such a good time getting her picture taken, just a little while ago she asked me if I couldn’t take a few new pictures of her in the dress so you didn’t have to see the same pictures here as the ones in the Ebay listing…

Oh yeah…the listing… you can find it HERE… or click on the picture at the right side bar and it will take you to the auction.

Some of my pictures this evening turned out clearer and actually better than a few I used in my listing… I hope you enjoy them.

Lian makes a great little student, doesn’t she? I bet she’ll be the teacher’s pet from day one!

Thank you again, Eileen, for such a sweet chalkboard for my dolls. I’ve been waiting to use it since I received it! I just think it’s the most adorable prop ever!

I just heard an interesting tidbit on the Olympics tonight… Guess how much the USA’s “Final Five’s” sparkly red, white and blue gymnastics leotards cost? $1200 apiece! Yikes…

Oh, and one more note… we are going up to St. Louis this evening to pick up Jean’s (Zhaun’s) wife and 3 little kids… I’d appreciate your prayers and I’m sure Jean would too. He’s from Haiti and hasn’t seen them in such a long time he thinks his 2 year old might not remember him. We were very blessed today to have found favor with the Safety Center here in town… they gave Jean 3 car seats for his children to be transported in cars safely! What a blessing…

Well, it’s been a busy day today and tomorrow is stacking up to be another one…

See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

  1. That was worth waiting for. Congratulations, Jeanne, on another winner! The book bag is a darling accessory for this really special dress, and its contents will make the winner very happy with those cute extras. It would be fun to see how this outfit looks on Janie and Isabelle, but I don’t think you’re going to be able to get it off Lian. This is a winner all the way. I love it when you have 2 Ebay auctions at the same time — a triumph of talent, design, and construction over the general busy-ness of life.

I am so glad you are taking Jean to reunite with his family. That will be lovely for all of you. And with three car seats for safety and a wonderful, comfortable apartment to go home to, he has really lucked out — or maybe this family is just getting what it has long deserved. I hope it’s a beautiful, wonderful day.

    1. HI Marilyn,
I’m so glad it was worth the wait to see Lian’s dress. I thought you’d like it. I added a snap to the book bag to keep it from flapping open…
I like it when I have 2 auctions on Ebay too… I used to get 3 and 4 sometimes on there… but lately it just can’t happen.
We will leave for the airport in a few hours… and I know Jean is super excited! I bet his wife is too! I hope it’s a wonderful reunion too!
      Thanks so much,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  2. Beautiful dress and setting for Lian, Jeanne. Like Marilyn said, it’s another winner.

What a glorious day for Jean and family…trusting all goes well for you all. Do take care.

    1. HI Becky and thank you for your sweet comments on Lian’s dress set. This one was very fun to put together… these Little Darlings are SO much fun to sew for. If they had bendable arms and legs they would be perfect!!!
It’s nice to know that Jean and his family will be reunited in a couple of hours…
      Blessings, Jeanne

  3. Had to come see how Lian’s new school dress turned out (she’s my favorite) and boy, was it ever worth it!! Absolutely adorable, Jeanne, so incredibly beautifully sewn, just like everything you touch. Love everything about it, the colors, the trims, the stitching, the style, the length, it’s just perfect! Best of luck with both of these sales, dear friend and prayers for Jean and his family.

    Blessings in all you do!

    1. HI Bobi,
So nice to hear from you today! So Lian brought you out of hiding, did she? Thank you so much for your gushing compliments on her dress set. I’m glad you like it! So does she!!! :o)
      Don’t stay away so long… it’s nice to know you’re okay…
      Blessings, Jeanne

    1. Thank you Christine,
It’s too bad Lian “really” isn’t going to school… she’d be a good little student I think!
Thanks for the well wishes for Jean and his family. I can’t wait to meet them.
      blessings, Jeanne

  4. Beautiful! Love Lian’s dress and book bag (I was right!). I especially love the machine embroidery at her hem with the little red pop of buttons. Clever!!

Blessings to Jean and his family as they reunite!

    1. HI Karen,
Yes, you were right about the book bag!! I like that pattern around the hem of her dress too…it’s just simple, but looks really nice on the blue fabric.
Thanks for your blessings to Jean and his family,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  5. Lian’s new school ensemble is even cuter than your teaser photos had me anticipating it to be! Blue is the perfect color to start the new school year. Hmm, wonder what grade Lian is starting… Whatever grade she’ll be entering she will be one of her teacher’s favorite students, I’m sure. Those little accessories are pure adorableness! Love them!
I hope all goes perfect at the airport tonight, and it is a happy, happy reunion!

    1. HI Cindy,
Thanks for the compliments on Lian’s dress set. I don’t know what grade she’ll be in but supposedly they say the Little Darlings are 5-6 years old. I guess whatever age you want them to be… :o)
      Thanks so much Cindy,
I’m glad to be a part of this reunion tonight… I hope his wife likes me! :o/
      Blessings, Jeanne

  6. Jeanne, I can’t believe how you can take a basic dress pattern and make it look so different each and every time you make it! I absolutely LOVE this outfit! Like Karen says, the machine embroidery with the little red buttons is just so clever! The darling book bag is just what a girl needs to start the school year off right! Love the felt flowers and the darling embroidered ribbon strap! The hat, slip and socks make it look special too. I’m surprised your dolls are still sitting there so willingly even after you make them such beautiful outfits—–and then sell them off! 🙂

Too bad you couldn’t stop by to see me tonight, but actually the airport is quite a ways from my house. We live way south of it! I’m sure Jean is very excited to see his family again, and they are excited to see him. Thank you for making a family from another country so welcome and lovingly at home in the good old USA! We need more people like you and George!

    1. HI Linda,
Your compliments are over the top on this one! Thanks so much! I’ll tell Lian how much you like it.
I”m just glad to be a small part of this whole family getting to experience life together again. I can’t imagine being apart for such a long time as they have been. Makes me very grateful for my hubby and kids and my home…
      Thanks Linda,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  7. They say a picture is worth a thousand words, and I could go on and on about these pictures of Lian’s school dress. I just love the double-breasted look of the white buttons on the dark blue, and that combined with the cute muffin cap give this outfit a bit of a nautical feel. Your eyelet bodices always look so sweet, and I especially like how the little bits of lace are carefully positioned on the shoulders of this one. The embroidered hem is eye-catching, complimenting the paisley-like swirls in the fabric, and the red buttons add just the right pop of contrast. Lian’s school bag with the felt flowers is surely the prettiest one I have ever seen, coordinating nicely with the checked bow at her neck. In addition to being the best-dressed student, I’m sure Lian is the most well-prepared one, too. Her little school supplies are simply adorable! No detail escapes you, Jeanne. Your “Ready for School” ensemble is a gold medal winner!

Best wishes to Jean and his family as they reunite in the U.S.A. May their life here together be blessed in every way, and may you be blessed, too, for the kindness and support you have shown them, Jeanne. Safe travels with the little ones in their donated car seats. The moment of their reunion will surely be memorable.

  8. Oh sweet. That hem detail, machine? So clever. And I think the button trim? I can’t tell on my computer.
Some time I’ll tell you about the water heater disaster. 🙂

  9. I think of Jean’s wife as a true heroine. I’ve travelled long distances by myself with three children but not all of them that young nor flights that long. You’ll want to find out how long the flights and layovers were to appreciate the feat. And all the changes she faces. She will need lots of prayers. You have her off to a good start. Bless you all.

The dress is just darling. Another triumph! Thanks for sharing the process with us.
