Kaye Wigg’s new Gracie doll is up for pre-order…

Just in case you’ve missed all the excitement…Gracie, one of Kaye Wiggs’ Ball Jointed Dolls, is up for pre-order until July 5th. The way it works is after the pre-order is complete, the factory will begin making the Gracie dolls. Unless there are any delays, she will be ready for delivery probably in December. It seems like a long time to wait for a doll, but not compared to some others like the Little Darlings, by Dianna Effner, which is well over a year now. You can find Gracie through jpopdolls website (HERE). There are 8 different variations of her being offered this time…She is a sculpted doll by the world renowned Australian doll artist, Kaye Wiggs. I have her MSD (46cm) Nyssa and Hope dolls and they are incredible! Made from a matte finish resin they are very nice to touch and wonderful to pose. You can change their eyes and their wigs so it’s like getting a hundred dolls in one!

Gracie is a little sweetheart of a doll that has 2 teeth sculpted right in and they are just adorable! This is the first one Kaye let us see…

There is an entire doll forum dedicated to Kaye Wigg’s dolls and it’s a great forum. It’s called The Resin Cafe and you can check it out HERE but you’ll have to register to get a peek at what goes on inside. It’s set up with safeguards, which is nice. Kaye, herself, gets involved with the conversations and chats with the members. She’s an incredible artist whose passion is sculpting dolls and making us happy!

Just thought I might do a little something we call “enabeling” in the dolly world!

See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

  1. Wow, those are some really expensive dolls, Jeanne! I can’t believe people actually pay those prices, and unclothed? Or do they come with outfits and shoes? While they are adorable, they are not for me! I like smiling dolls!

    1. HI Linda,
Yes, Kaye’s dolls are somewhat pricey, but not as much as some…
They come nude with a set of glass eyes, but no wig or clothing. Lots of people buy the dolls, strip the paint off the dolls face and give it their own face up to make it more to their own liking. I’ve been wanting to do my Hope over, but am a little chicken. Kaye’s dolls have a very high resale value too. For instance, Nyssa’s limited edition of 87 dolls sold for around $400 I think and now you can easily get $1500-$2000 for her!
The nice thing about dolls is there is something for everyone!!!
      Thanks Linda,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  2. Two forms of Laryssa are up for preorder as well right now and her preorder ends on June 16. I jumped in and bought one without hooves. She will be my first Kaye Wiggs doll. 🙂

    1. HI Christine,
Congrats on your purchase of Laryssa! You’ll love her! I hope your wait isn’t too long!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  3. Linda don’t ever get one because they are so addictive! Kaye Wiggs dolls are my absolute favorite doll to collect and sew for. Jeanne I think the first 4 photos are with Kaye’s faceups. The 4th photo of Gracie Elf is my favorite Gracie faceup. I am no longer collecting elves or colors such as green, pink, white. I have really downsized my collection and am concentrating on sewing and creating patterns. I stay very busy and love it!

    1. Thanks Marsha,
Yes, you are right…they are addicting and it’s so hard to resist them. Thanks for letting me know about the ones done by Kaye…
I like the Gracie too, without the freckles…the elf one that you like, only I don’t like elf ears. I only have human dolls, but I like her smooth look the best.
I have been debating about selling my Hope so I could get Gracie, but I think Hope if probably more valuable.
I’m glad you are enjoying making patterns and sewing for the dolls…
      Blessings, Jeanne

  4. Those are definitely expensive dolls. Someone said they bought one without hooves? I don’t understand. I am not familiar with those dolls but I can see why they would be nice to sew for since they have joints.
Enjoyed the pictures the other day. You are just so young looking! By the way, the bride’s gown was gorgeous. I loved the sparkle. She was a beautiful bride. All the pictures were nice to see.
    Blessings.

    1. HI Paula,
Kaye makes some of her dolls with hooves to go along with the elf ears. They are sort of like fantasy dolls. The feet can be changed to hooves. I’ll see if I can’t find a picture of the hooved dolls to show you.
Thanks for your comments about the wedding…I got my brother’s pictures and am sorting them out.
      Blessings, Jeanne

  5. I recently saw Gracie and am tempted. I have wanted a Kaye Wiggs doll for a long time but since I started checking Jpop they were always offered with green resin or elf ears or something I didn’t like. I just joined the Resin Cafe but so far they haven’t let me in yet. I wonder what the advantage of the Mei Mei body is. I only have 10″ bjds so far and would like something different. Are the MSD bodies easy to find patterns for? It looks like the bodies are not all the same. I think I like the elf face-up better than the human but at this point don’t want the elf ears, though they are cute! I assume this is the best way to get a Kaye Wiggs doll, rather than trying to find one at a doll convention?

