Let there be LACE!

How much do you like lace? How much do you LOVE lace? I’m a LOVER of lace… so you can imagine how thrilled I was when I received this package in the mail from that sister of mine, Cindy! She went to a place called Luckett’s a few days ago, somewhere a ways from her house in Gettysburg. I think I’d drive half a day to see this lace in person. But *alas* I have my sister who knows what I like…so I didn’t have to! Take a look at the ones she sent me…they are unbelievably dainty…

If you click on any of the pictures they will enlarge.

Here’s the rack they came from. Couldn’t you just spend hours looking through them and the rest of the stuff in this booth?

Here’s a little taste of some of the other vendors who sell at Luckett’s.

Do you see something in the pictures you’d like?

It’s a short post because I’ve got a long day… Happy Saturday to you all!

See you Monday in the A.M.
Blessings, Jeanne

  1. Hi Jeanne! This will be short too, because we leave this morning for a short trip to Branson, just for shopping! Oh goodness, that is a wonderful selection of lace that Cindy sent! I just know they will be put to good use!
Oh gee, all those beautiful things in the antique store! I love to look at places like that and could stay there for hours! I do love that beautiful gold/tan coffee table in the last picture. Now that is something I could use!

    1. Hi Linda,
Oh I hope you have fun shopping in Branson. One of these days you and your hubby are going to have to stop at the Spring Creek Tea Room. It is filled with antiques and the food is the best! It’s not too girly…men are there everytime I’ve been there.
I see several ladies have picked the coffee table…I like looking in these places too.
      Have fun on your trip!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  2. “Yes” on the coffee table! I’m afraid to go into stores like that now. I might see something I think I can’t live without. I’ve made a few good finds in them in the past, though. I may have to go to Antique Row not far from here to see if they have any of the lace somewhere in their stashes but with blinders on to the rest. Have fun, Linda.

I received a message from Kathy about my Mary Hoyer doll and will be sending her on to be restrung. Thanks, Jeanne, for forwarding my message and Kathy for the reply.

    1. Hi Susette,
First I apologize for taking so long at getting your pictures to Kathie. She said she’d get back to you.
Lace and hankies and textiles are usually the first things I look for in antique shops. I hope if you go to Antique Row you find something you like.
      Blessings, Jeanne

  3. Do I see something in the pictures that I like? I see things in all the pictures that I like!! If I had to choose though, I would go for the hats and hat boxes from picture one. Your lace is almost too pretty to use. You have a sweet sister to surprise you with such a special present.
I hope your long day is a good long day.
    Take care.

    1. Hi Charlotte,
When I opened up the package from Cindy, I was thrilled with how dainty the lace is. I mean it’s like heirloom lace…so fine and delicate.
I don’t know what I’ll use it for first, but it will have to be something special.
      Thanks Charlotte,
I have had a nice day…and there’s still some of it left.
      Blessings, Jeanne

  4. Love the lace. Funny how things come and go, but I just bought a longish top with gathered lace around the bottom. Like it.
Such a treat to see the I Spy photos. In the first one after the lace, on the left is a vintage lady head. I’ve always wanted one. In the second from the last, I spy the bear muff hanging from the door?. I’ve never seen one like it. Mine, from childhood, was white rabbit fur with a dolly head on the front. In the same photo, the shelves on the right look like something out of my grandparents garage. Wouldn’t they be surprised. Would have been filled with colorful canned fruit, pickles etc. Lots of fun stuff and so nicely displayed too.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

    1. Hi Joy,
Boy, you have better eyes than me… I zoomed in on that muffled but didn’t know what I was looking at…now that I know what it is, it’s cute!
I could spend lots of time in these little booths.
There’s always something for everyone .
      Thanks Joy,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  5. How sweet of Cindy to send you all those laces. I can envision some Civil War outfits !
I would love living in such a historical place as Gettysburg on top of some of those antique stores around that area.

I noticed the child’s dress at the edge of the 1st picture. I’m imagining it to be “black watch” , my favorite plaid, with the white collar and cuffs. (It probably isn’t) And love the coffee table too Suzette!
May I ask about Kathy’s ability to restring dolls?
    Have a fun day, Linda!
Hope you’re day isn’t too long, Jeanne.

    1. Hi Paula,
I think some Civil War dresses might see those laces too!! Cindy loves it where they are too. I once went to visit her and ended up staying 13 days…there was just too much to see and do.

I saw that plaid dress too and zoomed in on it. I don’t think it’s a black watch plaid but it is sweet anyway.

I’m thinking about asking Kathie to give me all her info about what she does or have her write something up and I’ll post it.
      Thank you Paula,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  6. I do love the list of 10 latest blog entries. I can use it to get to the day’s entry and the comments are at the bottom — no clicking that causes me to lose the entire blog.
The lace is wonderful. It would be nice on a spring or summer Civil War era dress or maybe on something from Rebecca’s era or something very romantic for Nyssa.

    1. Hi Marilyn,
It seems so strange that you can’t get on the blog posts one way, but clicking on a link does get you on… I’m just glad you can get on at all…
I think the lace on a Spring Civil War dress OR a Victorian/Edwardian dress might be just the thing to use it on.
      Thanks Marilyn,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  7. Alright, now, don’t laugh… but in your 5th photo from the top (2nd if you don’t count the close-ups of the lovely laces), I love the oil painting of the cow face! It’s clear up at the top. I also see a deer head – nice rack of antlers that my dog would love to chew… 🙂 And the two mission style benches that are facing each other at the bottom of that same photo. You can’t see them completely, but I can imagine what they look like.

    1. Hi Theresa,
I saw that cow picture first thing and liked it…it’s fun how different things appeal to different people. I’m glad you enjoyed looking at the different booths. The only thing better would be to visit the place in person.
      Thanks so much,
      Blessings, Jeanne
