Much Ado About Nothing… sorry to say…

You’re gonna say, “That’s all she’s got for today?” I’m sure you are! But it’s true… I have been too busy with Cindy the last few days! I’ve told you before, there’s no stopping us when we are together. We can get in so much trouble. I mean we can get so much done! :o) And we did! But I just can’t show you yet… my hubby gave me strict orders not to show any pictures yet…till he does something… but I had to show you a partial picture… just so you’d come back to see what I’m talking about!

So that’s all I can show you about that! Can you guess what we did???

I wanted to thank you for the wonderful comments and sweet memories you shared about you learning to sew (or not sew!) and about your kind wishes for my Aunt Evelyn on her 95th birthday! All of your stories were so interesting to read and think about! Several of you had an Aunt Evelyn too! Weren’t they wonderful??? I told my cousin Sue I would send her the link to my blog post and she could read it together with my Aunt Evelyn and your comments will be the icing on the cake! Thanks so much!

We had a great time visiting with cousins and catching up with what’s going on in their lives. I love this picture with my mom and Aunt Evelyn holding hands!

Well, I hate that I don’t have more… but again… orders from my hubby! Let me tell you, though, IT’S WONDERFUL!!!

See you soon,
Blessings, Jeanne

Hmmm…..my guess is that you either put new handles on your cupboards (or did you do that already….) or painted the backsplash. As I recall, you were planning to paint it, and that looks like paper or something draped over part of your countertop.

I do love that picture of your mom and your Aunt Evelyn holding hands–what a sweet picture!

Hope you had a good Sunday. We had a potluck dinner after church today, and I probably made Way too much baked beans for our smallish group–I guess Ron and I will be eating it for at least a couple of days if not more!! He doesn’t mind, but it’s not my absolute favorite….

  2. I am really stumped, Jeanne, about what in the world is the meaning of that picture! I am trying to visualize where this particular part of your kitchen is, and I am drawing a blank! You are really good at making us hang on and wondering! I hope we see “it soon!

That’s a wonderful picture of your relatives, and especially cute with your mom and her sister holding hands! They are both very pretty, and I can see the resemblance between them. Maybe those “two” on the other end will be doing something similar in another 40 or so years from now!! 😉

  3. Hi Jeanne
Humm looks like the backsplash for the oven / micro, and I must say I do like your choice of material but then I like “all” your choices. Can’t wait to see the reveal.

I’m sure you enjoyed your time with your sister Cindy and celebrating your Aunt Evelyn’s 95th birthday! The family picture is great and I am sure you all had so much fun. I had a great Aunt Evelyn too but she didn’t live close. She would come for holidays from time to time and I do recall she was loads of fun!

This has been a busy summer and I can’t believe it’s almost the middle of August. Our grandson is leaving already to head back to college in OK (we’re in MI) so had family party over the weekend.

Have been enjoying catching up on your posts , especially recently where you shared your catalog inspirations and earlier Barbie fashions. My mom had a sewing machine but I never sewed until the required home ec class where we all had to make a skirt AND everyone had to wear it to school on the same day or you didn’t pass the class – so funny! I am sure now that would not fly but I think the teacher knew that we would all be more diligent in our efforts knowing we HAD to wear it.

Also, once again a big thanks for the lovely slip. Elizabeth won’t let me take it off her.
Wishing you all a wonderful week

  4. Your kitchen snapshot looks enticing, Jeanne…I’ll be looking forward to the reveal.

What a lovely looking family you’re a part of. Your mom and Aunt Evelyn surely have much to be grateful for with such fine looking folks to call family. I’m glad you were all able to get together and celebrate.

    Blessings.

  5. For some reason my posts are disappearing. I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong. Hopefully this one will get through.
It’s very exciting to see the clue you gave us in the picture. I’m loving what I see. Can’t wait to see the kitchen surprise. Everything so far has been beautiful and well thought out.

What a nice picture of your family. I hope Aunt Evelyn had a wonderful time. By the way, I too have an Aunt Evelyn- I’ve always known her as Aunt Ebby. One of your relatives looks like an uncle of mine. My uncle is long gone but the resemblance startled me at first.

Got all my stuff boxed up and my husband took our donations to the animal group’s yardsale. It’s purpose was to help with the spaying and neutering of so many doggies and kitties. Makes me feel hopeful for the future .
Well, hope this gets through. Have a lovely and blessed day!

  6. What a spry young thing is your Aunt Evelyn. Wonderful group photo too.
As to the kitchen photo, you’ve got me. I believe you needed to complete the whatever you call it behind the stove. Stove surround? Stove backing? But, not sure what the white piece may be? I don’t think it is the stove top. And if it is indeed the space for the stove, what is above must be the stove hood or fan/exhaust cover. Weren’t you going to build one? Hoping we find out tomorrow.
About 1:45 last night I kept hearing this clinking sound on the roof. Thought we had some strange animal running around. Just a quick pitter patter and then again later. Maybe we were having some hail? But not quite like that. This morning, I noticed that our deck covering was wet and it looked like it had rained. But, we have only had heat and no rain in the forecast. Very strange. Humm…. Well after some thought, I believe that the somewhere in the neighbors recently landscaped yard, an irrigation cap must have blown and when the timer came on, it was spraying our roof/yard and not their place. Have to check it out more later.
I’m sure you have a busy week ahead. School is starting here so many parents are quite happy to return to the routine. 🙂

  7. I’m so glad you and everyone else had a wonderful time. What a nice family. When the time comes, try to inherit that beautiful white hair.
Like Linda, I can’t figure out what you’ve done, but I’m sure it’s wonderful — you said so — and we’ll all tune in all week looking to see what it is.
When Cindy leaves, you’ll take your mom to see Deb, so you are in for more nice times. I think you have a really good week coming up.

  8. I didn’t receive the last post until a day late for some reason. I hope your aunt had a wonderful birthday. Wow, what a milestone!! I enjoyed seeing all your sewing creations. How wonderful that you were doing 4H at ten. You had an eye for style even as a young girl.
I’m thinking that is a picture of the area behind your stove and you put up that neat tin alternative wallpaper. I want some of that in the kitchen as well. Our church has those real tin ceiling painted white in the sanctuary and I have always loved it.
Glad your having fun with Cindy. Having a sister must be wonderful.

  9. Love the family pic! What a handsome group. Who are the rest? All your family or some in laws? Your Aunt And Mom looks sweet together.
I seem to have inherited all the family pictures and it’s so sad no one seems to want to take any interest in them or who they are.
The kitchen pic is fun because it is so close …can see the counter closer and like it even better. Is that empty spot getting a new appliance?
You and Cindy have a good week!

  10. Dear Jeanne, I am always happy for you when your sister visits. Yeaaaaaa!
    I love the family photo.
