More doll dresses to review from 2016… Day 4

Today’s dress list will be a bit shorter than the previous days and we’ll finish up tomorrow. I hope it doesn’t mess anyone up for the last day to be on Saturday. That will give me enough time to tally up all the votes so we can ALL see who will be crowned the winner of “Dress of the Year 2016!” I’m pretty excited to see which dress it will be.

(The list will be shorter because I was at my mom’s late and we are getting up and going to a birthday breakfast for her early in the morning. I had to make my post a little shorter for times sake.)

If you’ve been missing the last few days, I’ve been showing ALL the dresses I made in 2016 and each day everyone has the opportunity to vote on the dress that day that they like the best. You can leave a comment below or send me an email and I’ll get the votes all tabulated. The plan is to finish up the doll dresses on Saturday, and then on Monday I will show you the top winners from each day and you can all vote on who you’d like to see get “Dress of the Year for 2016!”

If you missed any of the last few posts and wanted to go back and vote for your favorite, click on the links below and leave a comment on that day or “contact me” and I can add your choices.

DAY 1

DAY 2

DAY 3

So let’s get started with the dresses for today.

First up is Rebecca in a pretty Civil War dress that I’m sure you’re going to remember… it was called “Music Lessons.” I thought I was all done finding pictures for this dress, when Addy said to me, “Don’t forget to show a picture of me in the dress!” *sigh*

Patsy Tonner can’t wait for you to see her dress again. This one was made in late September and was called “Just in Time for Fall.” I still can’t believe I had this little square of felt that was the exact color I needed for her jacket! (Trixie got on a little modeling time with this one too!)

Tiny little 8″ Ten Ping is thrilled that you get to see her in this two jacket dress set again. One jacket from Ultrasuede and the other from a pretty wool felt. I called this one “I Can Dress Myself.”

It’s Kirsten’s turn again. This time she’s in a pretty blue prairie dress that sets off her eyes. This set was called “Prettiest Girl on the Prairie.”

In October I decided to give in and get Willa, one of the American Girl 14″ Wellie Wishers dolls. She’s a little cutie and I’ve enjoyed making a few dresses for her. The first one was called “Willa’s Christmas Charm.”

I also bought a Hearts for Hearts girl named Nahji and she wants to remind you how she looked in the dress… so here she is…

I was so enamored with Willa, I turned right around and made her another dress… This one was called “Fall is Here.” Again, Nahji and Willa will both show you this dress set.

So this ends Friday’s dresses…so sorry… but there will be one last day tomorrow. Please leave a comment below or “contact Me” and let me know your favorites so we can find out what dress deserves Dress of the Year for 2016!

See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

  1. I like Willa’s new clothes a lot, and I really like Kirsten’s dress, which seems to me to match her temperament. Much as I want to choose something that’s not Civil War era, the bonnet, the petticoat, the pin, the waist and sleeve detail of Rebecca’s dress make it today’s winner for me.

Wish your mom a happy birthday for me.

    1. HI Marilyn,
I’m glad it was a little easier to choose a dress today… I knew I picked the right model for the Civil War fabric when I held it up to Rebecca’s eyes. So glad you liked it!

We had a nice birthday breakfast, but I didn’t see your wish in time…I’ll tell her the next time I see her. Thanks so much!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  2. Marilyn beat me again!! I must make up my mind quickly, since this is my “Willie” day! It’s the first dress with Rebecca modeling! Like Marilyn says, it all the special details that make that dress so exquisite. The bonnet is just adorable, and the pin, details at the waist and that gorgeous slip make it a winner in my book!

So glad this list was shorter to decide on, because all those dresses are perfectly capable of winning!

    1. HI Linda,
Oh, how Rebecca must be beaming, knowing that she’s gotten the first 2 votes from the first 2 voters! :o)
Maybe I should have just done 6 each day, but I thought that would drag it out too long…
I hope you had a “Willie-ful” day today!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  3. Willa and Nahji in the brown dress with the apron, Ten Ping with the two lovely choices of jackets and Rebecca: What a choice to have to make, but Rebecca with the petticoat and bonnet wins for me today.

    1. Hi Susette,
Oh dear, now I might have to watch Rebecca to make she doesn’t start gloating about her 3 votes so far!
      Thanks so much Susette,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  4. Rebecca’s dress (and slip) are very pretty, but my fave today is the “Fall is Here” dress on Willa. The brown floral dress with the checked apron is just lovely.

    1. HI Carolyn,
…and Rebecca’s streak is over… I’m glad you liked Willa’s dress! I did too! She is such a little cutie! I wonder how many little girls got her for Christmas…or any other Wellie Wisher…
      Thanks Carolyn,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  5. “Music Lessons” gets my vote today. In addition to all the reasons given previously, I just love the fabric.

