May I present Patsy Tonner as the “Snow Princess!”

I worked most of the day trying to get Patsy Tonner’s “Snow Princess” set finished and I’m happy to report… IT IS! Patsy can hardly contain herself and I’m pretty excited to have it completed too! She just loves the way she looks in this shade of blue and can’t stop looking in the mirror! I never dreamed when I bought this blue snowflake fabric down in Springfield, MO, on Girl’s Week, that it would turn out so sweet for dear Patsy. Laura said I should make a pair of ice skates for the dress… well, maybe if I had more time I might try, but I need to get moving onto the next Christmas dress, for Molly, so Patsy will just be wearing her black shoes with it this time! Thanks again Cindy, for the name “Snow Princess” for this set. I think it’s the PERFECT name!

Well, without waiting any longer, do you want to see some pictures?

It was fun creating this set for Patsy and I hope whoever wins it will be thrilled to use it for Patsy’s Christmas dress this year.

I’ll do my best to get it listed on Ebay Thursday evening. When it becomes active you can click the picture at the right side bar and be taken directly to the listing, or if you get your posts email style, you can click HERE.

I hope it turned out just like you were hoping it would…

See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

  1. So pretty, Jeanne! I love the way the outfit has silver sparkles that catch the eye, and the blue is just perfect for Patsy. The hat is adorable and I just love the second picture which highlights the side of it. You could have sprinkled some fake snow around the setting, but that would be kind of a mess! It is just so perfect and anyone with a doll that size would be thrilled to have it. How big is Patsy? I know smaller than AG dolls, but bigger than Ten Ping?

The silver stockings are just the perfect touch, and Rueben just matches the outfit to a “T”!

    1. Thanks for your kind compliments on Patsy’s dress, Linda.
I appreciate them very much and am very happy with how her dress turned out. I can’t believe I had the exact color of blue wool felt for her hat and coat!
Patsy is 10″ tall and is a bit on the “stocky” side.
I was going to put a little “white” animal with her, but found out I didn’t have anything white, so silver it was… even though Reuben is on the darker side, I still decided to call her pet Reuben!
      Thanks so much, Linda,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  2. Beautiful Christmas outfit! She looks so sweet. You did a great job! Love the jacket. Jacket looks like it is one piece. How did you do that without having it bulky? She probably won’t want to take it off till after Christmas!

    1. HI Sylvia,
Thank you so much for your kind words about Patsy’s new Christmas dress. She likes it, I like it, and hopefully everyone else likes it too.
The jacket is one piece… I just kept tweaking my pattern, joining the seams, and making it fit a little closer to her body, until all I had was one seam under her arms and down her side. I made the seam very small and trimmed it close.
Oh, she’ll have to take it off…and soon… for the new winner of it…
      Thanks again Sylvia,
      Blessings, Jeanne

I’ve never seen Patsy look better. This may be the ultimate Patsy dress, the one to which all future dresses will be compared. I suddenly have the desire to see a Regency Snow Princess dress, and a colonial one, and maybe a 1904 version. You would grow very tired of the colors — a Mary Ellen Snow Princess dress would be charming — but it would make a nice set of photographs.

You finished the dress — that means using the off/on button for sewing is working. Are you using the slow setting? Doll clothes require sewing very short and precise distances. How is your foot responding to this new exercise? I’m discovering that when I sit, I often lean forward, which puts pressure on my feet. I’ve been watching, and I see lots of other people doing the same thing. I lean forward when I sew, so I’ve been wondering how you manage.

    1. Thank you Marilyn,
I only bought a yard of this blue snowflake fabric, but maybe I should have bought more… it sounds like most any of my girls could wear it!…at least according to you!

Well, all the sewing I did yesterday, did put a strain on my foot and it’s pretty sore today. I’m like you, I lean forward too, so my feet are sort of wrapped under my chair. I need to sew in shorter segments today, I think. Maybe 15 minutes sewing, 30 minutes with my foot up, 15 minutes sewing…etc… I’ll have to get it figured out.
      Thanks Marilyn,
      Blessings, Jeanne

This is so funny. I wonder if they have organizations for sewing addicts.
Perhaps if you wrote to the shop where you got the snowflake fabric, they could send you a bolt. Or maybe you’d be just as happy using some of the beautiful fabrics you already have. Would Molly give up her plaid for snowflakes? I can hear your blog followers saying, “NO!”

        1. You are too funny Marilyn,
Sewing Addicts? I could probably be the President!!! Well, last week I could have been…not today!
I wouldn’t mind a bolt of that blue snowflake fabric. It’s very pretty and holding it up to my girls, there’s not a one who wouldn’t look pretty in it! But Molly is keeping her red plaid fabric!!!

…and then there’s Fabric Collectors Anonymous, of which I am an “Acquisitions Officer”!! LOL (Actually I have a magnet and a tote bag with that on them!)

