Let’s get some Easter Dresses made… Here’s Patsy Tonner’s…

I looked on the calendar and Easter is one month from tomorrow, so I thought I better get cookin’ on some Easter dresses for my girls or someone will be left out if I’m not careful! I wasn’t sure who to start with so I started with the littlest girl in my bunch… Patsy Tonner. She wanted a pretty blue dress and she specifically told me a “girly ” one! I think she was pleased with it, because I showed it to her and she slipped it right on and smiled! That’s always a good sign.

I’m not totally finished with her dress. I still have to put the snaps on the back and I might make a slip, but it was finished enough I wanted to show you. It seems like it’s been forever since I had a dress to show you…a recent one, I mean. Patsy’s dress is made from a tiny aqua blue and cream tiny floral print and has some vintage lace on the bodice and the hem.

I used some glass seed beads to do a little handiwork on the lace at the waist. Short puffed sleeves with elastic make this dress perfect if you have a little cream sweater for your doll. Unfortunately I don’t knit…so if you don’t have a sweater, you better hope it’s warm on Easter morning!

Her skirt is full and just the perfect length to show off those little chubby legs of hers. The dress will close in the back with snaps and have tiny buttons to hide them. It opens all the way to the hem for easy off and on.

Patsy picked out the bear from my Dolly Toy Box when she saw the fabric, and has been holding tightly to her.

She wanted a hat and not a hair bow so I fashioned one out of the fabric. It has a little bit of decoration at the front brim.

I will do my best to get this listed on Ebay Wednesday evening, but no promises. My little Columbian friend, “Sara” (my sewing buddy) is coming over with her mom tomorrow to bake cupcakes for Sara’s birthday party at school. Her mom has never baked cupcakes before and wants to learn how to do it. It may take longer than I think, so that’s why I’m not promising to get Patsy’s dress listed…but I’ll try.

With the winter weather that is supposed to start tomorrow, I’m praying that you all stay safe and warm in your homes… that’s where I’ll be.

See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

  1. So sweet, Jeanne! While I don’t have these tiny dolls, it certainly is fun to see what you have cooked up for them! I was wondering how you learned to do hats too. Do you have a pattern or something?

Have fun with Sara and her mom. Funny, I can’t imagine how anyone would not know how to make cupcakes, but then she is from Columbia. Don’t they bake cakes? Just never thought about it! Well, stay in and have fun, this weather isn’t helping anything, is it?

    1. HI Linda,
How did I learn to do hats? By trial and error…and I DO MEAN ERROR. I bet this little hat pattern has been tweaked 50 times… no joke… and still I think it needs more. I had so many patterns for it, and then I forgot which one was the right one, so I had to do them all to see…silly me!

We are being pelted with sleet like crazy right now, so the plan for cupcakes may have to wait… I’m not sure Sara will agree, but my hubby thinks so. If nothing else, I can make the cupcakes and take them to Sara’s school and we’ll have to have a cupcake lesson later on. Sara’s father is the one who does all the cooking, but they usually don’t bake. They eat bread every day but they buy it from a bakery in Columbia.

      Thanks Linda,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  2. BTW, we will not need sweater on Easter Sunday. (We probably will need coats!!!) We’ve got a -2 wind chill this morning so it is getting warmer. Haha! I didn’t realize Easter is only one month away. If it’s sunny and in the 40s I will be happy. I’m not asking for much am I?

Your Patsy wears blue so well. I love all of the extra touches you added to Patsy’s Easter outfit. I’m always a sucker for beading and lace and the tiny print is super sweet.

Enjoy your cupcake making day today.

    1. HI Cindy,
You might be right about the coats on Easter. We are being hit with a sleet storm right now and it’s not looking good for our cupcake session. We might have to postphone it and buy store bought ones for Sara’s party. (Or me make them…)

Thanks for the compliments on Patsy’s dress. She liked it…that’s all that matters…
      Blessings, Jeanne

    1. Thank you Regina,
Blue is always a good choice for Patsy because of her eyes.
      Blessings, Jeanne

Very pretty dress for Patsy. I love that her eyes are blue/green and look perfect with this sweet dress. Her hat may certainly be needed if our weather doesn’t warm up for Easter. I am with Cindy on the need for a warm coat and boots, possibly a wool muffler with the way the cold and snow have affected most of the country. It would be a shame to cover up that cute little dress!

    1. Hi Jeannie,
Yay… I got Patsy’s dress almost finished. Thanks for the encouraging words! “Designers Block” is no fun!
Surely this last round of bad weather will be the last of it, don’t you think? I’m certainly hoping so!
      Thanks so much Jeannie,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  4. Patsy’s dress is adorable. Again the detail is always beautiful. She does look happy in it and her little bear matches her dress perfectly.

Be safe in the cold, ice and snow. My hubby doesn’t want to go home till it’s warmer and there is no snow!

    1. HI Paula,
It might be July before all this snow stops! Surely I’m joking…
Thanks for the compliments on Patsy’s dress.
      Have a safe trip home…whenever that is…
      Blessings, Jeanne

  5. Love Robin’s Egg blue…or am I just trying to think about Spring?
The hat is so darn cute too!
    Stay off that ice!

    1. Hi Kathie,
This morning when my left, he gave me instructions not to go to the mailbox today! So I might have a million dollar check sitting out there in the snow, but I can’t get it. :o(

I did see quite a few robins in the yard yesterday, but today they have been replaced by snowbirds! Maybe they decided to cancel Spring this year! Hope not!
      Blessings to you Kathie, Jeanne

  6. It’s such a cute dress! I just drug a pair of boots and a sweater out of the closet to wear to work tomorrow. I guess the cold weather is not over after all.

    1. HI Carolyn,
We got about 4-5 more inches today and it had just all melted yesterday, except for the big piles… guess you’re right…it’s not over yet!
      Be careful in it…
      Blessings, Jeanne
