Just like in the Olympics… sometimes we can’t deliver…

Are you watching the Olympics? I am! I wouldn’t consider myself athletic at all, unless you count the time when I was on a softball team at Bible College back in the late 70’s. (Somehow, miraculously we won first place!) It doesn’t matter what Olympic event is on… I like to watch them all. It’s fun to see who beats who and I love the little snips of stories that tell how hard they’ve worked to get there. I’ve watched beach volleyball, men’s gymnastics, the long boats that race each other(?), women’s gymnastics, those kayak’s in the rapids (?), and lots more.

Of course I’ve been sewing as I watched… I sew like mad during the commercials… :o) (sort of kidding there…)

Well, I’ve kind of been on a marathon of my own today, unfortunately I didn’t finish the race (or dress in this case) in time to get it listed on Ebay. (It wasn’t the Olympics fault… I had to deal with some phone issues my mom is having… and waiting on hold cut into my sewing time.) I still don’t want to show you Lian’s dress yet, but I have a few more clues for you and hopefully I’ll get it listed and ready to show you tomorrow!

It’s like a puzzle now… have you got it figured out?

Oh…and remember that Giveaway I had yesterday… well, we have a winner… For anyone who left a comment or sent me an email, I wrote their name on a piece of paper and scattered them on my cutting table.

I then drew out a name….

OOPS…

It’s Kath and she can pick the slip or one of the two necklaces I showed yesterday. Congratulations Kath…just let me know which prize you want…

I’m sorry I didn’t get to your comments yesterday, but I did read them all. I loved how you all shared about your favorite dolls. We had quite a variety of doll lovers! I’m so happy to help you with your doll habits… whether it’s buying doll dresses from me, being inspired to sew, just reliving your doll dreams, or just being with other women who love dolls like you do, it’s nice to have you all on “my team!” Go Team Dolls!

Well, I’ll see you tomorrow… and you will see Lian’s dress in full the next time… I promise no more teases! :o)

Blessings, Jeanne

  1. Yes, Jeanne, I am watching the Olympics, mostly in the evenings though, but I have trouble staying awake past 9:00! I love the gymnastics and swimming especially. All the stories about how they got there are so interesting.
Lian’s dress is going to be adorable! Is that a book bag I see? Love how you put the red buttons on the decorative stitching too! The little muffin hat is just adorable!

I took my granddaughter out yesterday for shopping for school, and today have her brother for a day of babysitting. My time isn’t my own, I guess, since I have another granddaughter to take shopping Friday. It’s fun though, spend time with them.

Congrats, Kath, for winning the lottery!!! 🙂

    1. HI Linda,
I’ve always enjoyed watching the Olympics… I really admire those who’ve worked so hard to achieve their goals and dreams.
My goal today was to get Lian’s dress all the way finished… and I did! YAY!

It just might be a book bag that you see… you know me too well, Linda!
I hope your grands enjoyed time shopping with grandma!
      Thanks so much Linda,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  2. I second all of Linda’s comments, including those about the Olympics. I guess your blog “girlfriends” really do think a lot alike! I might also add that your lovely lace bodices are always so exquisite. This is truly a special little school dress, Jeanne. I’ll bet Lian can’t wait for the first day of school to show it off! Anxiously awaiting the full reveal! No more teases, I hope! Congratulations to Kath for winning the giveaway! Congrats to you, too, Jeanne, on another “winning” dress!

    1. Hi Anne,
Lian keeps asking me when school starts… I don’t have the nerve to tell her her dress will be sold by then and she’ll have to give it up.
The dress is finished, so you’ll see it tomorrow… or tonight on Ebay…whichever you do first.

Thank you Anne, I appreciate all your kind comments.
      Blessings, Jeanne

  3. So far, I haven’t watched much of the Olympics. I need to DVR the events I’m most interested in and then watch them when time allows.

Lian’s little dress is looking beautiful! I do believe that red check and floral trim is some sort of book bag for her. Your color combinations are always spot on!

Here’s a hint when waiting on hold — put it on speaker and then go back to sewing! You can then quickly answer when they come on the line without having to just sit with the phone to your ear!

    1. Thank you Karen,
I’m glad you like Lian’s dress set. It’s so adorable on her… I usually don’t brag on myself, but this one was MADE for Lian. It looks perfect on her… I think!

I know most phones you can do that… put them on speaker, but my volume has gone down and is almost non-existent on my phone…it’s time for a new one. It’s next on my list of things I need.
      Thanks so much,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  4. Glad you can take time to relax some, Jeanne (Olympics). Thanks for showing us more clues…the “picture” is coming together for Lian…and congrats to Kath.

    Take care.

    1. HI Becky,
Sewing and watching the Olympics…two of my favorite past times…
I hope you have all the pieces to the dress figured out…
      Blessings, Jeanne

  5. Waiting impatiently for the dress! Know it will be wonderful.
Truck is loaded with a new water heater for the cabin. Should be interesting getting it out of the truck and down the path. Very heavy. The old one was used in 1962, when it was put in. Darn things don’t last that long 🙂

    1. HI Joy,
Well, I hope you think the dress is wonderful when you see it. Lian certainly seems to like it!

I wish new things lasted like the old things too… I hope the new water heater works just fine…
      Blessings, Jeanne

  6. Good Morning Jeanne
I watch the Olympics in the evening because I prefer to be outside while the weather is nice. Here in Western New York you need to take advantage of nice weather while it’s here LOL. Now when we are talking Winter Olympics.. skating, down hill skiing, speed skating, Oh yeah! I can’t wait for them February 9-25, 2018 Pyeongchang, South Korea.
Jeanne love the sneak peeks. I also think you’ve got a book bag in the making. Can’t wait for the big reveal. Congrats to Kath on winning the giveaway.
    Happy Tuesday everyone!

    1. HI Ingrid,
So you and Linda think I’ve made a book bag huh? I guess you’ll see pretty soon!

I like the winter Olympics too… but don’t want winter to be here yet!
Thanks Ingrid… I hope you like Lian’s dress when you see it…
      Blessings, Jeanne

  7. My favorite things are all combined on this dress…lace, felt flowers, embroidery, buttons, and the hat! Lovely!
Kath ,Congratulations..we seem to have a lot luck connected to our names !

    1. HI Kathie,
Thanks so much for your sweet comments Kathie.
I received your email , but haven’t opened it up yet…
      Thanks so much,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  8. Another real winner! Her outfit will be a sample of everything you do so well right down to the socks. I can’t seem to find any die-cut felt flowers on the internet or anywhere, especially the ones with the cutout centers. The way you choose to use them is really neat. Nice to use the Stars and Stripes colors as the theme during the Olympics. I finally caught on. And congrats to Kath.

Congrats to St. Louis for a brand new aquarium opening in Union Station. My grandchildren loved the Aquarium of the Pacific when they visited here. I’m sure Linda will be visiting it soon with her grandchildren. Nice to have that excuse to go.

    1. HI Susette,
Thanks so much for your kind comments… It’s kind of fun having a “patriotic” dress for a school dress too right now… Red, white and blue in August!

We’ll have to see what Linda does think of the Aquarium if she takes her grands… sounds like fun! Sounds like you had fun with yours too…
      Thanks Susette,
      Blessings, Jeanne

    Hugs, Kath
