My Little Darling, Isabelle, looks cool and refreshing…

That’s what several of you said… “cool and refreshing!” I sort of liked that. The fabric is very pretty and looks wonderful against Isabelle’s dark hair. She’s been wide awake today and has tried her new dress on numerous times. I just finished the slip and the dress and I’ll get the rest of the set done ASAP! She hasn’t picked out any shoes yet, but I still thought I’d share with you what I managed to get finished!

I used the piping to go around the armholes, the neck and added it at the waist. A red strand of floss was woven through the beading on the Swiss lace.

  1. How about gorgeous and sweet!!
The dress is perfect for the pretty Isabelle.
She is always a beauty in what you design for her.
    Hugs, Rosie

    1. Oh how sweet of you to comment, “Rosie!” I’m so glad you got to see Isabelle in her new dress! It didn’t take anything super fancy for Miss Isabelle to look her best in it! She always does. Now if I can just get the right story line for her!
      Thanks again so much…
      Blessings, Jeanne

  2. Isabelle does look cool and refreshing, with a pop of patriotic red. The piping on the bodice is a great touch too. I love, love, love this shade of blue, and of course the red roses are sweet. It seems like you whipped this up pretty fast… or have you been sewing all day? Isabelle looks like one happy girl; I’m glad she woke up for this one.
    Have a great Sunday, Jeanne!

    1. Thanks so much Cindy,
I hadn’t thought that Isabelle in this red, white and (aqua) blue dress would be my Patriotic girl this year, but I guess it worked out that way. I do love this color blue too… and I think most anyone can wear this shade.
I did sew a fair amount yesterday but still managed to get a few interruptions too…
I hope to get in my sewing room again today…
      Thanks a lot Cindy,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  3. I am so surprised at how fast this came together. I wonder how red shoes would look with it. Or of course she could be one of your barefoot girls. When I saw the fabrics yesterday, I thought they’d make a cute nightgown too, but I think Isabelle and I both prefer this. What a lovely Sunday morning surprise.

    1. HI Marilyn,
I haven’t even looked at shoes yet, but I DO have red ones if they’ll work.
When I first saw the fabric I thought of a night gown too, but decided on the dress… I don’t think it looks too “nightgown-ish” do you? I also have this in a pink print…
I’m glad you were welcomed by this “Isabelle Surprise!”
Now we’ll have to see what kind of surprises I have for Monday’s post!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  4. Isabelle is so sweet. There were comments yesterday asking about spending that much on a doll. Wouldn’t you know, the very next email I received was from Magalie, saying that she is offering LD dolls that she has just started painting. I was receiving the emails just to see what Magalie makes, not that I could afford to buy anything. But I finally broke down and ordered one today ($550). She can match the hair and eyes and skin color to order. The only explanation I can give is that I only have one granddaughter, but if I had several, I would not be able to do this. I will save it for her for when she is old enough to take care of the doll. I’ll send the address to you, Jeanne, if you would like to post it.

    1. Susette, you are not alone. I too placed an order! Must have been a huge rush for Magalie yesterday. All the dolly choices are amazing. Now to wait.

      1. Aren’t we lucky! Took me a day to think it over. Glad to see you got an order in. Thanks, Jeanne, for letting us know about Magalie.

      2. HI Joy,
Congratulations to you too, Joy! Oh this is so much fun… lots of new Little Darlings will be coming to you all soon… I bet Magalie was swamped when she announced she’d be painting the dolls… congrats to her too, for taking this big step!
Yes, the waiting is the hardest part… believe me I KNOW!
        Blessings, Jeanne

    2. HI Susette and BIG congrats to you for ordering a Little Darling from Magalie.
I almost emailed Magalie the other night when I saw her first one…the little blue eyed blonde in the coral dress, to ask her if she was going to start painting the dolls, but I resisted. I guess my hunch was right. She’ll do very well with them, I’m sure.
So… which one did you pick? or did you give her your own ideas for one?
I got your email about Magalie’s address and I think I’ll ask her if she’d like me to post it on my blog. I think I should ask her first… :o) Nothing like being swamped right off the bat.
Again, congrats and wow…only a couple months wait… I’ve been waiting for 26 months on one and she should be here soon, but that’s what a said a year ago… *sigh*
      Thanks Susette,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  5. Isabelle models your creation so beautifully. Your choices and skills make for magnificent eye candy and wonderfully dressed dolls.

    Blessings.

    1. HI Becky,
Isabelle looks just as sweet when she’s standing in her undies….she’s just a pretty little doll. My sister tells me all the time, Isabelle is her favorite… I tell her “sorry!”
      Thanks Becky,
      Happy Sunday back to you,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  6. I love the striped trim on this dress. Everything about the outfit speaks of a soft summer afternoon. So pretty.

    1. Hi Joy,
Yes, this dress is a combination of cotton candy, a summer day, a soft breeze, all the things that are calm and peaceful. At least it is to me…
Thanks so much for your sweet compliments…
And congrats again to you on your new Little Darling you ordered…
      Blessings, Jeanne

  7. What?? Susette and Joy ordered dolls from Magalie??? You lucky ducks!!! Will they be wearing clothes too? I’d love to see what you ordered!

Oh Jeanne, that dress is just what I thought! Did you use a “fancy” stitch on the bottom above the hem and lace? Boy, you sure whipped that up fast, and the slip really makes it stand out so well!

What a cool, rainy day we are having, brrrr! Only 64 degrees this morning for church! Not 4th of July weather for sure! I hope your day is better, Jeanne!

    1. Just received a note from Magalie. Mine will be painted around October. So I have wait time. I believe they come in underwear of her choice. Here is the address to order. It lists all of the possible combinations like hair color, style, length, bangs/no bangs, etc.

    2. HI Linda,
Yes, Susette and Joy ordered dolls from Magalie. They won’t be dressed in her fancy dresses, but in a set of undies made by Magalie.
I’m going to email Magalie and ask if I can put the link to her painted dolls on my blog post tomorrow… she might already be swamped. Every time a new artist decides to paint dolls they get flooded with orders.
Yes, Linda, I did use a decorative stitch just above the lace to hold the hem up. It added a little bit of interest while securing the hem in place at the same time. I tried to mimic the lace edge at the waist.
We just had a huge downpour for about 20-30 minutes a little while ago. It has everything soaked right now. If the sun comes out, it’s going to be really sticky!
      Thanks Linda,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  8. What a speedy transformation, Jeanne! I LOVE the striped piping trim, and your lace slips are so sweet and feminine. What little girl wouldn’t want one? All the better for twirling! Isabelle must feel so pretty. Just charming, Jeanne. But your completed story lies in the details, so can’t wait to see the final reveal! Wishing you an enjoyable Sunday.

    1. HI Anne,
Yes, I’ve got to get Isabelle’s story just right… we’ll have to see what transforms between now and when I list it.
Thanks for your sweet comments on her dress. It looks so summery, I think and Isabelle loves how comfy it is!
I’ve had an enjoyable, but rainy, Sunday afternoon!
      Blessings, Jeanne
