Let’s finish up with the last of my Valentine Doll Dresses…

Can you believe it? I still have more pink and a few red dresses to share. I told you I had a lot, and see… I wasn’t kidding!

This is Bitty Bethany, by Helen Kish in a dress I called “Cherry Ruffles.”

  1. All are so ,beautiful. And I love the way you sewed the flowers in the buttons. Would never had dreamed something like that could be done

    1. Hi Lynn,
Well, it appears my button sewing was a hit. I’ll have to share how I did that in a post. I wrote it down, so I won’t forget.
Thanks so much for your comments.
      Blessings, Jeanne

An amazingly detailed and imaginative collection, beautifully sewn. Love the tiny buttonholes. Thanks for sharing all pictures and the sewing tips. Happy sewing in the cold, cold weather.

    1. HI Susette,
Thanks for admiring all my dolly dresses. As I look back over them, I too, am amazed at how many different ones I’ve made just in pinks and reds.
Today it’s dishes…I’ve got to start on my pile of dishes… Saturday and Sunday were just too packed to get them done, so first things first…dishes… THEN maybe some sewing!
      Thanks Susette,
      Blessings, Jeanne

Clever girl with those buttons !! These are the little embellishments that add so much of your magical touch to your dresses. Your sewing room is really a happy place. I’d like to be a mouse in the corner as you work and your mind swirls around the fabric, laces and ribbons {with the sun shining in the window}. Reminds me of the little birds as the created Cinderella’s ball gown in the old time Disney movie. You are truly gifted with the blessing of imagination !!!

    1. Awww Jeannie,
What nice things to say about my “sewing habits!” You wouldn’t want to be a mouse today…
my sewing room is a mess. I’m getting ready for our Married Couple’s Valentine party on Thursday and I was wrapping gifts in there so paper is all over the floor…and rolls of paper are everywhere.
Thank you for the lovely picture you painted of me in my sewing room! It’s not quite as nice as Cinderella but it was wonderful being compared to her just the same!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  4. I love the buttons…how do you do that?!! Wonderful dresses, as always..especially the Kirsten because I love her best!

    1. Hi Jane,
Well, I am going to HAVE to do a post on the button idea….apparently everyone liked it! That pink and white Kirsten dress was a favorite of mine too. My mother in law gave me a big bag of doilies and napkins and dresser scarves. The one on Kirsten’s head was one that was damaged on one side, so I decided to use it for a scarf for her. It was exceptionally pretty in person.
      Thanks so much, Blessings, Jeanne

  5. Just love all the dresses and those darling buttons. How clever and unique your ideas are…they never cease to amaze me. The dress Wren has on is so beautiful. Such feminine looking material. And of course Molly’s dresses are perfect!
Good wishes for your Valentine Couples party. I am sending off my sons’ Valentine cards today in hopes they get them by the 14th and my husband and I will plan a special dinner for that evening.
Have a great and blessed day!

    1. Hi Paula,
Thanks so much for thinking my dresses are pretty and for your kind words. I think that pink dress on Wren was my favorite one for her. That little white fluffy puppy was the perfect accessory for the dress.
I’m putting the finishing touches on my party and just found out yesterday my help is needed to decorate some tables for a Valentine party for the singles at our church! I’m going shopping today to finalize it. The color theme they chose is red, white and black. I looked on Pinterest and found some really pretty table settings that I hope to replicate!
I’m hoping things are settled down enough to have a nice dinner with my hubby too, on the 14th!
      Thank you Paula,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  6. Well Jeanne, I don’t know what more I can say besides what all the other people say! All those dresses are adorable, and yes, the buttons, so unique and darling! You sure hit it out of the box when you decided to sew doll clothes! Which brings me to ask, did you ever work in an office, or a setting that wasn’t sewing? Did you start sewing (as a job) straight out of college? I can’t imagine you sitting and typing all day, but you had to have started somewhere!!
That cherry dress reminds me of a cherry dress I had when in 3rd grade. I always made sure I wore it on George Washington’s birthday, which is coming up soon! There was no President’s Day back then, so we had school, but learned about George, and my mother always made cherry pie that day too! And Kirsten’s outfit is just amazing! Love the delicate lace hat and sweet apron!

    1. Hi Linda,
Thank you for your kind compliments on my doll dresses. I told everyone I had a lot of pink and red dresses… It was fun for me to see them all again too!
I didn’t start sewing for the public until 1989… up until then I worked in retail stores. I had a consignment shop called “Back of the Closet.” One of my bosses at a ladies clothing store backed me and we did it for several years, but I was becoming a bit haggard running back and forth running it and doing Phil’s windows for his ladies store. I was the one who did all his window displays. The store had 2 great big windows and one smaller but tall window, besides all the displays inside the store. I was a sales clerk but I did the windows in between customers. I loved doing the windows and many of them were quite unique. We had super fancy lingerie in the store, so the narrow window was usually done with lingerie. It was my favorite to do. Maybe I can find some pictures of my windows…

Then I worked at the University as a secretary in the Cinema and Photography department for a few years before my kids were born. After they were born, I just wanted to stay at home and be with them, so I told George if I could help earn some money from home could I not work out of the house. It all worked out and I haven’t worked outside the home since 1987. I officially began my sewing business in 1989 and it’s just grown ever since. We homeschooled our kids all the way through high school and I was able to still sew as they studied.
      Okay, enough on that…
I always liked Bitty Bethany in that dress…especially when she had her hands in her pockets! It’s sweet that Bitty’s dress reminded you of one you wore in 3rd grade!
      Thanks Linda,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  7. Those may be my favorite group of dresses yet..probably because I love Riley and love tiny florals ..and those buttons OMGosh! Brilliant!

    Kathie

    1. Kathie,
Thanks so much for your compliments on my dresses…it looks like a “button tutorial” must come soon… everyone liked them…
      Thanks so much,
      Blessings, Jeanne
