My favorite pictures of some of my favorite dolls…

I’m really sorry but “things” got in the way of my Sunday afternoon and evening and there was no time to sew. I hate to disappoint you with no pictures of Felicity’s Colonial dress to show you, but hopefully you’ll still enjoy what I do have for you…

If someone asked me if I had a favorite doll, I’d probably have to say, “No, because if I mentioned one doll, it might hurt the others feelings… but I will tell you I have some favorite pictures of some dolls.” If I had to quickly list off my favorite pictures, I think I could name 20 right off the top of my head… I know those pictures as they are etched in my mind…and I think on my heart! Sometimes the photo shoots that I have with my dolls surprise me with how they turn out. Sometimes I look through my camera lens and just see a doll in a dress and other times I see a doll in a dress, but she just looks radiant… beautiful…mesmerizing…innocent…sweet…and darling! Those are the pictures I remember and wanted to share with you today… They might be my favorites because of the way the doll is looking at the camera, or perhaps it’s the way the fabric goes with her skin, or it might be the way her eyes are glistening in the lights or maybe just the way she has her head tilted. Whatever the reason, I hope you enjoy them…I was very generous with them…and hope it’s enough to hold you over till I get Felicity’s dress on here again…I think most of you know my dolls by now, so I’ll just make this a picture show…

I won’t ask you if you have a favorite, but if you do, it would be fun to know… :o)

  1. They really are beautiful. I think the one thing in common that makes these special is the way their skin glows — they look alive. I have a whole list of favorites: Josefina in black and aqua, Janie in orange tulips, Elizabeth in white (one of the best dresses ever), Josefina outdoors (I see why you want to take more outdoor pictures), the doll in the regency dress with blue flowers, Rebecca in green (those are great gloves), Lian in pink (with the green teddy bear), Nyssa in the green Victorian dress (the Wiggs dolls often look good in Victorian clothes), and the very best, Kirsten at Christmas. You could send the Kirsten picture out for your Christmas card.

I’m looking at their skin and mine — mine glows too, from the red marks of mosquito bites. A friend says the mosquitoes are around for only 6 weeks, but I think they last longer than that.

I looked again at the new Felicity dress. The folds in the skirt are beautiful. I hope you have that fabric in several colors.

I’m looking forward to seeing what everyone else chooses.

    1. Hi Marilyn,
After you mentioned their skin glowing, I went back and looked again and I think you are right. I’m glad you had so many favorites. I do too!
I almost omitted the Kirsten picture at the end because I had so many already, but it really really is a favorite of mine. I’m glad I left it in!
I do have linen fabrics in several different colors…so I can do more petticoats for Felicity.
      Thank you Marilyn,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  2. I *really* love that outfit on Josephina – the black/green one. Is a full length picture of that outfit at your Flicker page? that one must have been made ‘before my time’ visiting your blog daily.
“Real life” is happening around my house, too – keeping me away from dolly doings….but, this will all pass. Summer months are notorious for ‘other happenings’. Thanks for taking time to share your pictures. 🙂

    1. Hi Mary,
I’m not sure if I have that picture in full length on my Flickr page, but I can send you one…
I’m in my sewing room typing on my iPad or I’d just look it up and send it to you…
I’m right there with you on the “real life” happenings… Today it was alterations for Rebecca and a doctor’s appointment for my mom. Oh well, I’ll do what I can…
      Thanks Mary,
      Blessings, Jeanne

      1. I didn’t find an email from you…but, I strolled through Flickr and did find it there…and ‘pinned it’ for gazing at from time to time. It’s really lovely! thanks!

  3. Your blog was back this morning as usual. Yay. The past two days never showed up at all.
Thank you for sharing your favorites! So fun to see such a variety.
No favorites here, but I love the cute red tam and cherries blouse outfit. So ready for back to school. Schools start in August out here so it is really not that long. And Ell does look elegant.

    1. Hi Joy,
I’m sorry that you are experiencing quirks with my blog too…you can always just type in https://www.idreamofjeannemarie.com anytime if it doesn’t come up.
That outfit on Isabelle was always a very strong favorite of mine. It was a little school outfit and she looked adorable in it.
I’m glad you enjoyed the pictures of all my girls.
      Blessings, Jeanne

  4. Jeanne, I don’t know the names of your dolls, so I’ve counted down from the top. The dress with the peach roses #10 has always been my favorite, but #6 is certainly a close second, I love the black trim. Ellowyne looks elegant, the pose is perfect and what a nice hairstyle.

    1. Hi Jevne,
So nice to hear from you today!!
You picked Janie, one of my Dianna Effner little Darlings, in the peach and white dress. A friend gave me that fabric and it’s the most incredible gauze like fabric I’ve even felt. That wig on her was perfect with the dress.
The orange dress with the black appliqué is shown on Lian, my other Little Darling. That is probably in my top 5 all time favorite dresses. It was just a simple thing but I LOVED everything about it.
The picture of Ellowyne is probably my favorite Ellowyne shot,
Thanks for sharing with us your favorite pictures.
      Blessings, Jeanne

  5. Elizabeth and Felicity’s photos are my favorites although they’re all in a close race for the favorite photo. Thank you for sharing your lovely creations with us. It’s hard to pick a favorite with the marvelous way each outfit turns out.

