I’ve looked through every folder I could find to see if I had missed any Easter dresses and as far as I can tell, these are the last of the ones I had either tagged “Easter” or they are obviously Easter. I hope they bring a smile to your face as you glance through them all. Lots of love went into each one.

This next pale pink dress was made from one of the softest, sweetest fabrics that I’ve bought at Joann Fabrics. I only bought a half yard of it or so, but it made up into such a pretty dress I went back to buy some more of it. It kind of had a honeycomb texture to it, but sort of like it was embossed. When I took my fabric scrap in with me to buy more, they had absolutely no idea where that fabric was, where it had come from, had no idea about the sku number, so I was heartbroken. I’ve never seen it in any other store. So I guess Isabelle gets the prize for having the “Mystery” Easter dress from 2011.
I thought when I got Samantha I would sew for her like crazy, but I never bonded with her. I bought my doll used and I always thought she looked like her shoulders were scrunched up or like she didn’t have a neck. I have very few dresses where she looks “normal.” This was one of those dresses that I couldn’t quite figure out what was wrong… but anyway… here is her Easter dress.

Then just recently I had these 3 dresses for my Little Darlings…
…and a sweet little Robin Egg blue dress for Patsy Tonner called Easter Elegance…
…and a few days ago, these 2 dresses sold on Ebay…

Now for those of you who want a sneak peek at my next doll dress… here are a few shots… you’ll have to use your imagination on some of them. Kirsten’s sleeves can be worn up or down… and don’t laugh at how crooked I pinned on the eyelet apron…

Jeanne, I don’t know where to start! I don’t want to make my comment as long as your blog, so I’ll keep it brief! Starting with Kirsten’s dress, oh my, how sweet! Can’t wait to see it finished!
That mystery fabric is just beautiful! If I ever get to JoAnn’s and see it, I will let you know! Thank goodness, you included a close-up of it, since from the distance, I thought it was just eyelet.
Maybe Samantha’s dress could have been “poufed up” more at the waistline, instead of pulled straight down, like her new AG Special Dress in green. I know about the collar, some dolls just seem to have that problem, but maybe no collar on that dress might have looked better for her neck, or maybe cut lower, who knows?
Katie looks just darling in that dress, but I think the hat really sets it off. I think I am ready for Easter now!

Thanks for your compliments on Kirsten’s “half finished” dirndl. I was hoping to get it finished today but I’m helping my hubby clean up limbs in the yard from a huge tree he cut down. I sneaked inside to answer some comments while he’s doing some cutting with his chain saw. When I hear the saw stop, I have to run back out there.
The fabric for Isabelle’s dress is unbelievably soft and delicate. It’s not like a regular cotton eyelet… I sure wish I had bought more when I first found it. Oh well…
I think my Samantha has “football shoulder pad shoulders” and a bit twisted too. It’s not just this dress, but I’ll show some more and see what you think. Her dress does look a bit straight at the body part… I should have poufed it a bit I guess.

Ohhhh!!! Kirsten’s new dress is so, so pretty, and no, it’s not looking patriotic at all. It’s funny, how the fabrics and trims arranged in a grouping looked patriotic, but not all made up into a dress. You worked your magic, Jeanne.

I worked on your “questions” last night… I had lost the first ones I thought of and had to start over…
Easter dresses – always so much fun!! In our house we always had a two-fold purpose to this season. One was our religious observances and the other was planning for “the dress, hat & shoes” and dinner with all the cousins. Occasionally there would be snow on the ground to damper the excitement of wearing new patent leather shoes. But still a time to go “all out” on fluffy skirts and light fabrics {with a winter coat over the top}.
Your girls in their beautiful dresses certainly do remind me of those days. Hats with flowers, light pastel fabrics, dainty prints and ribbons tied at the waist.
This year I am visiting with my two Butterflies for Easter. We have shopped and shopped and now Grandma is at the sewing machine finishing up a few last touches. The AG dolls are also being dressed up in their butterfly dresses. Grandma even brought her own AG doll, Jamie Rose, for the visit. The story line is getting fun !!!!

We are the same way in our house… church activities and then the “Easter fashions!” I don’t
know why but we always seemed to stay up half the night on the night before Easter. We had all year to get those dresses AND sometimes coats made, but we always seemed to be burning the midnight oil right before Easter Sunday. I can remember making pretty dresses, too, and having to cover them up with a winter coat! :o(
I’m sure you are having a wonderful time with your “butterflies!” Have a wonderful Easter with them.

Wow, Kirsten’s new dress is going to be lovely! I just knew that blue sprigged calico was hers. I happen to realize I have some of the exact blue flowered trim you are using. I’ve had it forever. It’s similar to the ribbons that came with her winter skirt and blouse outfit. Samantha, is like Felicity I think. The different ones do vary. My Samantha is a PC German one and I am absolutely thrilled with her. She has the longest soft brown eyelashes.:) My daughter received her as a gift but didn’t bond with her either. So, She become MY first PC doll. I searched for a while to find the “perfect” Felicity as well. I wanted a German one with the true copper hair.
Today is going to be beautiful here as well. Maybe spring is finally here.:)

I thought all American Girl dolls were the same, so I wonder why Samantha’s neck was short. ?? Kirsten’s new dress is already pretty, can’t wait to see it finished. You are so good at mixing prints and you seem to always have just the right trim.

I think the earlier dolls had shorter necks. I know when I had my Felicity doll, she had NO neck at all and things looked funny on her. When I received my Elizabeth, she had such a long neck and everything looked wonderful on her. I eventually sold my Felicity for that reason… I always liked the way my dresses looked better on Elizabeth.
I think my Samantha was a bit twisted in her shoulders and then coupled with the short neck, it just wasn’t a good combination…

I had the same problem with my Kit as you’re having with your Samantha. I bought her in two parts, the head from one vendor and the body from another ( I call her my Kit in kit form) When I first put her together she was definitely hunchbacked with no neck so I took her head back off and played around with her stuffing smoothing out her hump and lowering down her shoulders. When I put her back together she looked like a totally different doll.

I’m glad I’m not the only one who had a crooked, no-neck doll! I think I have pictures of Samantha when I sold her nude…I’ll have to pull those out and see what I think was the problem… maybe I could have straightened her up, but I don’t know. I can’t even remember if I tried to unstuff her a bit and re-arrange things or not. She’s been long gone for a
year now, so I’m not worried about it, but it was frustrating at the time. I got Nellie and she was nice and straight and so I decided I didn’t need two 1900’s dolls. Then I got Rebecca and she was really versatile so I sold my Nellie and just used Rebecca. She turned out to be a good stand in for all the years and even makes a great Civil War beauty!
