My birthday continues…

Thank you so very much for all the sweet birthday wishes you showered on me Saturday! It was wonderful to wake up to so many blessings!

I had just been up a short time and was actually reading your comments when I got a call from Sara and her mom and dad and they serenaded me with “Happy Birthday” in Spanish…then in English. It was so cute!

I started answering some of your notes, when a little while later I was told to get ready as we were going to my favorite Chinese Restaurant for lunch. It was delicious as always and the owner even sent out little cheesecake bites for us. (That was my tiny birthday cake…and it’s a good thing it was the size of a mini Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup, when you hear what I did later…) A few of the waitresses and waiters sang Happy Birthday to me in Chinese!

We came home so the guys could get their things together and get on the road to St. Louis for the Rams / Colts football game. At home I was given a few gifts from my family.

First up…have you ever had one of these Lindt White Coconut candy bars?

…I hadn’t either. I was very bad today…very very bad!!!

Rebecca signed me up for a class at the Jr. college she used to go to. The class is called “Blogging Made Easy” and it runs for 6 weeks, once a week. I hope I learn some things I don’t know about, which is a lot. I’m looking forward to it…

My hubby surprised me with something I have wanted for probably 6 or 7 years…it’s not personal or romantic or something to wear…he knows I look at them on EBay every so often, because I keep him updated… No, it’s not a new doll either… It’s a pressure cooker…

CIMG2303

…a Kuhn Rikon pressure cooker… They are a Swiss made pressure cooker and I have been holding out for this very one all these years. My younger sister has one just like it and it’s such an incredible cooker. It speeds the cooking up and I am super excited to finally have my very own! He totally surprised me with getting it for me…I can’t believe he did it…

After the guys left, Rebecca and I went to town…first to Ross Dress for Less…where I found a new nightgown, 2 tops and a “step on the pedal” trash can for my bathroom…Reuben will NOT stay out of the trash…ICK! Unless he figures out how to use the pedal…this should solve the problem.

Next we went to Hobby Lobby where we were looking for a few specific things…an hour and a half later we emerged…with only 5 cards of jewelry making things…ugh. It was getting close to when the game was going to be televised…so we decided to call it quits and come home. Guess we didn’t find any trouble to get in afterall.

Now the game is on TV and I have been scrutinizing the crowd to see if I see the guys. Actually I haven’t seen one single shot of the crowd… Maybe they don’t do that until it’s the regular season. The Indianapolis Colts have now scored 24 points and the Rams have 14. Come on Rams…pick things up! (Update… the Rams lost… :o(((

I’m ready to put on my new nightgown and get comfy…

Turning 59 was pretty nice. Thank you for starting my day off with so many kind thoughts. As I said yesterday, I truly am blessed. I stayed up till midnight last night working on that black and white jumper for Maryellen. I promise to get it finished soon…

See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

  1. Jeanne, I’m glad you had such a nice day! It was so much fun reading all the good wishes you received and hearing about all the goodies! Nope, never had one of those candy bars, and I hope I never come across one, because they sound delicious! A pressure cooker! My mother had one, as did both my grandma’s and I even gave my sister one for a wedding gift, although I never had one, surprisingly. Let us know how you like it and what you make with it.
I’m not sure when you will be able to fit a class in your already busy life, but if anyone can do it, you can!

    1. HI Linda,
Thanks for your kind words…and yes, if you ever see that candy bar, it’s best to leave it on the shelf. I’m glad I’ve had mine for the year…no more for me…

Well, my hubby wanted me to give the pressure cooker a try, but by the time I read the book on how to use it, find a recipe for the chicken breasts we had, figure it all out, then make some roasted potatoes my hubby wanted me to try, and get it on the table, it was 2:15 when we sat down to eat. It’s a good thing it was all good… or I’d of been going to plan B which would have been tuna fish sandwiches! It was really good…and my hubby liked it.
Somehow I’ll have to carve out time on Thursday evenings for the class. I’m hoping it’s small so I can ask lots of questions…
      Thanks Linda,
      Blessings, Jeanne

    1. Hi Christine,
I did have a really nice birthday and was truly lavished on by those around me…and all of my subscribers…
      Thanks Christine,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  2. So happy you had a wonderful birthday, Jeanne. I am a dark chocolate person, but I LOVE coconut. Looks like white chocolate and coconut was a hit with you! Everyone needs to indulge on their birthday as the calories never count on this day, right?

Maybe this is the pressure cooker I should have gotten, mine is a dud.

Hope it is sunny by you. We are on day 3 of dreary. It is so dark that I cannot take pictures outside.

    1. Thanks Cindy,
I hope you’re right about the calories not counting on your birthday…

Well, I cooked chicken breasts and then did herb roasted potatoes and it was wonderful… I’m sure glad that 6 or 7 year wait was worth it… of course I’ve only done 2 things with it…so I’m not an expert on it yet, but I’m pleased… sorry about yours…

It’s nice and sunny here…boy, you sure get hit with the dreary days, don’t you? You need more sunshine I think… hope it comes soon.
      Blessings, Jeanne

My Life, Uncategorized. Together, the categories you filed this under make a nice title for an autobiography. Daniel Patric Moynihan wrote a book called Maximum Feasible Misunderstanding. It’s one of my all time favorite titles. My sister said it sounded like her marriage.
I’m glad you had a wonderful birthday. I haven’t seen the white chocolate bar with coconut, but there is a dark chocolate bar with coconut that is also good. I think it’s also by Lindt.