    1. Thank you Charlotte A,
I appreciate your vote and you’ve just made Rebecca smile again! I loved that fabric the instant I saw it, and knew it would some day be a Civil War dress…
      Blessings, Jeanne

  6. This is so hard. I think I will go back and have to do a pick from all of the dresses. Just for me, because there are so many winners each day. For today, I pick Nahji wearing Fall is here with the checked apron.
I think a breakfast birthday is such a great idea for your mom. Bet she loves it.
Taking my aunt to a knitting get together today. Hoping I can learn how to even cast on stitches.
Second day trying to get all of my 10ers dressed in their Ugly sweaters before the holidays are completely over.

    1. HI Joy,
Oh, so we have something new… Nahji in the brown! She did look spectacular I thought!

We had a nice time at breakfast. An IHOP just opened up in town and it was fun to go to a new place.
I hope you learned a little bit about knitting today… that sounds like fun to me…

Just tell your girls the Ugly Sweater contest is in January because everyone was too busy during the holidays to decorate their sweaters. I’m sure they’d go along with whatever you say!
      Thanks Joy,
      Blessings, Jeanne

    1. Thank you Angela,
I’m so glad you liked it enough to comment! Thanks for your vote!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  7. Tin Ping I can dress myself, is sitting on my desk as we are writing these comments, I love it and have not been able to change her, I also love Kirstens…. I will get a Kirsten dress sometime this year if you are making them… thanks again, Happy New years..be safe all!
    Robin

    1. HI Robin,
Awww…that blesses me so much that Ten Ping and you like her dress so much! :o)

Yes, I will be making more Kirsten dresses this year… I LOVE making dirndls very much and like Spring and Summer ones because of the vibrant colors you can use…
      Thanks so much!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  8. Again, they’re all lovely, lovely and I could “eat each one of them up”, but, if I have to pick, I’d choose-Rebecca’s “Music Lessons”.

    Blessings.

    1. Thank you Becky,
Well, it looks Rebecca is the clear winner of the day…at least up till now… it might change later on in the day… but she’s beaming on the dolly shelf.
      Thanks so much Becky,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  9. Late to comment, but I think you would know I would pick Rebecca/Addy for today. I absolutely love the bonnet!!

    1. HI Laura,
Yes, I was almost 100% sure of which one you’d pick! Thanks so much Laura,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  10. Yes, there are fewer dresses today, but the choice is still a difficult one. Because these designs are more recent, the details of them are still fresh in my mind, as I’m sure they are for you, too, Jeanne. Some of my favorite details in this group include Rebecca’s face-framing double-ruffle ruched bonnet and ruffly-tiered petticoat; Trixie’s delicately embroidered jacket and sparkly blue slip; Ten Ping’s sweet rosebud print and two adorable jackets; Kirsten’s unexpected button-waist detail and vintage hankie apron; Willa’s and Naji’s tiny double-breasted buttons and darling deep flounce; and Willa’s and Naji’s contrast-piping waist detail and charming checked apron with pocket. No time for a blind vote today, and no rhyme or reason for my choice, except……I love it! “Fall is Here” is my favorite today because it complements Willa’s coloring so nicely, suits her personality to a “T,” and…..is just too cute for words! My apologies to all the other girls! All your dresses are a work of art!

Happy (belated) Birthday wishes to your momma, Jeanne. May all her birthday wishes come true, and may god pour out His richest blessings upon her throughout the coming year!

    1. Hi Anne,
I too, thought the brown looked exceptionally cute on Willa with her syrawberry blonde curls and on Nahji, even though I’d consider her to be a winter and look better in winter tones.
Thank you for your birthday wishes to my mom. She could use some wishes as last night Deb and I talked to her about moving to an assisted living place. She was NOT happy with us. It had to be done…
      Thanks Anne,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  11. Well, no Little Darling to sway me today… 🙂 So…. I always like the Civil War era dresses you make for your American Girl dolls – Rebecca’s “Music Lessons” is wonderful with all its details. But I also really like Willa in “Fall is Here”. The brown and white check pinafore really makes it stand out. My vote goes to Rebecca and Addy in “Music Lessons”.

  12. This one was harder for me because there were lots of details in each dress that I liked. The double puff sleeve in Music Lessons, the lace trim on Ten Ping’s skirt is gorgeous, the gathered bodice on Kirsten’s dress are all special details, and I really loved to see the sleeve band on Willa’s gathered sleeve for the Christmas Charm dress! The multi ruffled slip took me back to the first one, though, so my vote is for Music Lessons.
