My Little Darling, Janie, is just a “little bit country”

I actually got something accomplished today that was DOLLY RELATED! Aren’t you all thrilled??? Me too! I worked most of the afternoon and evening on Janie’s set and got the whole outfit finished…It’s almost 1:00 a.m. Friday morning, so I’m going to do this quickly, and hopefully will be able to get it listed on Ebay this evening…

This one of a kind set will include the tiered blue dress, with the brown suede belt, the sweet Ultrasuede vest with all the details you see, the guitar with a shoulder strap so she can play it easily, a set of blue ribbons for your dolls hair, her lace leg warmers…and of course her boots…

Janie sang such a sweet song, her kitty and puppy fell asleep on the bench…

If you click on the pictures they will enlarge.

Her guitar was a Christmas ornament I found… isn’t it cute? It’s quite fragile though… the strings are just threads so it has to be handled with care!

I considered making a cowgirl hat, when I couldn’t find one the size of her head, but after the boots and the vest, I had had my fill of designing things…I just opted for ribbons in her hair!!

I think the lacy leggings “fill up” the boot just a little bit and make them look better than just wearing them against a bare leg.

See you tomorrow,

  1. Jeanne, that turned out just to be the most darling little cowgirl ever! Maybe even a little country singer!! I love the colors, the style, just everything! I like the way you pair off little items with the outfits you make to give it more interest and to create little scenes, not just a dress on a doll just standing there. You certainly know how to market your goods!!

    1. HI Linda,
You should have seen me searching for something “country” or “western” for my pictures… no barn pictures to put behind her, no cows or horses to stand beside her, no square dance floor… but I found a hay bale and this trusty bench that I’ve used so many times… I think it works okay…
      Thanks so much Linda,
      Blessings, Jeanne

    1. Thanks Maureen,
She is a little darling, isn’t she? It’s so much fun to change her wig to fit whatever style she is wearing… I thought this red one done in long braids worked well…

  2. Good morning, Jeanne! What a sweetheart! Janie will be the star of any Oktoberfest festival.

Janie’s new ensemble came together wonderfully. I’ll bet it felt good to be able (finally) to get some dolly sewing done.

    1. HI Cindy,
Yes, it did feel good to be sewing again on “dolly” things… I really missed it!
Janie does look like a little star at some festival, doesn’t she?
      Thanks Cindy,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  3. How sweet Janie is in her new western outfit. She reminds me of a little girl waiting for her turn to step up on the stage at a fair/festival and sing her songs. She looks very confident in her new outfit. The flower print and layers are so perfect for her dress and her vest and boots add the finishing touch.
Excellent job. Oh, love her red hair.
Looks like fall has arrived – one of my favorite times of the year!

    1. Thanks Paula,
I’ll have to figure out my “storyline” for my auction tonight on Ebay… you all have given me some good ideas about what to say…
Thank you so much for your kind compliments on Janie’s set… I know you don’t have a Little Darling, but it’s nice of you to take time to comment anyway…
      Blessings, Jeanne

  4. Great job! You are the energizer bunny! Love the Cowgirl outfit. Don’t know how you do all the different outfits for different size dolls. Guess it takes lots for trial and error. The boots came out great.
    She looks so sweet!

    1. HI Sylvia,
Sometimes I don’t do a very good job of rotating my dolls like I’d like to. Some dolls just get picked more than others…
I appreciate your kind words about Janie’s outfit. I’m very happy with the finished look…
She’ll probably sing a “ballad” when she learns she has to give it up!
      Thanks Sylvia,
      Blessings, Jeanne

    1. Thank you so much Regina,
I just barely had enough brown ultrasuede to tie everything together.
      So glad you like it…
      Blessings, Jeanne

  5. Amazing, What a great outfit. You have so many cute ideas and follow through with them wonderfully. Can’t wait to see the next cute little outfit for your girls….Lynn

    1. Thank you Lynn,
I appreciate your kind words… If you only knew how many ideas I had running around in my head that never make it to the finish line… LOTS!
      Blessings, Jeanne

I love the October sky blue with the sunflowers. I’m glad you had a chance to finish this really cute project, and I’m looking forward to a picture of the sari outfit. While you are on a Southwestern kick, I hope your new Josefina gets a chance to shine. She’d make a lovely Indian. You’d have to tack in the sari pleats — I can see a buyer staring in dismay at a lovely sari underblouse and a beautiful, flat length of silk. On Etsy I saw an American Girl dressed as Mother Theresa.
I recommended your blog to a friend who is teaching her great-granddaughter to sew. On this blog you get doll clothes (her current interest), Sara and your life, projects small and huge (what did you mend for the church? It was very, very large), projects for your house, Rebecca’s jewelry, historical projects, and projects that go smoothly and ones that don’t, not to mention a dog and thousands of cicadas. Think how much of life you cover. She can also do searches on all kinds of things and not run into a single inappropriate ad or word. My friend, Evie, explored your blog and was equally impressed with the range of subjects covered while you center on your central topic. Altogether, this is a great blog — and a great blogger.

    1. HI Marilyn,
You make me gush with all your compliments! Sometimes it seems strange to me that I get up every morning and see there are many people, mostly ladies, who read what I write while they drink their coffee. I sometimes ask myself, “how did this happen?”
I hope your friends great granddaughter is enjoying what she reads…
(The church project was probably that big blow up slide thingy for Vacation Bible School…)
I wouldn’t say my life “totally” revolves around sewing, but a big part of it does… and that makes me smile as I LOVE TO SEW!
      Thanks a million Marilyn,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  7. Well if that isn’t the very cutest thing I’ve seen in a very longtime…That is the perfect scene. Everything from her red hair and freckles to the cute print ( I have some of it too!) The way the Ultra Suede matches the blue dress and those boots….Oh my, they are just the best. If you shut your eyes you can hear her strumming that Guitar too! 🙂
You may blow your best sale out of the water with this ensemble.
Best of luck and have a great weekend!

    1. Kathie,
You are too kind, just as Marilyn was, with your compliments. I had fun making this one… it just took me forever to get it finished because of a few interruptions… It will go on Ebay this evening and we’ll see how it’s received…
Thank you for your very kind words, Kathie,
      Blessings, Jeanne