    1. HI Marilyn,
I didn’t know anyone looked at those category things but me… how funny that you do…

I did have a great day and felt really loved by everyone… We got a call last night asking if it would be possible for us to pick up a student who wanted to attend our church this morning. He turned out to be an older guy, married with 2 kids. As we were giving him a ride back home, he had heard several people wishing me Happy Birthday, and before he got out of the car, he even wished me “Belated Birthday wishes!”

I had no self control over that candy bar…it was SO delicious… too delicious… I guess.
      Thanks Marilyn,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  4. Glad that you had such a nice Birthday. I am back after being in N. H. and Mass. for two weeks.
Have been cold turkey on computer and looking at fabric and dolls. Nice change but ready to get back to everyday like in Florida. Thinking no storm!. Missed your everyday blog.
    Sylvia

    1. Hi Sylvia,
I’m glad you made it safely back home and I bet no one is more thrilled than you… :o)

If you want you can catch up on the back “issues”… I mean back posts of my blog. Just click on the word BLOG in the header at the top and they will all be there, stacked one on top of the other…today’s, then yesterdays, then day before yesterdays… etc…

Hope you are all rested up and get back in your normal routine…
      Blessings, Jeanne

  5. So glad to hear you did some fun things on your birthday. What nice gifts and thoughtful gifts you received. You are such a sweetheart!!
The fabrics you received from you sister, well, her whole gift items were neat treasures. I love the selections of fabric you’ve been receiving lately, hers and the other fabric you’ve been showing us. They will all make adorable clothes.
I am not sure the Felicity I received is the one for me. I have to mull that dilemma over today. I don’t like having to return anything but her one flaw will bother me.
Have a lovely Sunday, Jeanne. Hard to believe we are at the end of August.

    1. HI Paula,
Thanks again for your birthday thoughts…but I have to get to the pressing issue… What’s the one flaw with your Felicity… I have to know…wonky eyes, dry hair, loose legs, no pincurls, shine marks on her face…???
or send me a picture through my email and see if I can guess it…
      Thanks Paula,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  6. I’m so happy for you, Jeanne, that you had such a nice birthday. I’m also happy to hear that Ross is a good place to shop because one is opening here, perhaps it’s already open, I’ll have to check.
I’m sure you’ll have a good time at your blogging class although I can’t imagine that the teacher knows more about it than you do. lol You will, however, be able to help the other students a lot and maybe give the teacher some hints.
I’ve never cooked with a pressure cooker but I’ve done a lot canning with one. I remember years ago canning corn by the hot water bath method, it took something like four to five hours (no air conditioning to cool the kitchen)…with the pressure cooker it takes minutes. Yours is so shiny and pretty, are you sure you want to use it and get it dirty? lol
Now that your birthday is officially over, I can to tell you #60 is a hard one.

    1. HI Jevne,
I did have a nice birthday and I feel SO much wiser, now that I’m 59!!!

I wouldn’t say that Ross’s is a great store… the clothing is sort of on the cheaper side, but if you need something to knock around in or just need casual clothes, it’s okay. I have found a few nicer dresses in there, but most are super mass produced and aren’t high quality.

I like their kitchen stuff, pans, storage containers, gadgets, etc… that is my favorite in the store. Rebecca shops there a lot and finds nice things, but she stops in there about every 3 or 4 days… I think she gets the good stuff…

Oh Jevne, you must be kidding about what I know about blogging. I’m so inexperienced when it comes to knowing how to do things. I can’t even get a picture of myself to show up in the comments section… or how to check on a few other stats in Google Analytics… but I just keep plodding along. When I found out Sarah, the woman who put together my blog for me, was going to Kenya for 6 months, I just about lost it… I was happy for her to get to see her family, but I was petrified that I’d do something wrong and not know how to fix it. This class is supposed to start with the basics… that’s what I didn’t see… because Sarah did it all for me. I just fill in what to say and do a few other things… I did add the counter myself, (YAY!) and also the Site Stats that lets me know what posts are the most popular and being looked at. I’m truly a novice when it comes to this techy stuff…

My pressure cooker WAS all nice and shiny… but now it’s got to be scrubbed…as my potatoes left their mark in the bottom… oh well, it had to happen sometime…

Okay, if birthday 60 is a hard one, I’m coming to your house so you can help me through it… thanks for the heads up!!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  7. P.S. I wonder if there is a recipe for making candy with coconut oil. I have tons of it for making soap and other products and I fry with it because husband is diabetic and it’s supposed to be the best oil to use for that. Did it look like white chocolate before you scarffed it down? lol

    1. Hi Jevne,
Maybe someone will see your comment and answer you about the coconut oil and candy… I don’t have a clue…
The candy bar squares looked just like the square on the front of the package, only just a little bit lighter. When you put it in your mouth, it almost dissolved… it was that good!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  8. So describe the Coconut candy…is it sort of like White chocolate? is it solid all the way through? I think I may have to try it…where did you find it? You had a great day! So glad..actually 60 wasn’t that bad…it’s the ones that start with 7 that make me nervous…
    Glad you had fun!

    1. HI Kathie,
Well, I see my candy bar was a big hit… with me AND with you all! My hubby got it at Walgreen’s. Kathie, it was sort of creamy white looking, like on the front of the box, in about 1-1/4″ squares. When the chocolate hits your tongue it sort of just starts to dissolve and when you chew it up there are tiny bits of coconut that make it so good! I wish I had another one, I’m sure I could describe it better if I had another one!!! NOT!!!
      Blessings, Jeanne