    Take care…stay cool!

    1. Hi Becky,
I’m so glad there were a few favorites for you in my pictures. If you think it was hard for you all, you should have seen me…I probably had 50 pictures and then had to narrow it down…it was almost painful. I have some very pretty girls.
      Thanks so much Becky,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  6. What fun it was to see those pictures and the girls in their beautiful outfits. I must say that little Lian and Isabelle are just too precious and I love their dresses. Also, I like how Josefina in front of your fountain…perfect back ground. Love it.
I just got back from running errands…to several places. I am literally nauseous from the heat…getting in and out of the car. I will not go outside if it’s muggy- period! I beat the mugginess just in time. My plans for today are all things I’m doing inside! : )

    1. Hi Paula,
I think Lian got the most pictures…but it’s because she’s just so incredibly cute. Isabelle got quite a few pictures too. They are just incredible dolls and so much fun to photograph.

It was very hot today here too, and I tried to stay inside as much as possible…
      Thank you Paula,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  7. What are you apologizing for, Jeanne? You have a home, family, friends and lots of things going on. I think anyone reading your blog understands that life happens, blog or no blog, and besides your blog is so interesting when it includes the other fun things you do in your life. I love to see your sewing skills, but you have so many other interesting things to talk about, I’m sure no one minds.

Oh, those dresses are just adorable! I’m not picking a favorite, or I will be here all day! I do love that green and black outfit of Josefina’s a lot though. The Little Darlings look so sweet in their outfits, I really wish I could afford one.

However, I discovered that I have a Robert Tonner Betsy McCall dolll! I had no idea who made her, but this morning I was checking out Ebay and one popped up on my screen, and looked just like the one I have! She is really cute, but has strange colored eyes, kind of goldish. The one on Ebay had that too, so I don’t know if that is the way they came or if they faded over time. Is she the same size as the Little Darlings? Maybe I could get some Little Darling clothes for her, who knows?

    1. Linda,
I badly need to downsize my collection of LD outfits. I have heard that Betsy McCall can wear the same clothes. If anyone here knows for sure, maybe I could send you a few things — then you could spend your money on shoes for your doll and a couple of special Jeanne Marie outfits.
When I was growing up, McCall’s put out Betsy McCall paper dolls, but my mother thought food on the table was more important than a magazine subscription, or today I’d have a whole box of Betsy McCall paper dolls.
Jeanne can give you my email address.

      1. Marilyn,
How generous of you! I want to make sure my doll is the right size, but have not actually measured her. I’ll do that tonight, and Jeanne, could you send me Marilyn’s email address, please? I don’t want to hijack your blog!

      2. Hi Marilyn,
How kind of you to share your bounty with Linda. I will send Linda your email address…
        Thank you so much Marilyn,
        Blessings, Jeanne

    2. Hi Linda and thank you for your sweet words of kindness and encouragement! I really do appreciate them more than you could know…
The Little Darlings are just so adorable…I wish you could find one too. You would love them!
I’ve heard that the Betsy McCall dolls can wear the Little Darling doll clothes. I don’t have one so I can’t be 100% sure, but I’ll check on the dolls measurements and see how close they are.
About their eyes…yes some of those Betsy dolls have those golden like brownish eyes. They are kind of strange looking to me too.
      Thanks Linda,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  8. What sweet pictures, and if you don’t have a favorite doll, you do have a favorite model and it is Lian!! She shows up the most times in the pictures. 🙂 Of course, I love the picture of Felicity. I also like the picture of your Wren doll is the Christmas green with burgundy belt. She reminds me a little of my Kathe Kruse “Heidi” doll that my great aunt brought back from a trip to Germany to visit our relatives when I was a child. I was told she was a display only doll and boy, am I glad now because she is still prefect i also like the one on Lian in her pink bonnet with the little green bear.

    1. Hi Laura,
Thank you so much for your thoughts about my girls. I guess it’s evident…I DO love my sweet Lian! She is my little sweetheart…just like it sounds like your Kathe Kruse is your little sweetheart!
It’s fun to have dolls to love on, isn’t it?
      Thank you Laura,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  9. So many little charmers, it is impossible to choose! You do such a good job of designing outfits that flatter each of your models, Jeanne. They are all so lovely and display such a range of your sewing skills, too. The many different embellishments alone have me looking at the pictures again and again. Just beautiful work!

I see that I am in agreement with other readers here that we enjoy your blog whether or not you have some new sewing to show us. Please don’t ever feel that you disappoint! You are blessed with a rich, full life, and we enjoy hearing about it! There is always something with which we can relate.

    Monday blessings to you!

    1. Thank you Anne,
I really appreciate all your sweet comments about my girls and their pictures. I have lots of fun doing what I do and I think I have a happy bunch of dolls who live with me.
Thank you for understanding about there not always being a post about dolls or sewing.
I’m glad you enjoy reading each day,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  10. P.S. Is the green fabric of Josefina’s bolero the same green fabric of Felicity’s petticoat? So versatile with a lovely drape, and it looks like it has a beautiful hand, as well.

    1. Yes, the fabric in Josefinas bolero is the same fabric… Good eye!
      Blessings, Jeanne