    1. HI Mary,
Kaye offers her dolls sometimes in colors like pink, green, ice white, gray, etc….as many of her collectors are into fantasy dolls. I’ve seen a few in the colors that were pretty, but I’m like you, I like my dolls human and without elf ears.
The MSD dolls are very easy to find patterns for and a really nice size to sew for. The Tobi body is 21 1/2″ tall, the MSD body is almost 18″ tall, and the Mei Mei body is the shortest at almost 17″ tall.
Kaye usually does all kinds of variations on the dolls…with elf ears, without elf ears, with freckles, without freckles, sunkissed, dark chocolate…but she’s got quite a few variations offered right now and I’m not sure what will be offered later. I like the face-up on the elf eared doll to, but not the ears.
It generally is much cheaper to buy the dolls from the pre-order than to wait for them on the secondary market. I’m not sure about finding one at a convention.
I hope you decide on one and love her when she arrives!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  6. These Kaye Wiggs dolls are so pretty, but they are pricey. I received my Ten Ping 7 today and have ordered another Tonner doll…. so no more dolls for me for awhile. Sigh

    1. HI Regina,
Congratulations on getting your little Ten Ping today! Isn’t she adorable? I hope you enjoy her! Sorry about the dolly funds running dry… I know the feeling… *sigh* from me too!
      Blessings, Jeanne

      1. Thank you Jeanne, Ten Ping is adorable! I just saw where there is a Ten Ping 8 coming at the end of June and also TP’s friend Gigi, and both dolls are so cute! Big *Sigh* now!!

        1. HI Regina,
Oh, I just did some snooping around and found their pictures at Main Street dolls ‘n More… They are really adorable! Makes you kind of wish you had a living and thriving money tree, doesn’t it?
          Thanks, Jeanne

  7. Thanks for posting the pictures of the Kaye Wiggs dolls. I know little about them except they are very popular. No elf ears or hooves ever in my collection or animal heads either. The world of bjd’s really bring out the creativity for many and I think this is great.

    Bring on the wedding photos!

    1. HI Jan,
Glad to help out a fellow doll lover! There’ll be wedding pics tomorrow…
      Thanks so much, Jeanne

  8. So, Jeanne, … are you ordering Gracie? She is adorable! Those little teeth are so cute. I’ve just started sewing for Kaye’s dolls and am really enjoying them. I’m thinking about the MSD sunkissed, human ears.

    1. HI Cindy,
I thought I was going to get her, but with the wedding and today my business insurance premium came in the mail…and a few other things, I think I’m going to have to pass. :o(
I’m hoping maybe down the road she’ll offer her again. I like the Elf Gracie’s faceup without the freckles, but I don’t like the Elf ears, so maybe she’ll be offered without the Elf ears and without the freckles… but if not, Kaye always comes up with something that steals my heart. I just really liked Gracie’s teeth and her sweet innocent look.
The sunkissed Gracie in the human form was the one I was leaning toward, but when I saw the elf fair one, I liked her coloring… I guess we’ll see. I was going to get the sunkissed Gracie on the Mei Mei body… Oh well…
      Thanks Cindy,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  9. Diana Jenness

Hi, I have really enjoyed your posts so far, especially the pictures of the wedding. The little girls looked adorable!
I have a couple of the Dianna Effner dolls–I got them a couple of years ago before they became so hard to get. I attended a dinner at UFDC, where she showed the dolls and the workshop where she made them. I live in O’Fallon, Mo, so I am not too far from her –maybe 100 miles. I have never been to see her, but would like to go sometime.
I would really love to have a Kaye Wiggs doll–I don’t have a dolly fund set up now–I use all of my extra money to go to Alaska to see my grandkids. Maybe sometime in the future.!

    1. HI Diana,
Well, I think your grandkids fund is much more important! There will always be dolls, but grandkids grow up way too fast…(so I’m told…)
If you live in O’Fallon, you live pretty close to me too… I’m in Carbondale.
Maybe you’ll find a Kaye Wiggs doll sometime… you never know… I got one when I never thought I would… of course she wasn’t cheap…but I got my dream doll when it seemed impossible.
      Thanks Diana,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  10. I like your comment that there’s something for everyone in the doll world–that is so true. I’m just not into pointed ears or hooves but to each his own. I do have a Little Darling doll on order since some time last year, but in general Idon’t like to sew for anything too small. I did sew some for DeeAnna Denton (Tonner doll) over the weekend, and my goodness, is she ever hard to fit! I may email you a pic when I get her outfit finished.

    1. HI Carolyn,
Not only is there something for everyone, there is always something new coming out too! I never dreamed when I started sewing for dolls that there were so many out there.
I don’t know anything about the DeeAnna Denton Dolls. I’m going to look them up right now. Yes, do email a picture of what you made for her. I’d like to see what you did!
      Thanks Carolyn,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  11. Hello!
I ordered Grace MSD with freckles in February, so am now looking for her every day! In the meantime, I’ve been sewing for her and now have around 30 dresses and pinafores, some with stuffed toys dressed to match. And…lots of hair bows. (Now I want to sell my Macall’s, Gene doll and Goodreau’s which I’ve sewn for also) Having so much fun waiting for Gracie; Jpop advises she will arrive in September…so I’m really excited. Thinking about selling some of my outfits I’ve made, I got carried away and made so many, some patterns are Gracefaerie and some others are adorable freebie patterns I found on line! Love your informational site here.
    Regards,
    Suzanne

    1. HI Suzanne,
Congratulations on ordering Gracie…you’re going to have so much fun with her. I had to pass on her but hope maybe someday I can find one…if not, Kaye always makes the next doll in line so adorable you have to have her…
Wow, it sounds like you have really been busy with the sewing for your dolls.
It also sounds like you do what I do… sell a few dolls every once in a while to make room (and fund$) available for new dolls…
Isn’t it fun to collect and sew for them?
      Thanks for commenting…
      Blessings, Jeanne