          2. Charlotte Trayer

Patsy’s outfit is just beautiful!! Love that fabric–I think I need some, too! LOL

What kind of fabric did you make her thigh-highs from? It’s really nice, and goes well with the outfit.

I’m sure this one won’t last long on ebay!

  4. Patsy’s dress and accessories are beautiful. The snowflakes on her jacket and the one on her hat are just wintery perfect. And her socks with the silver threads…you’ve outdone yourself again! And little Reuben…how precious is that?
I forget too but how tall is Patsy?
Have a great day. Hope the foot is mending itself.
    Blessings

    1. HI Paula,
I appreciate your very kind comments on Patsy’s dress. She is 10″ tall and a bit on the chunky side. When I take pictures today for my Ebay listing, I’m hoping to get out my Christmas props and make her background a little more “holiday-ish” and colorful…
      Thanks so much Paula,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  5. Jeanne, I am so in love with Patsy’s new Christmas ensemble ! She looks stunning in the light blue and silver combination. Everything about this outfit is complete. Very nicely done!!

I hope your foot is healing so that within a couple of weeks you will be back to normal activities. I’m just wondering what colors are showing themselves ….. purple, blue, green, yellow ?????

    1. Hi Jeannie,
Thank you very much Jeannie, for your sweet compliments on Patsy’s Christmas dress. I’m so thrilled to have ONE down…now only (I forget how many) to go!
My foot is a pale yellow with some splotches of purple on the side. It’s still very sore and every once in a while it feels like a bolt of electricity hits in this one spot… it just about takes my breath away…
Sewing takes my mind off of my foot. YAY!
      Thanks so much Jeannie,
      Blessings, Jeanne

    1. Thanks Regina,
I’m glad you liked Patsy’s dress set…and little Reuben too! He’s my last Schnauzer in my Dolly Toy Box… I’m going to have to find more…
      Blessings, Jeanne

  6. This is is just exquisite, Jeanne. I love the fabric. Is that glitter on the fabric or a sparkle thread woven in? I have used the fabric with glitter before and had a terrible with the glitter getting everywhere.

Now I want a Patsy doll!!

    1. HI Anna,
Thank you very much for your sweet comments on Patsy’s new Christmas dress. The dress has little speckles of glitter on it, not silver threads woven in it. Some glitter fabrics get ALL over the place, but this one is pretty good about not getting glitter everywhere. I was impressed and even when I ironed it, they stayed put, unlike some that can almost be ironed off.
Oh, I hope you get a Patsy doll…she’s a fun one to dress. Just type in “Patsy Tonner” on Ebay and you can find all sorts for sale…Just make sure you get one with “straight” eyes and not one with wonky ones… one going this way and one going that way… sort of disturbing…
      Thanks Anna,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  7. The white furry trim is so refreshing. Maybe you can add it to another winter dress. Think you will sell this one fast. There appears to be a market for well made creative 10er clothes, especially since Tonner is coming out with some new models next year I think. BTW I think Debs has 10er skates, but you’d have to add that into your pricing. I just purchased a pair of silver shoes. Would go lovely with the outfit too.

    1. Thanks so much Joy,
I like the white furry trim too. I should have bought more of it as I only have a piece about 12 x 12″ left… boo hoo… it makes such nice trim for the smaller girls.
I was wondering if Tonner was going to have some new 10″ girls….
Skates would be cute with this dress, but the winner will have to buy their own if they want them. A pair of silvery shoes would have been fun for me to have… rats!
Thanks for your sweet thoughts, Joy,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  8. I wondered too how your foot felt after a long time sewing. Good idea to rest every few minutes. The small seams on the jacket required pretty precise attention. Lovely Holliday outfit to take Patsy into the new year.

    1. HI Jan,
Yes, resting seems to be the key to making it stop aching…
Thank you so much for your kind words about Patsy’s dress set. I really enjoyed making this one! Now to Molly’s dress….
      Blessings, Jeanne

  9. Charlotte Trayer

Not sure how that one comment of mine ended up way up there under my previous comment to Marilyn’s post! Sorry about that.

    1. HI Charlotte,
I saw your comments about Patsy’s tights… they came from a repurposed knit top from the thrift shop. I find them when it gets closer to the holidays. It is very thin…almost like a leotard for a dance tutu…They are very sparkly in person…
I would be hard pressed to be beaten out by someone else’s fabric stash…but I’m sure there are “those” of you out there who just might do it… My hubby wouldn’t believe it unless he saw it though…
      Thanks Charlotte,
      Blessings, Jeanne

      1. Charlotte Trayer

Thanks Jeanne. I sometimes repurpose garments like that, too. I’ll have to keep my eyes open next time I’m in a thrift shop!

        Charlotte

    1. Thanks so much Jano,
I really enjoyed making this Snow Princess set for Patsy… it was probably my favorite for her so far.. everything just turned out so pretty for her…
      Thank you so much,
      Blessings, Jeanne
